673999 tn?1226935279 Have your doctor write you a prescription for Lidocaine 2 % Gel ( called "Urojets")...this is a cartridge with topical Lidocaine that is injected directly into the urethra. Very commonly used by urologists as a local anesthestic both in the office and in the surgical setting, and I found it to be extremely helpful for IC. I couldn't have survived without it.
655875 tn?1295695107 ve never tried it, but I have tried Voltaren gel, a prescription, which I thought did make a difference. It is very expensive. I also get a compounding gel from a special pharmacy (not a chain). They combine a bunch of things like lidocaine, ketamine and I don't know what else. That actually works pretty well. Any chance you could try either of those?
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
1264863 tn?1391118193 Hi- nothing cures these things! Look for a mouthwash/spray containing Benzydamine hydrochloride. Most everything is a prescription and doesn't always help. Ask your pharmacist if he'll give you some viscous lidocaine to swish around. He may have other suggestions of new stuff I don't know about ... stick with bland foods and liquids; drink through a straw. I feel badly for you...
Avatar m tn You can get a prescription ointment with lidocaine and that will numb your skin. If you have not started tx yet you may be worrying more than is necessary. The shots are not painful, they give you a teeny tiny needle that is very sharp and you inject into fat so there is almost no sensation. I was worried about the injections but my fears about the injections were unfounded and I got through 48 weeks of tx (and 40 of them with an additional shot of Procrit) without any pain from the shots.
5432782 tn?1368806956 Hi Growzer, I'm in Canada, too. Do you have access to a walk-in clinic? Most docs know about Magic Mouthwash. You can also make it yourself in a pinch: equal parts Mylanta, children's Benadryl and viscous lidocaine. The lidocaine can be purchased without a prescription (it's kept behind the counter). Keep in a clean bottle in the fridge, shake well before using as needed. This will tide you over until Tuesday.
Avatar m tn I have an erectile dysfunction since I have put xylocaine lidocaine 5% gel on my penis. The gel has expired since 2013 and I am feared also that I have put a lot. Three days after my erections are not so hard like before and they do not last long. I want to ask if it is permanent and what can I do.I am so anxious.Thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn Amitrityline-2%, Ketoprofen – 10%, Gabapentin – 3%, Lidocaine – 2% and Transdermal Gel – 60 g. Needs a prescription to get. You'll need a special pharmacy who can mix it up. If you have trouble finding one, my pharmacy also mails them out. Also, putting an ice pad on your head can sometimes help a migraine. Let me know if this info helps you at all. Good luck.
Avatar m tn You might try asking your uro for a script for the lidocaine gel and take AZO while it heals. If you want to try to order the gel just pm me for the contact info, Hope all goes well!
397118 tn?1219762250 been taking tylenol 2 to 3 times a day but not helping I have an appointment to see a chiropractor but I want to know if you all know what is safe for someone like me to take over the counter or prescription for pain on my shoulder blade and upper back. 4592444 tn?1362029703 I've put lidocaine gel on my legs like for a sunburn. It has aloe Vera in it and lidocaine helps with the itching.
Avatar m tn I have a compound for carafate, lidocaine, and Benadryl. When it was mixed, it was liquid and now it's clumped and formed a gel-like. Is this supposed to be like that?
230262 tn?1316645934 I have found great relief with lidocaine patches. You will need a prescription for them, but they work great. You just put them on the area that is hurting and since it is a topical medication, only the area where the patch is will become numb. It has sure brought me welcome relief on many a sleepless night.
Avatar f tn There's also a prescription gel, Voltaren, & Lido derm patches. I was on huge doses of most narcotics but got very little relief from the CRPS/ rsd pain. I've got some relief from nortriptyline. I tried PT & OT & other procedures but no relief from them either.
623065 tn?1275503695 Ask for a script for prescription strength ibuprofen and maybe a script for Lidocaine Gel which you can rub on your gums/tooth to numb it. I had to have a root canal and 3 wisdom teeth pulled when I was on sub and told dentist straight up I did NOT want any pain meds, gave him the whole story, told him I was on sub-he still tried to push Tylenol 3 on me, but we agreed on the ibuprofen and lidocaine..
Avatar n tn A big help to me with the irritation from cathing is to use lidocaine on the catherter. YOu can get a script for this! The lidocaine gel though does also contain methly paraben not an issue to most just me.., so I get MSM gel from Jaocb's lab compounded with lidocaine! In the beginning I would also put a cool or cold compress of ice on the urethra after cathing! I no longer need that! To make sure you have gotten all the urine out move it a little and wait etc.
Avatar n tn HI achilles2, Good to hear back from you. There is good research on one of the herbals I told you about. You will need to look it up on the internet as I got in trouble elsewhere for giving more info. I also use a skin gel that helps my mild to moderate headaches to prevent them from getting worse. The meds don't go into the blood stream, so it doesn't cause rebound headaches either.
Avatar n tn The discomfort can be relieved by using 5% lidocaine transdermal patches, available by prescription. Use fior no more than twelve hours at a time. The lidocaine migrates and reduces ventricular sensitivity and very ocasionally cardiac problems, so talk with your doctor. What troubles me is the fact these are pressure related issues and some way should be devised to reduce the pressure on your skin. One way is to sit on an inflatable pad. Another is to sit on bubble wrap.
Avatar f tn There's only 2 things I know that cause this frequently while on hep c treatment...An oral fungal infection (like thrush) or a folic acid/ B-12 deficiency...Is your tongue bright red or have a whitish coating? Are you anemic? If it's fungal in origin, a simple mouth swish of a mixture of a children's thrush syrup, lidocaine, and Maalox (or just get a prescription of "Magic Mouthwash") and supplying a source of acidophilous (yogurt, capsules, etc) daily to your body...
1833444 tn?1325557062 Of course it's probably best to ask your doctor, but my husband's prescription for Hydroxyzine is 2 tablets, so he takes it "as needed" and when he is having an especially tough time with itching interfering with sleeping, he takes it before he goes to sleep. I have heard some people on this forum say that ice packs, standing in front of the open freezer door, standing outside for a minute or two, keeping your skin lotioned up, and drinking lots of water helps.
Avatar f tn A nurse friend gave me a sample of Voltaren gel and it worked great. I asked my surgeon about it and they gave me some samples and a prescription. (It' expensive, around $200 a tube. Now I use a compounded cream prescribed by my PM nurse practitioner. It has about seven different things in it. I know 2 of the ingredients are ketamine and lidocaine but I can't remember the rest. (This also runs around $200.) I find this works a bit better than the Voltaren.
Avatar f tn The itching by this point has subsided. So I started applying aloe gel with. 5% lidocaine. This is a miracle as it numbs very nicely. It is now day 7 and I have even more raw spots, and it now really hurts to pee. Like after giving birth. I am 36 yrs old 3 children 15-18 yrs old. I have experienced yeast infections previosly. Also by late in day 3 I had peeling of the exterior vulva skin. On day 2 the itchy was unbearable and I was dumb and tried a home remedy I read all over online.
Avatar f tn I have done everything imaginable to relieve this pain, and nothing helps. I have never had them this bad. I have been, bedridden for two solid days with the pain only becoming worse. I have used witch hazel pads, prep H, sitz baths, cold compresses, walked, lidocaine gel, and it's getting worse. my son is turning 3 wednesday, and i dont want to be in severe pain. Any other suggestions?
Avatar f tn Capsaicin cream (Zostrix, no prescription needed) applied to the painful area can bring relief. Lidoderm patches and lidocaine gel, products related to Novocain, offer easing of pain." 1110049 tn?1409402144 Today my doctor prescribed some ointment to be applied to my painful thumb joint, which is so very painful. Unfortunately I did not take note of the name, as I threw prescription away as pharmacist said it is not longer available. Can anyone tell me if there is something I can rub in to alleviate the pain? I take pain killers (not strong ones) and cannot take ibrupofen as it makes me bleed inside. The doctor advised against an injection. I live in the UK. Any ideas.
