Avatar n tn Not very long time ago, I've found out that I'm allergic to lidocaine I have really horrible allergy on my face, around eyes and mouht area. I'm really fobic to go to the dentist and now it makes me suffer even of thinking I have to go, because they can't give me an anaestetic! I know, that there's two groups of 'caine' anaestetic, but how can I found out which one I'm allergic to? Which one can be used by a dentist on me?Who could do a test for me?
739536 tn?1265669359 The injection consists of a mixture of local anesthetic such as lidocaine or bupivacaine and the a steroid such as triamcinolone, Aristocort or methylprednisolone, Depo-medrol or Celestone-Soluspan. It is usually the treating physicians choice. Be sure you research the procedure and be aware of all the possible side effects. Many ppl have these procedures without any side effects but some do experience them.
Avatar m tn The problem is I cannot remember how I did it. Lidocaine, bupivacaine, and tetracaine all reduce symptoms from being almost unbearable to something resembling manageable but they do not heal it. If I recall correctly something was done to block synapse receptors (like acetylcholine? I am guessing). Having skimmed through a neurology textbook the 'caine' chemicals are usually sodium channel blockers and I believe they do not entirely interrupt the signal.

Avatar m tn Hi, If RSD progresses, or shows no response to medication, a widely employed therapeutic intervention for RSD is cervical or lumbar paravertebral sympathetic block with anesthetic injections such as mepivacaine or bupivacaine. The pain relief may be extremely good, for a time more than the action of the anesthetic. Some patients may be cured by a surgical procedure that involves excision of one or more sympathetic nerves, also called as sympathectomy.
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.

383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
306455 tn?1288862071 lotsatrout...good idea...you ought to get a patent....lidocaine suit...i like that!!! ...My educated guess says it is not addictive!!!...and we know where my educated guesses have gotten me before!!!
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
Avatar f tn Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Benzocaine is mostly made up of lidocaine -a numbing agent in no way related to cocaine. You are more likely to test positive for THC (pot) from using motrin.
Avatar m tn Occipital nerve block is a procedure where anesthetic agents like lidocaine and bupivacaine are injected near the occipital nerve on the back of the head near the base of the skull. The injection is done on the side of the migraine headache. The information I have states that within five minutes after the nerve block, 60% of patients had mild or no headache and 75% of patients had mild or no light sensitivity.
673999 tn?1226935279 The new standard inoffice bladder instillation for IC is Lidocaine instillation with bicarbonate solution. The lidocaine is a local anesthetic and the bicarbonate allows the lidocaine to penetrate the bladder wall to get to the bladder nerves. Lidocaine without the bicarbonate solution has only minimal bladder wall penetration and very short duration of action (minutes to an hour).
Avatar m tn I have read previous posts, but am wondering what medications would cause a false negative 4th gen test. Medication that I am concerned about is lidocaine viscous. My Doctor has told me several times that it would not and that I am conclusive non-reactive. But just checking.
Avatar n tn t have a headache. I understand that there is a test or treatment involving lidocaine dripped directly on the sphenopalatine nerve. How do I get to the right specialist. More importantly, do my symptoms sound like this syndrome. I plan to explore this more with my doctor which is 12 days away.
14051 tn?1238251732 I have had 2 sympathetic blocks in the past, but no real relief. My surgeon gave me Lidocaine injections, on 2 different occasions, in my back, where the rod was on the right side to see if I had infection or the rods were the issue. The Lidocaine was a godsend!!!!
Avatar n tn My first ultra sound FNA was a done by a Radiologist. I felt the 1st stick of lidocaine. I didn't feel the other needle sticks, but felt lots of pressure. The Radiologist seemed to have lots of problems getting the needle into the nodule even though it was ultra sound guided. He poked around in me for about 25 minutes before getting a sample. I was scared to death and could feel the needle inside my throat every time I swallowed. Two days later, I was told the sample was not adequate.
Avatar m tn No I have implanted pacemaker/defibrillator. Recently i developed severe back pain and can barely walk. I got prescribed Norco, lidocaine patches, and diclofenac 75 mg. Yesterday I took Norco and I put a lidocaine patch and I woke up with weird heart sensation, like slow heart rate or something. Could it be caused by lidocaine patch? I also take the following medication: Atorvastatin Calcium 80 Mg- 1 tab in the evening Carvedilol 6.
Avatar f tn not saying this will happen to you but its something to think about... nerve blockers. i had Bupivacaine. YES amazing.! it is painful to get. i will admit and you will feel like you do not have a head for a little bit but it is so much better then the pain. drugs of course are another way to go. but as always trial and error. stay away from triptans made me gain 65 pounds until i got off it and went on topamax a while back. hope this helped.
Avatar n tn She still has 1 filling left to get and frankly I am a little unsure about her having it done. The paramedics asked the dentist what she gave her and she told them lidocaine and epinephrine.
