Benzocaine and Lidocaine are two quite different products, neither are trade names (unlike xylocaine which is a trade name of lidocaine).
Normally I do not correct folks on forums, but the dangerous dose difference between the two is significant. 20% benzocaine may be acceptable for some applications, 20% lidocaine is likely to end in a bad way.

I had a 2nd trimester miscarriage the day that I had a mole removed at my dermatologist. They used Epinephrine and Xylocaine and when we received the autopsy report it revealed that my baby was perfectly normal and healthy without chromosonal issues prior to him dieing in my womb that day. Has anyone experienced this or known anyone who has? I researched on the web and found many warnings about pregnant women receiving Lidocaine from the dentist but not what they gave me.
The doctor used new syringe and a partly used xylocaine vial (multi dose vial) for local anesthesia for extraction the 1st tooth. Then he again used the syringe for taking xylocaine for anesthesia of 2nd tooth . seeing this I got afraid as this practice he might had done earlier also and thus the used vial might have been contaminated with HIV/HBV or HCV.
You learn to recognise your point of no return and stop all stimulation just before that point. It takes a bit of practise. Do not take any medication for this as it is too risky. There is a gel containing Xylocaine which is quite useful but practise is the best cure.
When I have needed any type of dental treatment that requires an anesthetic, my dentist uses an alternative to Novacaine...Lidocaine(Xylocaine) sometimes combined with Epinepherine. Make sure that your Dentist has a list of your current medications, so that he can be sure that there are no possible drug interactions.
Novacaine has a very short half life, it is about 1.5-2 hours...So 4 days later, it is pretty unlikely that it was still in your system.
Buy this medicine and keep for using during the headache and see if it aborts the same. Xylocaine 2% for Injection or 4% topical solution.(Known also Lidocaine). This is a local anaesthetic. You are going to use it as nasal drops to see if it aborts the headache.
At the onset of headache, lie down and let the head hang over the edge of the cot, so that it is at an angle of about 30 degrees, and turn the head to the side of headache.
My dentist gives me my shot and see another patient, by the time he got back to me I was fully numb. and the numbness last for 8 - 12 hours. I am highly allergic to lidocaine it puts me into anaphylactic shock, I have an epipen but sa that I don't have to use that I just make sure everyone is doing their job and I always wear my medic alert bracelet.

ve had quite a few stellate ganglion blocks and have had some success. They thought the lidocaine infusion might help the other pain I deal with and kill two (or more) birds at the same time so to speak.
KittKat23-78, Sorry the infusion didn't help you!! I hadn't heard about having several a few days apart; I'll have to ask about it. Mine is (at least one) being paid for by worker's comp. I'm hopeful but also trying to keep things realistic and in perspective.
left pointer finger, at work i stuck a cedar sliver under the nail past the start point of the nail. I attempted to pull it out and it broke off. only 1/4 inch came out so a good 1/2 inch is still in there i can see it thru the nail. I attempted to cut and split the nail with razor blade but once i got part way thru nail it hurt bad. my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches.
Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
The only topical cream known, through clinical trial, to delay ejaculation is one called Promescent. It contains the anesthetic xylocaine. I am not at all sure if this would be your best option though. Do not challenge each other too much. Take it easy and good luck.
I've been dealing with a difficult, painful and embarrassing problem for more than a year. I was told that I have anal fissures over a year ago but the topical ointment was useless. I took the alternative measures of the sitz baths and while it feels better for a time, the next painful bowel movement just swings me right back to the beginning.

I am a 25 year old female and I had a seizure while having dental work done about 3 weeks ago. I had been given lidocaine and nitrous oxide. Following the appointment, I went to a neurologist and had a CT scan and an MRI done. Both showed no brain abnormalities. I had eclampsia 4 years ago and had seizures which resulted in the early delivery of my child. Aside from my seizures 4 years ago, I had no previous history of seizure disorder.
I would feel a whole lot better without using any anesthetic during the procedure since I had a terrible experience back in 1989 when I was given a skin test for Lidocaine and Meprivacaine? both WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE,YES,WITHOUT EPINEPHRINE and I made sure of that before the skin test.They had to discontinue the Lidocaine because of heart side effects.But they finished with the other one and they thought that everything was fine and sent me home..The next day,BOOM! they hit with a vengence..P.
Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
