Avatar m tn Hi, six months after my left-side thoracotomy I was yesterday told by my surgeon (USA) that I need to get Lidocaine intercostal nerve-block injections for a persistent pain issue I'm having. Here in my country, Cyprus, though, it's impossible to find someone who has experience in injecting Lidocaine on the thorax. So, my second option is UK, but still I would need to find someone specialized on this type of nerve-block. Any recommendations?
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
Avatar f tn s correct that local anesthetics contain both lidocaine and adrenalin (epinephrine). They both can have effects on the heart, adrenalin has an obvious effect and lidocaine is actually an antiarrhythmic drug (class 1b sodium blocker) which may have proarrhythmic effects. The problem is - adrenalin is added to prevent the lidocaine from having systemic effects, the blood vessels are constricted. If you have reactions towards lidocaine, choosing the one without adrenalin would be bad.
Avatar m tn Drugs: lidocaine and triamcinolone acetonide injection. At night after lumbar paravertebral nerve block injection, the lower back skin burning sensation, numbness of the right groin hip hip the next day and radiation to the lower limbs, a heavy sense of her left leg, 5 days double legs pain to the heel, the activity increased after skin hypoesthesia. 8 days later, the abdominal perineal these symptoms, abdominal muscle spasms. The cumulative post double ribs to the armpits.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled for a thoracic facet block for next Friday. Are steriods used for this procedure? And if they are, can they substitute the steriod with a non- steriod medication? I had an epidural Sept. 2007 and I gained weight and It didn't work, I am not even sure I will go through with procedure now.
14051 tn?1238251732 proposed celiac plexus nerve block using X-ray and lidocaine only for pancreatic cancer pain and to reduce pain killer dependence.. I see alcohol or phenol most often mentioned for this. Anyone know if lidocaine only successful?
383138 tn?1314167773 So it sounds dangerous for the heart anyway, and with my problems already and past reaction to lidocaine, I dont think it is worth the risk. The cardiologist did tell them that, but they are not getting the message or something. I think I may have to call them again and have them contact each other. I just hate to turn down something my pain dr. wants to do. But I have to think about what the outcome could be, and sounds too serious to chance it.
Avatar n tn Hello Dear, Lidocaine blocks conduction of nerve impulses by decreasing neuronal membrane's permeability of sodium ions, which results in inhibition of depolarization and blockade of conduction. Intranasal administration of lidocaine drops requires specific and, for many patients, difficult technique. The dose is 4%solution intranasally.
Avatar n tn They had to discontinue the Lidocaine because of heart side effects. But they finished with the other one and they thought that everything was fine and sent me home..The next day,BOOM! they hit with a vengence..P.V.C.S over and over again lasting for 3 weeks or so until they finally tapered off. They were happening around the clock when they hit and I swore if I ever lived thru it that I would never ,ever try any of the caines ever again and that any kind of PAIN was far better than this!
Avatar n tn For the first time in 37 years, two weeks ago when I received regular dental anesthetic my heart raced and I started having palpitations. It passed of course in a few minutes and when I went in yesterday for a root canal I asked for the anesthetic without epi. The first shot was fine, but the second injection sill caused my heart to pound hard, my chest felt shallow and made me feel a little panicy. It passed and the 3rd injection did the same.
Avatar f tn I have seen 13 doctors for extreme vulvodynia (specifically clitoridynia) which is getting worse by the day and have had no relief from every medication imaginable (Elavil, Neurontin,Lyrica, opiods, compounded meds, lidocaine). I need a non-medication approach like nerve block, but every neurologist I've contacted does not treat this disorder. HELP!!
Avatar m tn Teh next visit was a new Dr and I asked him about the EKG. He said I had heart block but it was nothing to worry about. I was so shocked by that name that I didn't say anything. Now I guess I should ask him for details because I have huge anxiety issues. This is just adding to them. Recently I have been feeling lousy. I sweat even with just housework. But sometimes I don't. I had some odd Thyroid numbers recently also but they have improved.
Avatar f tn He had a 30 day monitor on because of heart racing/ palpitations. His dr did a stress test and his heart rate went immediately to 154, and when he was at rest it didn't go below 130. The dr just sent us for bloodwork...Epeniphrine & NorEpeniphrine levels . He also has a bluish tint to his lower legs and forearms with white spots-when I pointed this out to his cardiologist she said "oh".

754107 tn?1233668478 Hi, I was diagnosed over the last week with heart block, at least type II; I was lucky that I already have a pacemaker implanted. If anyone has any experience with heart block I would greatly appreciate any input on related topics. I have long-term chronic afib with a few ablation surgeries but this is a new diagnosis based on an EKG during a few days I spent in the hospital due to the symptoms feeling different than usual.
Avatar f tn It usually takes a long time but I am due for another nerve block and I trust my orthopedic surgeon and pain management team who have done this procedure. Check with your doctor, you may require more extensive work but get the right doctor to do this. Don't be afraid, do your research and you will get an education equivalent to the doctor about your own health that is related to what is happening to you.
Avatar m tn I got prescribed Norco, lidocaine patches, and diclofenac 75 mg. Yesterday I took Norco and I put a lidocaine patch and I woke up with weird heart sensation, like slow heart rate or something. Could it be caused by lidocaine patch? I also take the following medication: Atorvastatin Calcium 80 Mg- 1 tab in the evening Carvedilol 6.
Avatar f tn As stated big lymph node removed, and of course the area on my neck going up to the jawline was numb to the touch. No nerve block but lidocaine used. Now it’s been 38 hours and it’s still dead numb to the touch. Haven’t even used my pain medication. I can tell it’s swollen though as well I swallow/chew I feel a tight clenching there that makes it a bit difficult.
Avatar n tn The amount is so small that I have never heard of it causing tachycardia, although this is theoretically possible. Lidocaine and epinephrine is used in the suturing of millions of wounds every year with no cardiac events. My guess is that that is a coincidence here. The temporary fast heart rate in the absence of chest pain, pressure or other symptoms should have no long-lasting effects whatsoever. An EKG will verify that because tissue death is reflected in an abnormal ST segment.
Avatar f tn Benzocaine and Lidocaine are two quite different products, neither are trade names (unlike xylocaine which is a trade name of lidocaine). Normally I do not correct folks on forums, but the dangerous dose difference between the two is significant. 20% benzocaine may be acceptable for some applications, 20% lidocaine is likely to end in a bad way.
3112530 tn?1434032033 Other than this anesthetics such as lidocaine, BOTOX and steroids can be injected into the muscle. However, use of lidocaine and botox has its own side effects. A mix- and match of these treatment options have to be tried. Failure to achieve pain relief can be due to obturator internus muscle injury. Do discuss this with your doctor. Take care!
Avatar m tn After that, my heart was racing, hands were shaking and had to sit up . Immediately told the dentist and dental assistant, they gave me a few minutes waiting for the medicine to numb the area an to wait out the shaky feeling I had. After a few minutes, they did the dental procedure that went well. So told them I didn't want the lidocaine again, it was a bit scary to get that racing heart rhythm, shakiness for no reason.
Avatar f tn I am a 54 yr old male, in pretty good shape, non-smoker, non-drinker. For the past 2 years I have experienced pain in the left side of my chest with tingling in the left arm. I've seen 2 cardiologists and had a complete exam including an angiogram, showing no heart disease. Since then I've seen gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, and pain specialists. My new doctor suggested PHN and tested me for the virus anitbody, which I have.
Avatar n tn I have never heard of them being addictive...lidocaine is a numbing agent when it is used on the skin....when given IV it can be used to treat heart rhythm disturbances...I guess if you put like 20 on it could affect your heart but addictive...
