Lialda medicine

Common Questions and Answers about Lialda medicine

asacol

Avatar m tn I have just started taking Lialda. I previously took Asacol. I enjoy the Lialda because I was taking 3 pills three times a day with Asacol and now I only take 4 pills once a day with Lialda. I haven't been on the Lialda for very long, but so far the results are good. I'm not sure that it is better than Asacol, but I think it is easier and equal in performance. You might ask your doctor if they have any prescription cards for Lialda.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experienced weight gain around the stomach while on Lialda? I've had UC for 22 years and have been on several different medications. I was on Prednisone for 14 years and never gained a pound. In February of 2009 I was put on Lialda after a 4 year remission. I gained 10 pounds within two weeks, all on my stomach. Last November, I had another flare that lasted 4 months (I never lost a pound even though I was eating very little).
Avatar n tn Is there a cheaper medicine out there for this ? I can not afford my medicine!
Avatar f tn My 16y/o daughter has UC. Has been on Lialda 2.4 g/day for 6 months. She was on prednisone for the first 4 months of the same time period. Has had significant hair loss for the last 5 months. Cortisol AM is normal. My duaghter also has ITP and is considered chronic, it usually manifests during a UC flare up. Is the Lialda a possible culprit.
Avatar f tn I was put on lialda when I started having an alergic reaction to sulpha drugs. I main question is that I now have a bad taste in my mouth. Is this from the lialda?
1070971 tn?1299614110 I was told that I have inflamation in my small intestine after having the pill cam done so I was put on Lialda. It works great. I have actually been able to go to the bathroom without Milk of Magnesia or other stool softeners. I have noticed that I have gained alot of weight in a short time though. About 10 pounds in 2-3 weeks. Has anyone experienced weight gain with this medication? Is this just water retention? I am not happy about it!
Avatar m tn I am currently taking lialda 2 capsules twice a day. I basically stopped taking the lialda because it made me feel worse than I already was. My question is is there a reason why the lialda makes me have pain in my gut. Are there any other new meds out there of UC? Are there any new surgeries to cure UC?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in early stage. Right now I am talking Lialda 1.2 mg 3 tablets once a day. The above symptoms have totally vanished. But literally I am not eating any spicy food or fibre food. I want to know the diet plan.I really lost weight. I have a new problem past 2 weeks. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain.
Avatar n tn It is specially formulated to release the medicine after it has passed through your stomach into your intestines. If you are finding only the shell that is very common. However, if you are finding full undissolved tablets in your stool I would then suggest you contact your prescriber. Best of luck to you. Jennifer R RPh www.drugstore.
Avatar n tn I started taking Lialda in August, 2008, and took it (3-1g tabs once per day) for 5 months before I got better. However, I am not sure whether to credit the Lialda or the Flora-Q I began taking after three months into my treatment. I have lymphocytic colitis so this may not pertain directly to your diagnosis, but I hope it helps.
1269644 tn?1270486006 Hello everyone! I recently had a Colonoscopy to find out what is going on with me.. I have had bloody diarrhea, dizziness, muscle aches/pains, fatigue and nausea for the past 9 months. The Dr. said that he saw some inflammation in the left side of my colon and took some Biopsies. Is this how he can tell if it is Crohn's or UC? Can't he tell just by the imaging through the Colonoscopy? What can they determine under a scope? Also, he prescribed me Lialda 2x's a day..
Avatar m tn s for the last 5yrs and am on 5mg of Prednisone/day as well just being switched to Lialda 2.4gms/day (from Pentasa 4gms/day) one month ago. I was started on Famvir today-500mg tid. I am leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday and am scheduled to swim with the dolphins on Thursday. I have completed my first full day's dose of medicine and will continue until the prescription is completed. I am then staying on a maintenance dose of 250mg/day until I can get the vaccine in 6mos at age 60.
Avatar f tn hi there yes i have uc and bowel sounds are quite normal for me as soon as i eat? then i have to go on the loo !!
Avatar f tn Yea he jus put me on lialda for now thanks for responding im jus trying to deal with it!
Avatar f tn I was on Asacol for many years, but my new insurance company made we switch to Lialda a couple of months ago (three 1.2GM tablets 1x daily). I am also on Lisinopril (20mg 1x), Rosuvastatin (10mg 1x), and Citalopram (20mg, 1x). In addition to prescription meds, I also take one vitamin D3 (2000 IU) daily, as well as two 650mg Acetaminophen tablets. I tend to pay a lot of attention to my liver, since I had a good friend pass away of liver cancer at an early age.
Avatar m tn I have severe joint point pain and I have been told that Celebrex is a huge help for this. I am wondering about side effects and medicine interactions.
Avatar n tn You need to see a gastoenterologist, who will want to confirm this with a colonoscopy. there are specific meds for this, all RX - like Asacol or Lialda that will make life bearable again. In the meantime, try Activia yogurt every day, and a supplement of Aloe Vera gel capsules made by Pharmassure - available at Rite-aid.
Avatar f tn I agree with lizziecee. I'm on Cimzia, lialda and folic acid. When I have a flare to help reduce inflammation too,is to try to stay on clear, or soft diet.Applesauce, pudding, boullion, apple juice. Just give the intestines a rest for little bit. Good luck, and feel better.
Avatar f tn I have had for several days now facial pain more on the right side and traveling pain throughtout my body. I wake up feeling great and as the day progresses I start to feel run down, fatigue, my face starts to hurt, my lips hurt sometimes, then my head will start to hurt like it feels like its burning inside, travels in my toes, fingers, arms, legs, feet, hands and this will last for hours. Then I will be fine for a while and then it will start all over again. I do have UC as well.
Avatar f tn I have a history of rectal cancer 2007 with resection. Cancer free now. Last colonoscopy 2011 with some colitis per biopsy & diverticuli. On lialda and gluten free diet for IBS symptoms with good control of painful episodes. Recent hard stools last few days. I also take stool softener & fiber pill which usually keeps things soft and moving. Today I noticed red tinged stools in the am I noticed the toilet water being red tinged when I came home from work.
Avatar m tn I wouldn't take the asacol. It actually caused my UC to flare up every time I took it. I thought it was a coincidence the first few times. However there's no doubt that Asacol exacerbates my condition. I have also developed joint problems which I think may be because of all the asacol I've taken in my life. I wouldn't recommend it. Ask your doctor about Lialda or better yet improve your diet. I'm not talking about just eating right.
Avatar m tn They repeated the colonoscopy and again turned up focal active colitis. The doctor there has been treating me with Lialda and Entocort. The number of bathroom trips has decreased to about 5-6 a day, and things are much more 'solid'. However, the pain is steadily getting worse. It's mostly left side, from under my ribcage down to above my hip. I get it on the upper right side as well, but generally not as severe. I would appreciate any insight you might have on this.
Avatar n tn It has now been 8 months of frequent bloody/mucousy stools and no relief. I have been on Asacol, Sulfasalazine, and most recently Lialda which I had a bad reaction to. Nothing has improved my symtoms. I recently started seeing a new GI and she retested me and I am positive for C diff. She also tested a ANCA-IBD P-ANCA Titer recently that came back negative.
