I took Ativan and Zyprexa together along with Lexapro with no problems other than being a zombie and fattening up my body to 116lbs--which is half of my two pregnancy weights. So--I got off the Zyprexa and now take Lexapro and Ativan (2mg) as needed. I really hated Zyprexa--it made me have a Turtle Brain....

i was diagnosed with bipolar 6 years ago after a head injury and was taking zyprexa. Soon after, I was hospitalized with pancreatitis. The doctors immediatly took me off the zyprexa. Since then I have quit all alcohol and never did take drugs. I am currently taking Lexapro, but i don't feel it is what i need. I am constantly tierd, gaining weight, have constant muscle pain, especially in my feet and legs. I still suffer from mood swings, the ups and downs.

I was wondering if anyone on this website is taking zyprexa for racing thoughts and irritability. I started taking it in December for these symptoms but I have put on weight taking this drug. I am not sure if it is the drug itself or if my appetite has increased. In anycase, I am really depressed about this and am thinking of switching medications or just getting off the zyprexa itself. I am also taking 20 mg. of lexapro and this has not caused a past weight gain. Please help!

I am on Neurontin and Celexa right now which is great but I can still feel myself going up and down all the time. Or even if I have to go back on Zyprexa has anyone NOT gained weight on it? People told me I would gain weigh on Celexa and I haven't.

After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.

As for the meds, zyprexa seems to be working pretty well. My moods have definitely stabilized. I also take lexapro for the depression. I gained some weight at first on the zyprexa but am gradually getting that back off. I was slender to start with. Thanks for your thoughts.

Anyone ever heard of adverse affects from an antidepressant such as Lexapro taken by someone who is bipolar? Specifically instances of hypomania?

Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.

I'm prescribed Zyprexa in the "Zydis" rapid-dissolve form, 5mg, as needed "for agitation". I'm bi-polar, and sometimes I get worked up to a state that is more frustrated & agitated than it is manic, per se, The Zyprexa works well for this, except for its notorious weight-gain side effects. I just can't handle the weight issues.

I take ten mg of Lexapro and 1 mg of Klonopin every night. I am sometimes still tired throughtout the day, but fighting the fatigue is worth it for me. I am older and married so taking my meds by ten or so and going to bed by 11:00 isn't really a problem. I have tried Wellbutrin with this mix because the Klonopin wasn't working as well. I have been taking Klonopin for 3 or 4 years. I couldn't form a sentence in my mind after two weeks on Wellbutrin.

she said that the anxiety that I have been having is a part of the mania. I am no effexor and have previously been on prozac, paxil and lexapro. I thought you werent supossed to be on antidepressants if you are bipolar? I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have tried a number of medications at different times, usually a combination of 2 or 3 of the following: lithium, prozac, lexapro, seroquel, abilify, risperdal, klonopin, vistaril, zyprexa, ambien, rozerem, & depakote. Zyprexa, Benadryl, Depakote, and Seroquel have caused me to twitch and feel like my skin is crawling an hour (or a few) after I take them.

the other 3 I cant remember but it made me feel so doped up I switched docs and and she put me on 2 celexa and zyprexa and they have worked wonderful for me. No dopey drugged feeling. Just nice stable everyday normal living. Its seems to me that alot of docs tend to overprescribe when all is need for bi polar is a good mood stabilizer and a good anti depressant I could be wrong since I am not a doc . A few years back when I had chronic insomnia and got very anxious and depressed due to the sleep loss, a psychiatrist prescribed me Remeron and Zyprexa. Zyprexa to get the sleep going until Remeron kicks in. I fortunately saw my doctor who got very angry with the psychiatrist for giving me Zyprexa as I was not psychotic and secondly there are very bad side effects from it.

my son spiraled badly 3 wks ago and was put on zyprexa(now 10mg) and valporate(1000mg) the first week he was full of anxiety...couldn't settle, just paced the floor yet he was depressed and cried alot too. was told this was a mixed state of BP. the second-part of 3rd week he stabilized but in an extreme depression....so low he could barely get dressed or eat, but he pushed himself and even worked. Now a little into the 3rd week he is still depressed although not as bad...

but after being on so many meds in jan u know depakote,lithium,and zyprexa and now prozac im worried about seritonin syndrome...since being on the prozac i sweat alot...i think i did read thats a side effect....im doing more but im also kinda feel more sadness so my dr is upping the prozac from 20 mg to 40 mg.....im a bit worried about that as usual......i just feel so discouraged that nothing is gonna work.....and i cant take prozac in the day its makes me zonked...my dr was surprised by that..

Give it another week, if things dont start to get better i would contact your doctor. This happened to me when I first started Lexapro, my anxiety got really bad for about a week or 2 before it started easing out. Then when I switched to Pristiq my depression worsened for a couple weeks. It is normal for antidepressants to do this. So, just push through these next few days and i hope it gets better for you.

In fact 10 mg of celexa is equivalent to 5mg of lexapro. So since I am taking 5mg of lexapro this would be equivalent to 10mg of celexa. But the 10mg tablet in celexa can be divided while the 5mg in lexapro cannot. So fearing that I should reduce my dose of cipralex eventually like I did before, then either I take my 5mg of lexapro every other day or switch to celexa by taking 5mg.

I have never ever been the type of person whos weight fluctuates. About 3 months ago I started taking 20mg lexapro at night with the 50mg seroquel. All I know is i used to be a size 4...ive been a size 4 for the past 8 years probably...NOW, i am a size 10 or 12...and all the weight is in my stomach(with a little in my hips/butt). Im not pregnant...I exercise...I eat pretty healthy...but im confused as hell. has ANYONE had a similar situation with this drug(s)?

I have been prescribed Paxil,Zyprexa,Effexor,Cymbalta, Prozac, Wellbutrin, Lexapro,Celexa, Zoloft, and probably something I have forgotton. These anti-depressants did little or nothing other than lighten my wallet. To be honest,the best results that I have experienced has been taking self injections of testosterone. I am male,55 yrs. old and found that my testosterone levels were very low. The injections give me more energy,less fatigue, stronger libido, and a better sense of wellbeing.

My mam was on lexapro for the last 2 years on and off. She kept coming off them when she felt better. Then you'd notice the signs and I'd know she had stopped taking them. Family doctor put me 20mg of lexapro. After five weeks, psychiatrist upped it to 30mg. Felt like I was crashing after a week at 30mg so I called the "on call" psychiatrist on Memorial day weekend. She said I should switch to 150mg of zoloft. (I had successfully taken zoloft many years ago for depression, not anxiety.) HI, I was on Lexapro for only three months I never could get to the prescribed dose of 10mgs. I only got up to 5mgs. After only being n it for 3 months getting off of it was brutal. I had severe anxiety for about 6 months after stopping it and yes insomnia. I took about 6 weeks weaning off of it slowly but it didn't much help. Prozac has a much longer half life and I think weaning off of it is easier. You probably shouldn't stop it all at once but rather taper it down slowly anyway.
