Avatar f tn It does sound like withdrawal, and a mild one at that. Time should heal it. Try taking fish oil -- it's said to help.
Avatar f tn Although I'm not a physician, I do know from experience about Lexapro withdrawal -- here is what I found to be HIGHLY effective: 5-HTP / St. John's Wort / B-Complex supplements. I PROMISE YOU, although it will take time, YOU WILL GET BETTER. Looking back, it seems like it took a month or more to get over the majority of the symptoms -- some residual symptoms even longer. BUT HANG IN THERE!!!!
Avatar f tn this is my second attemp at tapering. first time i went too fast and wasnt taking the meds regularly which made the withdrawal worse. this time so far so good. hope u feel better. take care.

Her taper schedule went like this: 7.5 mg..... 2 weeks 5 mg....... 4 weeks 4.5 mg ......2 weeks 4 mg......... 2 weeks 3.5 mg.......2 weeks 3 mg..........2 weeks 2.5 mg.......2 weeks contintued dropping .5 mg every two weeks until down to the last .5 .25............
Avatar f tn I have been on 10mg for about 3 1/2 years and decided about 10 days ago to come off the drug cold turkey because I never had a weight problem and gained 50 lbs since I started taking Lexapro. I thought it was time to try to come off it and see how a feel because I am in my early 30s and have young kids and wanted to feel good abour myself again and lose the weight. Well, the first few days off of Lexapro were pretty good and then on about day 5, I started to feel HORRIBLE.
Avatar m tn Now, I will obviously give it some time since these could just be the withdrawal symptoms of the Lexapro but I of course I am wondering if the Lexapro was helping me and not just making me feel dead in the head. It is so hard to tell what works with these drugs and it is very frustrating. So, anybody out there that is just on a benzo and doing well? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Two possibilities. Once is that, if you were anxious before taking Lexapro and you now have the same problem having stopped it, then it's just back. These meds don't cure depression or anxiety or treat their causes; they just tamp down symptoms. If you haven't solved the underlying problem, it's not only still there, but can be worse because your brain is now used to working with a drug and needs time to relearn how to function without one.
Avatar f tn m out of pills, was also on Lexapro, ran out of both 2 days ago. Experiencing withdrawal now, and would like to know how long will it last. I live by myself in the country. Any advice will be welcomed. BTW, I HAVE been eating, mostly fruit. I'm still a little thing, about 105 lbs, and just turned 50 2 weeks ago. Thanks for the help.
Avatar n tn com/ It is tiny amount of natural lithium that is safe and may be my best friend as I work toward full lexapro withdrawal. I take one pill with the mealtonin at night to try to curb the crazy melatonin dreams, and one during the day if I feel too anxious. Great find.
Avatar n tn The reason he was put on lexapro was for anxiousness he had alot of major things going on at one time including surgery and he has a clotting disorder and has to be very careful be cause he takes coumadin and has for a long time. All is settled now - it was amazing how this drug changed his personality he was easily agitated, short with me, ranted and raved about different things and seemed to become a very me person.
1179039 tn?1263993568 Thanks for your replies. I had a dreadful time on Lexapro it didn't help reduce the panic, and the side-effects were terrible. I have tried everything, meditation, exercise, CBT training, but for the moment I seem to need some medication to stabilize myself. Years ago I took Paxil which helped greatly, but the withdrawal symptoms were for me, really quite bad and I had to take it real slow. I was then off medication for 12 years, but a few years ago the anxiety came back with a vengance.
Avatar m tn Hi guys. I started taking Lexapro for my depression/generalized anxiety disorder about two years ago. For the first year, I took the drug every day as prescribed by the doctor. I didn't get any side effects which I thought was great. The drug wasn't of much help, though. A year ago, I decided to stop taking Lexapro on my own. I tried quitting it cold turkey but I wasn't able to follow through with it because of the withdrawal effects.
Avatar f tn I recently weaned myself off of lexapro after using it for about 8 years. Everything has gone weexcept for one very troubling problem that continues some 3 weeks since I last took my last small dose of lexapro. Nearly every night as I prepare to go to bed I start to get warm and then I start getting the shakes. I get under the covers and try to get warm.. Once I have warmed with in afew hours of sleep I am awoken from the results of night sweats, which have left my sheets and pillows wet.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Lexapro 10 mg back in September for GAD. I took 5 mg till Christmas time. I was off of it for about a month and got back on. I developed a weird rash and decided it wasnt for me. I have been off of it for about a week now and I am feeling horrible. I have nausea, headaches, dizziness, blurry vision, weird hot flashes, skin burning and itching and backache. Has anyone experienced any of these when stopping Lexapro?
Avatar f tn So to answer your question you are feeling withdrawal as (your brain is readjusting to not being on Lexapro.) and you are now feeling the anxiety again. It never went away you just didn’t react to it while on Lexapro. In my opinion taking an SSRI is like wearing a coat in the winter. “It will help you feel warm.” But if go outside in the spring when it’s around 50 without a coat you may feel colder then you did in the winter.
