Avatar n tn d also recommend you guide the person to withdrawal websites, ignore the horror stories and look at the success stories. And know that, again, most don't get protracted withdrawals and move on in a reasonable amount of time.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I have been struggling greatly with nicotine withdrawals over the past few months; it's been miserable. But, it's my own doing, so there's no self-pity coming from my end. However, the withdrawals have been causing me severe bouts of depression. Severe enough that, even after getting through the worst of the withdrawals, I still fight the depression. There's not a whole lot of mood swings involved; just depression.
Avatar m tn I'd go further than specialmom. I had the worst withdrawal in the history of them, but I don't think the non-horror stories match the horror stories -- I think they far exceed the horror stories. The problem is, medication for anything does force the body to work artificially, so generally it's only supposed to be prescribed if necessary. That's the First Do No Harm part of a doctor's oath.
Avatar f tn , and then you were able to get off of it without going into horrible withdrawal for weeks? How many meds did you have to try before you found one that worked?
Avatar m tn Nobody can answer this -- you are the only you and we all respond differently. Much of what you were feeling and might still be feeling are the effects of stopping the Lexapro abruptly -- you're describing typical withdrawal symptoms. We can't know because you not only stopped abruptly but then started right away on another medication, the Zoloft, so we can't ever know if these are side effects of the Zoloft or withdrawal effects from stopping the Lexapro.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately on the forums all we hear are the horror stories, but the success stories far out weigh the bad. People doing well on medication(s) have no reason to talk about it for the reasons theresa stated. What matters is YOUR experience on medication, as we all respond differently to them. It's often trial and error as to what will work best for us but once we find the right one, it's well worth it! It's working great for you, and we're very happy that it is!
Avatar m tn Does anyone on this board (with heart rhythm issues) have success stories from these drugs that you could share with me? I have taken a xanax before and it did calm me down so I'm looking forward to seeing how the Xanax and Lexapro will help me out. Much thanks.
Avatar f tn com and their assistance with withdrawal from prescription medications. I am currently on Lexapro 20mg and have had no success of weaning off of this medication. I experience most of the side effects discussed on this forum. I am a single mother of six children and also a therapist and am exploring the option of purchasing this withdrawl support (Point of Return) and supplements. What is your professional opinion of this withdrawal method and its effectiveness?
Avatar n tn He then told me that I have panic disorder, general anxiety disorder and social anxiety, he gave me luxtanil to help me sleep and seroxat CR 25 mg (paxil). After reading horror stories of paxil, I decided not to take it so he gave me cipralex (Lexapro) 10 mg and said its safe and helpful and its side effects and withdrawal are much less than paxil. I am still afraid to start the medication to tell you the truth.
Avatar m tn Anything positive that has happened since you quit, please share with us. I love reading the success stories, even those that are just starting out with a day or 2 clean and excited about what sobriety has to offer is success. Addiction comes with so much pain, but when we fight for what we want and stay clean, we begin to heal and life changes. Life becomes worth living again. How has live improved for you, since you made the decision to get clean?
461993 tn?1245693352 I'm only on Day 4 C/T off Percs/Vics; I would like to hear/read some success stories as I am sure others just beginning the battle would... Please share.

Avatar f tn I am very new to this type of thing, but I do find that reading pregnancy success stories from other women who have PCOS, really helps me to cope with the fact that I have fertility issues. I am on my second round of 50mg of clomid and Im also taking Metformin. Are there any women who have successfuly conceived on Clomid and how many rounds did it take?
1834120 tn?1422942267 I just wanted to share some extraordinary success stories with everyone. Most of these will ring truer for the older crowd because that is the crowd I belong to (42 yrs and ttc), but they should give hope to everyone who is ttc no matter what your circumstances are. 1. Friend, 43, never ttc, BD for 6 months with her hubby and voila, a beautiful girl, no stim drugs or yoga or fancy positions! 2.
Avatar f tn You say you were on Lexapro for a long time? Is that right? How did you stop taking it, abruptly or a slow taper taking as long as you needed to (here's hoping Lexapro has a liquid, because one of the hard things about only needing such a low dose is it's hard to break pills to do a taper off). I'm asking because some of the effects you're having sound more like withdrawal effects than the usual start-up effects of Prozac.
Avatar f tn said cold turkey is fine b/c I have not been on it very long; however, I read so much horror stories about withdrawal symptoms. Guess I should take my trusted doctors opinion but just wondering if anyone else out there suffered major waithdrawal symptoms getting off cold turkey after just 15-20 days on lexapro and if so, how bad was it? Thanks so much and I hope someone hears my concerns out there!!
Avatar f tn Yes- I was hoping to hear success stories. I could probably give up the SSRI (God help my family if I do!) But I have Gerd to that same extent as well. I cough & gag & stop breathing while I'm laying down at night too. I can't imagine relying on Tums for that. My doctor said both are worth the risk- I'm just scared to add any unnecessary risk if it could be avoided. Thanks for sharing your story!
533277 tn?1213638714 people are all going to have different experiences...some good, some bad...some just so-so. I personally have had a lot of success with Lexapro. Most of the SSRI's DO tend to have some initial side effects, but they usually subside after a week or two. I think you'd be best to taper off as your doc has recommended. There are definitelty commonly reported symptoms coming off of Lexapro and other SSRI's....and it is best not to stop taking these drugs cold turkey.
