Avatar f tn Withdrawal from Lexapro usually occurs when patients stop the medication suddenly. If your plan is to stop lexapro, your doctor will wean you off of it slowly so that you can minimize any withdrawal symptoms you may experience. However seizing is not a common withdrawal symptom when stopping Lexapro. I would discuss any concerns or questions you may have with your doctor and be clear. He/she will be able to help and work with you.

Avatar f tn m out of pills, was also on Lexapro, ran out of both 2 days ago. Experiencing withdrawal now, and would like to know how long will it last. I live by myself in the country. Any advice will be welcomed. BTW, I HAVE been eating, mostly fruit. I'm still a little thing, about 105 lbs, and just turned 50 2 weeks ago. Thanks for the help.
Avatar f tn So, I've firmly decided that yesterday's dose of lexapro would be my first and last one. My doctor gave me a prescription for Klonopin to replace my xanax but I havent started it yet. I have severe health anxiety and the possibility of Xanax withdrawal scares me to death. I've been taking Xanax 1.5mg a day for exactly a moth and a half. Before that, I used to only take 0.25mg a day.
Avatar f tn I AM TRYING TO GET OFF OF LEXAPRO. I HAVE BEEN ON IT FOR YEARS. I TAKE AMBIEN, LEXAPRO AND ADDERALL, I'M TIRED OF BECOMING DEPENDANT ON THESE MEDICATIONS. I WOULD LIKE TO TRY A MORE NATURAL APPROACH TO MEDS. I ALSO HAD THE FLU 1 1/2 WEEKS AGO, SINCE THEN I HAVENT TAKEN ANY MEDS AND FELLING PRETTY GOOD. I DO GET THE WEIRD FEELINGS AND THE SHOCK LIKE WAVES GOING THROUGH MY BODY. I KNOW THIS HAS TO BE SOME TYPE OF REACTION TO GETTING OFF.
Avatar n tn Ok so i have been on lexapro 10mg for 2 1/2 yrs now since my daughter passed away, and i have decided to go off of it. I dont know what i was thinking but i just quit taking it a week ago today and now i cannot handle it anymore!! I feel like a total mess. I just took 5 mg of lexapro and want to continue to wean off of it..can you give me a game plan to wean? Also i recently started taking adipex and want to know if there is a risk of serotonin syndrome taking both at the same time?
Avatar n tn I have been on Lexapro 10 mg a day for about 4 years. Under Dr supervision I started a very gradual withdraw program that lasted about 5 months. I have been lexapro free for 14 days. I have experienced severe head aches and nausea for the last two weeks along with a reboot feeling in the head. It has been really bad the last 3 or 4 days several days. My Dr said it would last about 10 to 14 days. How long can I expect this to last? I alternated 2.
Avatar m tn I am currently getting high every other day on Sudafed, Adderal and Lexapro. I have built up such a tolerance for this that sometimes I take a box and one half of sudafed 12hr. (120mgs) That is 30 pills, plus the adderal XR(30mg) and Lexapro (20mgs). Last night I felt nothing. I want to clean myself up...how long will this stuff take to get out of my system???
Avatar m tn I also missed a complete dose the week before because my wife accidentally took my pill bottle to work with her but had no effects from that. Wedneday morning I searched the internet for Lexapro withdrawal and so I don't know if that is causing the anxiety??? I have been on it for at least 3-4 years at 10mgs.
Avatar f tn First of all, you're psyching yourself out big time. You need to try to stop the "what if" thinking or you WILL end up feeling the things you fear, like a self fulfilled prophecy in a way. I agree 100% with Paxiled. I think you need to talk to your doctor about making the transition the optimal way, which is to taper off one drug before starting another (or tapering down to a very low dose, then starting a very low dose of the new med).
1325193 tn?1450127436 Please listen to your doctor and follow the plan. If you follow his plan and all goes well, you should feel better in 5 to 7 days once you come off. 404138 tn?1308941656 Lexapro DID give me some withdrawal symptoms, but in fairness, I also was instructed to quit Lexapro cold turkey and got home from my appointment that day to find out my grandfather had passed away and I had to fly to California for the funeral. So, it was not exactly a 'good' time to quit anything for a person diagnosed with anxiety! Particularly when I left the Lexapro at home for that week because I was intending to follow the instructions for cold turkey.
Avatar f tn Hi---I have been on 10 mg of lexapro for 15 days.....and 5 mg. for 5 days prior to this(so 20 days total). I saw a different and VERY experienced psychiatrist today and she and I, after lots of discussion and evaluation, decided an antidepressant should never have been perscribed to me. I have severe adult ADD(textbook case)...which I got on a new medication for recently and it works very well.
Avatar m tn My opinion is this taper is way way too fast for a long-time Paxil user. I would go a whole lot slower. I would also stop Paxil altogether and only when I was past any withdrawal would I start the Lexapro. So far you're doing pretty well, but this can be a tough slog for some people so I'd find out first if you're one of them. To avoid it as best you can, I'd take, as I say, as long as you need, not somebody's preordained schedule.
Avatar n tn has anyone been off lexapro and dose not have withdrawl symptoms anymore? How long does it take?
Avatar n tn ” It is important to develop a specific tapering schedule with your health care provider to minimize Lexapro withdrawl symptoms. Anyone discontinuing Lexapro runs the risk of suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Over 50 different symptoms have been reported with antidepressant withdrawal, with dizziness nausea, fatigue, headache, gait instability and insomnia the most common. Withdrawal is most common with antidepressants that have a short half-life.
Avatar m tn Thanks! I appreciate your response. My symptoms seem to be located to low grade anxiety and depression (which I am never a depressed person until my anxiety comes about), stomach issues/diarhea. The thing is, I just can't tell if the anxiety is still there from the paxil withdrawal or if the Lexapro 15mg isn't doing the job. I am functioning though, which is good. Going to work, exercising, etc. I just don't feel 100%. Maybe about 75-80%.
Avatar f tn I recently weaned myself off of lexapro after using it for about 8 years. Everything has gone weexcept for one very troubling problem that continues some 3 weeks since I last took my last small dose of lexapro. Nearly every night as I prepare to go to bed I start to get warm and then I start getting the shakes. I get under the covers and try to get warm.. Once I have warmed with in afew hours of sleep I am awoken from the results of night sweats, which have left my sheets and pillows wet.
Avatar n tn My son wanted to get off antidepressants so the doctor suggested he go on prozac to counteract the wd from effexor.....(75mg) prozacs half life is 5 weeks , while effexors is less than 24 hours...so it's really hard to go off it especially if you have been on it for a while...even if they lower the dose to wean you it's pretty bad....withdrawal is awful. He's never been on Lexapro so I can't tell you if that will do the same thing...ease the withdrawal.
