Lexapro withdrawal headaches

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro withdrawal headaches

lexapro

Avatar f tn As far as headaches with stress, that's really common for me... and it gets a ton worse when I try to stop being on a medicine. Medicine, and withdrawal from medicine, is unique to each person physically, and so is alot of the reactions to anxiety itself. I find the headaches to withdrawal somewhat 'unique' among my other headaches. My usual tension headaches sort of start towards the my shoulders, neck, and then back of my head.
777975 tn?1236334919 I am now on my 3rd day of wellbutrin and I am still having really bad dizzyness, headaches and mind zaps I guess they are called like a charge of something all over me every few seconds or so especially when I am standing. I noticed this as soon as I started weaning off the lexapro and I imagine that it is withdrawal from that med. My question is how long could I expect to feel these symptoms as they are very annoying and the dizzyness or (mind zaps) are causing bad headaches and nausea.
Avatar f tn Namaste, First of all, stopping any medication should be done under the direction of a healthcare provider. Your weanig schedule, however, appears to be in keeping with what a physician would have done. That said, I don't think you're suffering from any physical withdrawal symptoms, but perhaps a rebound effect that afflicts many people.
Avatar f tn ve decided to discontinue usage because I know what the withdrawal feels like and would not every want a newborn to have those kind of symptoms. I have experienced similar symptoms to others on this forum such as crying the first week when I reduced my 10mg per day to every other day; "electric" headaches, fatigue, and flu-like symptoms such as body aches. After reducing to 10 mg every other day, I then went to 5 mg every other day, and then to none.
1325193 tn?1450127436 I recently started on the generic Lexapro in April and found it not to be as good as the brand Lexapro. I had taken the brand Lexapro off and on for 10 years with absolutely no side affect, except for diaherra the first 2 weeks. I've found that the generica Lexapro gave me headaches, made me more anxious and now for the past 2 weeks I can not sleep straight through the night without getting up every hour. I'm trying to wean myself off it as I can't go without sleep with a toddler.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Lexapro 10 mg back in September for GAD. I took 5 mg till Christmas time. I was off of it for about a month and got back on. I developed a weird rash and decided it wasnt for me. I have been off of it for about a week now and I am feeling horrible. I have nausea, headaches, dizziness, blurry vision, weird hot flashes, skin burning and itching and backache. Has anyone experienced any of these when stopping Lexapro?
537497 tn?1292553056 It depends on your dosage, really, but yeah, Lexapro knocks you for an absolute loop if you just stop cold turkey. I was actually instructed by my old psychiatrist to stop cold turkey and I did, but I experienced headaches, occasional blurry vision, upset stomach, and 'brain zaps' as well as dizziness. It's not really a dangerous drug to stop cold turkey (as long as your dosage isn't too high) but you do have to pay attention to what your're thinking and feeling.
1179039 tn?1263993568 Going from one drug to another, especially one of a different class as you did, does not generally prevent withdrawal. What you are describing sounds much more like ssri withdrawal than the beginning side effects of Effexor. The best way to find out is to stop the Effexor since you've only been on it three days, go back on the Lexapro at the last dose at which you felt fine, and if it solves your problem that answers the question.
1325193 tn?1450127436 I am on 11 days of no loperamide. I was told by then doc,yo,go,up,to 20mg of lexapro and all it did was make my head hurt more. I dropped back, down to 10 after 9 days. My anxiety was bad then and worse now. I don't know if it is because of going up,then down, or is it still withdrawal? I abused for a while, then went to loperamide for about a year going as high as 50 day, but went to 20 a day. Weird thing is I drank a bunch of energy drinks and quit that is when i started to feel bad.
Avatar f tn t properly taper down on the Lexapro and wellbutrin, you could be suffering withdrawal effects. And it could be side effects of Prozac. As well as just more fun from your underlying anxiety. Too much at one time makes it hard for us to figure out what's causing what.
94902 tn?1330479667 I really enjoyed the way I felt just fine Not overly fine but just good on the Lexapro. I took the Lexapro for almost a year and decided to stop taking it at the advice of my DR. It took a while but I stopped cold turkey one day a week ago..Immediately I felt bad..sad..hopeless..night sweats..vivid dreams that meant nothing..a feeling of anxiety to do something but no energy to do anything..I had been laying in bed for days..watching tv..gained about 5 lbs..became depressed..
Avatar f tn well, benzo withdrawal lasts quite a few weeks for some people.....but i would be concerned that it isn't entirely withdrawal related. be sure you mention this to your doctor and see what they think. with the surgery you had and everything, it's best not to just assume it to be withdrawal. your dose of clonazepam is low if you meant 0.25mg's...the withdrawal probably wouldn't last long or be too severe. perhaps insomnia for a week or 2 and heightened anxiety.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply. No I'm not sure at all - hence the question. However, I've had an eye exam and physical in the last month - all clear. I have had minor C-6 issues in the past which may have been inflamed by my running and gym work. I'll probably get a relook soon if this doesn't let up.
Avatar f tn I need advice. And also, with me being on Lexapro for such a short time will my withdrawal symptoms be as bad? Did anyone successfully come off Lexapro? Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn I was on Lexapro for about two or three years for mild panic attacks. It never helped, but it made me feel hyper and emotionally numb. Recently under a psychiatrist's supervision, I tapered off Lexapro from 20mg to 5mg over about eight weeks. He put me on 250mg Depakote to "balance" my moods "just in case"......I felt fine and stable the whole time.
Avatar f tn I took Lexapro for 3 years and LOVED it. It is one of the "cleanest" anti-depressants around, meaning it has fewer side effect and is one of the safest to take. It worked wonders for me but I relapsed into a bad depression in October of 2007 while on them. I needed a back up to Lexapro but most people dont. Don't fret. Lexapro is a good, clean, dependable medication that will hopefully help you to feel better.
600041 tn?1356160129 Yesterday (Tuesday) my Psychiatrist basically informed me that the medicines I'm currently on, Klonopin and Gabapentin, are essentially doing 'all they can do' for me. I've been suffering from some rather severe depression lately, with anxiety continuing to be the beast that never sleeps.
Avatar m tn You could also suggest giving an extra week at 5mg Lexapro to give your body a little longer to adjust to this new chemical. Headaches, temperature fluctuations, breathing fluctuations, minor aches, etc. can be common with titrating meds.. Patience and contact the doctor if you feel you there is need.
404138 tn?1308941656 Lexapro DID give me some withdrawal symptoms, but in fairness, I also was instructed to quit Lexapro cold turkey and got home from my appointment that day to find out my grandfather had passed away and I had to fly to California for the funeral. So, it was not exactly a 'good' time to quit anything for a person diagnosed with anxiety! Particularly when I left the Lexapro at home for that week because I was intending to follow the instructions for cold turkey.
Avatar n tn t taper off Lexapro, he probably is suffering from withdrawal (even tapering can result in withdrawal from these meds) and possibly new side effects from the new med. On the other hand, if his anxiety disorder is "very mild," he should probably not have treated it with these strong meds anyway.
Avatar f tn I was on Lexapro and experience head aches everyday, towards the end of the day, they were in the back of my neck and run all the way up the back of my head, to the front, they were horrible. I have begun weaning myself off of Lexapro for this reason mainly, and the headaches are pretty much gone.
Avatar f tn hi...i ve been on lexapro for GAD since 2 years. now i just want to come off the med and handle things on my own. i was on 10 mg which every 3 days. i started tapering iwth 5 mg veery 3 days, and since then i've been feeling horrible. i wasnt like this ever before, i'm so anxious and restless and jittery, so much so that i am actually scarwed to go out of the house and do my daily activities..i was never this bad earlier...all of a sudden been this bad, makes me feel likle crying....
433485 tn?1321813390 We have tried different drugs and I am now on Lamictal, Seraquel, Klonopin and Prozac ( we just titrated the Lexapro to add the Prozac). I thought I would be feeling better by now. I started on 20 mg. Prozac and was just ramped up to 40 mg, last week. I read on here about horrible withdrawal symptoms. By the way, I also am in therapy. Anyway, I am wondering if all of this is the withdrawal from the different drugs.
Avatar n tn ” It is important to develop a specific tapering schedule with your health care provider to minimize Lexapro withdrawl symptoms. Anyone discontinuing Lexapro runs the risk of suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Over 50 different symptoms have been reported with antidepressant withdrawal, with dizziness nausea, fatigue, headache, gait instability and insomnia the most common. Withdrawal is most common with antidepressants that have a short half-life.
