Avatar m tn I am a 37 year old male and have been taking 300 mg/day Wellbutrin XL and 10 mg/day Lexapro since experiencing a severe depression episode in September 2005. However, I have yet to go back to the stress-free, anxiety-free, depression-free person that I was before this occured.
1179039 tn?1263993568 Going from one drug to another, especially one of a different class as you did, does not generally prevent withdrawal. What you are describing sounds much more like ssri withdrawal than the beginning side effects of Effexor. The best way to find out is to stop the Effexor since you've only been on it three days, go back on the Lexapro at the last dose at which you felt fine, and if it solves your problem that answers the question.
Avatar n tn t taper off Lexapro, he probably is suffering from withdrawal (even tapering can result in withdrawal from these meds) and possibly new side effects from the new med. On the other hand, if his anxiety disorder is "very mild," he should probably not have treated it with these strong meds anyway.
Avatar f tn .5mg of xanax is a very small dose (if you are only taking it once a day), so you should have little if any problems with withdrawal effects - especially if you are tapering. if trouble sleeping still occurs when the lexapro kicks in, you might want to consider an exercise plan (if you don't routinely exercise already). a good 20-30 walk / run 3 times a week has practically cured my sleeping troubles. All the best..
246464 tn?1249452147 My Doctor took me down from 20mg of Lexapro to 15mg. I went to 15 last saturday, so it has been a week. On thursday i began to notice i was feeling very fatigued and dizzy. Avatar f tn I recently weaned myself off of lexapro after using it for about 8 years. Everything has gone weexcept for one very troubling problem that continues some 3 weeks since I last took my last small dose of lexapro. Avatar f tn I am currently taking ziprasidone along with lamictil and topamax and Lexapro as well as an occasional Ativan. I have been taking 80mg ziprasidone-geodon- twice a day for almost three years now. It has made me gain almost 200 pounds! I need to get off of it but Everytime I do I start the withdrawal. Has anybody else been on geodon this long and gained so much weight? I even exercise and can't get it off. I feel terrible like I'm about to bust out of my skin cause I'm so fat now.

Avatar f tn Withdrawal from Lexapro usually occurs when patients stop the medication suddenly. If your plan is to stop lexapro, your doctor will wean you off of it slowly so that you can minimize any withdrawal symptoms you may experience. However seizing is not a common withdrawal symptom when stopping Lexapro. I would discuss any concerns or questions you may have with your doctor and be clear. He/she will be able to help and work with you.
Avatar f tn I was on Lexapro for a little over a year. I was only taking 5mg a day. Since I lost my health insurance I slowing got off taking the medication because I couldn't afford it. It's been about two weeks since I took my last pill and I'm feeling odd. Having strange symptoms. I'm very mean at times and the newest thing happened two days ago, I get this strange pain that goes from one temple up to the top of my head and over to my other temple. It last maybe 5 seconds.
1288270 tn?1301287612 This either results in fewer withdrawal problems, or the withdrawal happens later down the road, maybe a month later. Lexapro leaves the body quite a bit more quickly, and so you are much more subject to a bad withdrawal by quitting abruptly. None of these should be quit abruptly, but the short half life ones especially so.
Avatar f tn My doctor thought that Lexapro was not working. I went 3 weeks without taking Lexapro and it was sooo bad. So the doctor put me back on 2.5 mg and a program to taper. Here is my question. Why are I waking up every morning with anxiety, hot, racing heart, and nervous stomach? I stay hot all day. My face feels like it is on fire. My heart fills like it is racing but when I take my pulse rate it seems to be ok.
Avatar f tn I have been taking lexapro for 3 years. I decided to get off of lexapro; it was not working. Plus, I do not want to keep depending on it. I want to see what I can do on my own. I was taking 10 mg and cut it in half and took 5 mg for one week. I have not had any for one week. I am experiencing stomach problems (especially in my morning), heartburn, indigestion, and a strange (heat) sensation in my chest area. Is this normal? What can I do to help? How long will this last?
