Lexapro leaves the body quite a bit more quickly, and so you are much more subject to a bad withdrawal by quitting abruptly. None of these should be quit abruptly, but the short half life ones especially so.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Lexapro, I took it on Wednesday (3 days ago) and in the afternoon had panic. It scared me and so I didn't take another. Three days later I feel weird, no emotions, cold, diarrhea, restless legs. How long will this take to get out of my body?
Avatar f tn well, benzo withdrawal lasts quite a few weeks for some people.....but i would be concerned that it isn't entirely withdrawal related. be sure you mention this to your doctor and see what they think. with the surgery you had and everything, it's best not to just assume it to be withdrawal. your dose of clonazepam is low if you meant 0.25mg's...the withdrawal probably wouldn't last long or be too severe. perhaps insomnia for a week or 2 and heightened anxiety.
358304 tn?1409709492 Have been fine. A couple days ago though I missed a dose of my lexapro 10mg for one day but I had no issues that day I missed it and no problems after getting back on track. Now lastnight about 10:30pm my tummy started rolling and felt kinda yucky I had the urge to go to the bathroom and had diarhea lastnight. I took a Klonopin bc I got paranoid about getting the stomach flu. I dread and fear the stomach flu like no other.
Avatar n tn My son wanted to get off antidepressants so the doctor suggested he go on prozac to counteract the wd from effexor.....(75mg) prozacs half life is 5 weeks , while effexors is less than 24 hours...so it's really hard to go off it especially if you have been on it for a while...even if they lower the dose to wean you it's pretty bad....withdrawal is awful. He's never been on Lexapro so I can't tell you if that will do the same thing...ease the withdrawal.

The reason, is bc I didn't want to be on a benzo I had to take everyday. My dr put me back on Ativan (lorazepam) .5mg to take when needed. After my last dose of Klonopin and lexapro I felt a little strange an anxiety was kinda creepin up, so about a day or two with no drugs..
Avatar f tn I recently weaned myself off of lexapro after using it for about 8 years. Everything has gone weexcept for one very troubling problem that continues some 3 weeks since I last took my last small dose of lexapro. Nearly every night as I prepare to go to bed I start to get warm and then I start getting the shakes. I get under the covers and try to get warm.. Once I have warmed with in afew hours of sleep I am awoken from the results of night sweats, which have left my sheets and pillows wet.
Avatar f tn Withdrawal from Lexapro usually occurs when patients stop the medication suddenly. If your plan is to stop lexapro, your doctor will wean you off of it slowly so that you can minimize any withdrawal symptoms you may experience. However seizing is not a common withdrawal symptom when stopping Lexapro. I would discuss any concerns or questions you may have with your doctor and be clear. He/she will be able to help and work with you.

Avatar f tn The first couple years of taking Lexapro I had no side effects. For the last year +, I have had abdominal pain, gas, heartburn & diarrhea almost daily. I have asked my Dr. 3xs if it could be from the Lexapro, but he keeps telling me no. I have a decent diet ~I eat lots of fruit & salad & drink nothing but water. My Dr. just want to give me more med's for the symptoms (prilosec, etc). I take Pepcid and GasX almost every day.
Avatar f tn I was on Lexapro for a little over a year. I was only taking 5mg a day. Since I lost my health insurance I slowing got off taking the medication because I couldn't afford it. It's been about two weeks since I took my last pill and I'm feeling odd. Having strange symptoms. I'm very mean at times and the newest thing happened two days ago, I get this strange pain that goes from one temple up to the top of my head and over to my other temple. It last maybe 5 seconds.
Avatar f tn My doctor thought that Lexapro was not working. I went 3 weeks without taking Lexapro and it was sooo bad. So the doctor put me back on 2.5 mg and a program to taper. Here is my question. Why are I waking up every morning with anxiety, hot, racing heart, and nervous stomach? I stay hot all day. My face feels like it is on fire. My heart fills like it is racing but when I take my pulse rate it seems to be ok.
Avatar f tn I have been taking lexapro for 3 years. I decided to get off of lexapro; it was not working. Plus, I do not want to keep depending on it. I want to see what I can do on my own. I was taking 10 mg and cut it in half and took 5 mg for one week. I have not had any for one week. I am experiencing stomach problems (especially in my morning), heartburn, indigestion, and a strange (heat) sensation in my chest area. Is this normal? What can I do to help? How long will this last?
Avatar m tn This is a tricky question because you're doing 2 changes at the same time. It becomes difficult then to determine which drug causes the problems. I can speak from experience on the xanax tapering, as i've been doing it now for months. I have found that my most difficult days were on days 3 - 4 ,then around 7 - 8 days, then again, around days 12, 13 , even 14. Many of the symptoms you described are part of xanax withdrawal...but I can't speak for diarrhea & sleepy - esp.
Avatar n tn com/ It is tiny amount of natural lithium that is safe and may be my best friend as I work toward full lexapro withdrawal. I take one pill with the mealtonin at night to try to curb the crazy melatonin dreams, and one during the day if I feel too anxious. Great find.
