Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro withdrawal blood pressure

lexapro

Avatar m tn Very unusual that your doctor would want to take you off your meds. Is he aware that you suffer from Major Depression? If so was he expecting that your depression would just go away on it's own? This would be much like a doctor that has a patient with high blood pressure saying, "Hey guess what, I'm going to take you off your high blood pressure meds even though you still have high blood pressure." I just don't get it?????????? My suggestion........
Avatar n tn do I experience some lexapro withdrawal syndrome or my anxiety came back/ should I resume taking Lexapro or should I fight anxiety and wait?
Avatar f tn hey, yes i get that pressure feeling to, and im on lexapro, i think its from higher bloody pressure, thats a symptom of high blood pressure, even if you dont generally have high blood pressure, it naturally goes up and down throughout the day and this can be caused by that, i don't think its anything to worry about, i have it most days to, mostly in the mornings or evenings, but goes away after a while when i relax..
Avatar n tn Lexapro can be one of the more difficult SSRI meds when it comes to withdrawl. Not sure why your doc said that you shouldn't be having withdrawl symptoms after only two weeks off Lex. Even with a Very slow taper off method, you can expect to have withdrawl symptoms for at least 6 to 8 weeks after complete discontinuation. Sometimes even longer depending on the person. Yes, they can be nasty.
212161 tn?1599427282 Have you been anxious over anything lately, or in pain? My blood pressure was about 167/114 without my meds. After an injury to my upper arm my blood pressure went way up due to the pain. Let me know what it reads today.
Avatar n tn I had a similar experience with Celexa, which is a very similar drug (celexa is citalopram, lexapro is escitalopram). I also had low blood pressure (78/58 at one point), and worsening depression, which really wasn't helpful since that's what I was taking it for. I was only on it for 4 weeks though...
Avatar f tn Could be withdrawal, but also during the night our blood sugar changes as we sleep so maybe get it checked. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I was put on Lexapro about 6 months ago for anxiety. After being on lexapro, I started having problems with high blood pressure. Like usually 150/100 or so. It was so weird to me that all of a sudden for 6 months I was having high blood pressure when I never ever before had any issues with it. Then it started giving me anxiety that my bp was so high. Is this a side effect of Lexapro? Will it go down after stopping? Should I get on a bp medicine?
Avatar n tn Is it possible to experience increased blood pressure after stopping Lexapro? I have been off of Lex for about 4 months and I am now on 4 different blood pressure meds. Would stopping Lexapro be a cause? If so is it possible to go back to taking Lexapro?

439522 tn?1214951189 1mg), and when did you start and stop taking it through your withdrawls? Also, will help the anxiety? I would think if my blood pressure goes down and heart rate, it would have a calming effect. I take 10mg a day of Lexapro for anxiety (have for a few years). Have had no anxiety when on Lexapro...except for now as I go through lortab withdrawals...and the anxiety is as bad as before when I had to start the Lexapro.
358304 tn?1409709492 I believe I have properly weaned myself off of the Lexapro and Klonopin. I weaned off both medications within 2-3 weeks. I cut the Lexapro in half taking 5mg for about a week, then .25mg, then smaller and smaller. Same with Klonopin, .5mg then to .25mg to .0125mg or something like that. My anxiety is GONE! Which is GREAT! =) But I have had a few symptoms, and I don't know if it's rebound anxiety symptoms or if it's from withdrawal from the benzo and the anti-depressant.
Avatar m tn Hi If hypoglycemia or very low blood pressure or even a syncopal or vasovagal attack are the cause, then they could be dangerous. You should not ignore them. Consult your doctor regarding them. Take care!
Avatar m tn The Lexapro did such a good job getting me up and doing things, lots of things, but unfortunately, I believe it also may have made me nervous because it raised my blood pressure from it’s usual 120/80 to 145/110. I was really up, up, up. I could drink twelve shots of straight liquor and still be walking around for hours. This was the busiest year of my life.
Avatar m tn Ideally, your psychiatrist should slowly taper you off the Lexapro before giving you Cymbalta. There can be withdrawal when quitting anti-depressants, so it should be done slowly and carefully. And one drug even in the same class won't necessarily have any effect on this withdrawal. Cymbalta is in a different class of drugs. So a careful psychiatrist would see how you react to tapering down the Lexapro, then do the switch slowly to see how you react to the Cymbalta.
Avatar n tn ” It is important to develop a specific tapering schedule with your health care provider to minimize Lexapro withdrawl symptoms. Anyone discontinuing Lexapro runs the risk of suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Over 50 different symptoms have been reported with antidepressant withdrawal, with dizziness nausea, fatigue, headache, gait instability and insomnia the most common. Withdrawal is most common with antidepressants that have a short half-life.
Avatar m tn s been on Effexor for a couple of years which has been tremendously successful but she had to stop taking it recently, (due to it causing high blood pressure), and we discovered the dark, ugly side of this medication. She tapered down the dosage for the first month and has suffered for over two months with debilitating withdrawal symptoms - extreme and constant naseau, lethargy, diziness etc.
1325193 tn?1450127436 ed with mild high blood pressure...I stopped drinking the coffee and had the most wicked headaches for weeks afterwards. Now I have one (maybe 2) cups of half-caff coffee in the morning. I'll bet these symptoms get better slowly, but keep track. Drink a lot of water to help your body flush out toxins...are you getting any exercise?
1295419 tn?1276822872 Hi all-- I started taking Lexapro last week for severe GAD and have noticed that my blood pressure is a little on the high side after taking it and my heart rate it a little higher as well. It seems like every time I stand up my heart rate increases, even from that minimal activity. I like the effects of the Lexapro mentally, but just curious if anyone else had similar side effects and if so, if they went away or you had to start taking something else?
