Lexapro with melatonin

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro with melatonin

lexapro

Avatar m tn It should be fine. I use it. But you should always do your homework -- google anything you're going to take and check contraindications. Lexapro is an antidepressant that's also used for anxiety. There are some theoretical contraindications with melatonin, though as with most natural remedies the research is not very good because of the lack of patentability. Without money, no research.
Avatar n tn Try to find the 1 mg sub-lingual melatonin by Source Naturals and split it in eigths with a splitter. Do not poison yourself with full OTC doses. It is a neurohormone and should be taken seriously. Not all withdrawals are bad.....but most people with bad experiences post their terrors....happier ones do not, so remember that and hang in there. Also, everyone is truly different, so do not assume anything. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have sleep anxiety and only sleep 4 to 5 hours a night. I feel exhausted most of the time and I am able to fall asleep with melatonin but only helps for about 4 hours. I've tried Ambien, Clonazepam and everything over the counter. Clonazepam seemed to work but it's a controlled drug so I would like to get off it. Has anyone tried Rozerem? It's not a controlled drug. Thoughts or experience on Rozerem would be appreciated.
397118 tn?1219762250 -Melatonin is not addictive -It is a naturally occuring hormone in all living creatures -Bright light blocks your bodies natural production of Melatonin- make sure the lighting in your house isn't contributing to your lack of sleep -If you take too much melatonin, you may experience grogginess, too much sleep, vivid dreams, and the inability to be alert the next day I would lose the Tylenol PM and stick with the Melatonin.
Avatar f tn But I need this terrible anxiety and avoidance to stop. My doc assured me that Lexapro is safe and he said take Melatonin with it if it caused sleep problems. I already take Melatonin. Maybe I could ask for some Remeron/Mirtazipine to take with the Lexapro? I'm just scared to take that first dose.
1934704 tn?1323449136 I started taking 5 mg of lexapro for my silent migraines with aura and my anxiety/ depression..
1063764 tn?1272821064 It's hard to see exactly where they would interact, since they work on completely different physiological processes. Then again, everyone has their own peculiarities when it comes to this stuff. Melatonin is a hormone made naturally by the body to set the body clock and as an antioxidant. It doesn't affect serotonin in any direct way, but obviously if you're not sleeping well it won't help serotonin do its thing.
563594 tn?1309583132 I used melatonin last night with a small amount of xanax and slept for 14 hours! AMAZING!! But, I really need help with this anxiety...sick of feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack at any moment..but I also DO NOT want to be addicted to xanax. I'm fighting one addiction, I sure as heck don't need another! thanks guys!
Avatar n tn I take a low dose of lexapro but recently due to things going on in my life.. I feel very anxious at night before falling asleep. How can I get rid of this without increasing my meds?
Avatar m tn Hello there, There is no indication that Clonazepam can induce insomnia other than REM sleep pattern disruption. You can try looking for Melatonin in your food supplements store or pharmacy. It is proven to help with sleep and sleep patterns and have many other benefits. Do a search on Melatonin on wikipedia to find all about it.
Avatar f tn I took Tofranil (the brand name med) 100 mg for panic disorder from 1994 to 2004 and always responded well to it. I was switched to Lexapro in 2004, due to wanting to attempt a pregnancy. I took the Lexapro for 5-6 years, but it eventually became ineffective at blocking my panic. The doctor switched me back to Imipramine (because Tofranil brand name is so expensive) and since I've begun taking it I notice many side effects I never experienced while taking the brand name med.
Avatar f tn However, the Dr wants me off clonazepam so he recommended Lexapro. After a month on Lexapro I feel that it is not for me. The first week on this stuff was horrible. I had constant headaches, fatigue, horrible metallic taste in my mouth. After a month my symptoms subsided but then I started with frequent urination, having vivid wild dreams, constipation, changes in menstrual cycle, foot cramps. My sleep has improved a bit however, the vivid dreams are too wild for me.
Avatar m tn Over the past 4 months, I have tried zoloft, lexapro, celexa, buspar, and now Zoloft again. I was given the 25mg tabs and told to take half (12.5) due to my body is apparently very sensitive to these type of meds. I was taking it at night, but i could not fall asleep. I would be dog tired, but couldnt flip the switch.
750172 tn?1256147076 I read one of the possible side-effects of Lexapro is insomnia, which I already have and now with my depression about a recent breakup, my mind can't seem to stop thinking. Thanks. Your profile picture by the way is fantastic!
Avatar n tn My doc has me started out on 2.5 mg of Lexapro, roughly that is, I'm breaking 10 mg's into 4th's, so basically it is not exact so someday's I might be getting 3-3.5 while other days I might be getting 1.5-2.0. She says to just stick with this until I feel comfortable bumping up to 5 mg, and then doing the same going to 10mg. She is not very specific about anything. My question is I have anxiety right now so I don't know if it is side effects from the 2.
Avatar m tn Working overnight can wreak havoc on some people who have light disorders, and can also mess with melatonin, the regulator of our body clock. The twitches could also indicate low magnesium levels. Just things to consider; you might not be suited to overnight work and may be suffering something like seasonal affective disorder because of the lack of natural light and a disruption of your melatonin levels.
Avatar f tn Lexapro is an anti-depressant, with some positive affects on anxiety, but it also has side effects, so it seems strong and wrong for what you have and it can be hard to quit taking if you're on it a long time -- the body has a hard time readjusting to not having serotonin artificially affected. I wouldn't think that's a good choice for a start here, nor would I Lunesta, in my opinion, since sleeping pills can leave one drowsy and bother REM sleep, as can Lexapro and clonazepam.
Avatar f tn but doesnt seem to be helping too much... has anybody else develoiped sinus with lexapro, and any suggestions how to treat it? many thanks.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone I have terrible anxiety and am feeling bad about myself. My doctor prescribed me some Lexapro but I'm scared to take it I just can't bring myself to..maybe it will help me but I'm scared :( The only thing keeping me sane is Xanax but that's not how I want to live. I sometimes can't go in stores because I'm sure people will stare or talk about me and I don't like how I look.
Avatar f tn Is there any evidence that melatonin interferes with carboplatin/paclitaxel chemo?
757137 tn?1347196453 That helped the insomnia somewhat. With that improvement I tried melatonin again with better results. I have been taking the melatonin (2 mg.) for about six months and am loathe to give it up. I still don't sleep like a baby, but now I can manage pretty well.
Avatar n tn t have said anything since those are known to interact with a wide range of medicines and treatments and cause a variety of side effects, but with melatonin there is no chance of interaction.
Avatar m tn Melatonin Anyone know anything about Melatonin I am 21 days clean from TRamadol for 4 years then the sub program which took 3 weeks now i just can't sleep it's driving me crazy...But I don't want to take Melatonin if in the long run it's a bad idea....
