Lexapro vs trazadone

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro vs trazadone

lexapro

Avatar f tn The zoloft never seemed to work well, would have jitteriness, sweats and would seem to stop working around my period. I am going to see a naturopath and starting progesterone as she thinks that is my issue but I didn't feel I could go off a antidepresant yet so asked to switch to lexapro. Lexapro doesn't seem to be working well, still jittery crying spells etc. Never had anxiety before so at a loss at this point, am only 39 so very frustrating.
Avatar n tn I take Lexapro and it is working for me. i also take a low dose of trazadone at night. I have found for me, Lexapro is one of the drugs that has fewest side effects. In addition to medication I was able to get some time with a therapist one on one to discuss issues from the past. Neither pills are addictive. That has been my experience.
Avatar m tn Hey, I'm on Lexapro 10mg for anxiety. My doctor just prescribed me Trazadone 50mg for insomnia/sleep problems I've been having. I take the Lexapro in the mornings since I have been having the sleep problems. It was worse when I took it at night. Anyway. I've read mixed reviews about taking these two meds. Anyone have any experiences with Lexapro and Trazodone?
Avatar n tn Also he advises that lexapro is non-habit as is the sleep aid/anti depressent trazadone he gave me. I am new to this med also as Ambien CR did not do it. Anyone know what to expect with these? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Call a pharmacist. Walgreens are usually open 24 hours. lol. I call them all the time with questions like that. I take an Lexapro with my klonopin. Klonopin is a benzo, and Lexapro is an antidepressant. What's trazodone? Is that another benzo? Are you taking 2 benzos at the same time? Call your Dr. and ask or call a pharmacist. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn I am now prescribed .5mg xanax 2times a day 20 mg of valium at bed time along with lexapro and trazadone (if needed). I am also prescribed 100mg neurontin 3 times per day in between the xanax to help with withdrawal symptoms. Is this a safe cocktail and is it hard to get off neurontin?
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Lexapro and need to switch to a different brand that is cheaper, such as trazodone. What do you suggest?
1128643 tn?1262483649 Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, amitryptiline, Paxil, trazadone, Serzone...all but MAOIs. They either had no effect or the averse effects outweighed the positive (zoloft kept me afloat by making me numb to all feelings altogether). Finally, in 2003, I was in a study for treatment resistant depression and Lexapro quite literally saved my life. I was later switched to Celexa for financial reasons. I had no problems transitioning and have taken it for the past six years.
Avatar f tn The other med she is considering which helps with mild depression, sleep but not so much anxiety is trazadone. Anyone have experience with this drug during treatment? Any info is helpful. Thank you all.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed trazadone the other day and I was just wondering what your thoughts are. After reading extensively about it I'm hesitant to take it. I was prescribed traz after telling my doctor how long I've been clean and the symptoms I'm having (i.e. major sleep problems, depression, anxiety, no appetite..and so on...I'm sure you all know the list). Has anyone else been on this stuff and should I just listen to the doctor until I see a psych?
Avatar f tn m on Celexa now but am wondering if maybe Lexapro would be better since anxiety is my biggest concern. Has anyone had suggest with Lexapro. Also does Lexapro cause weight gain like Celexa?
458072 tn?1291415186 I am currently weaning off of Lexapro- almost done. It did not cause insomnia in my case. The psychiatrist also said I could take Trazadone (which I was already taking for sleep prior to Lexapro) the whole time I was on Lexapro b/c it can cause insomnia. I didn't need the Trazadone after a while. So for me, Lexapro had no side effects beyond the first week of starting it. I didn't even know I had taken anything. Weaning off has been OK, too. I have weaned VERY slowly.
Avatar n tn Hello, I just switched from Lexapro to Wellbutrin. I was originally taking lexapro for anxiety which I have had for the past 10 or so years. After my daughter was born, I was then taking it for both anxiety and depression. I normally am not a depressed person. Now I switched to Wellbutrin because of the sexual side effects of Lexapro. My concern is that I have felt really dopy the last couple of weeks.
694947 tn?1227987427 I ws thinking about asking for Lexapro or wellbutrin for MDD/GAD and anbian CRr for sleep. I just want to have the joy of life back. I dont find joy in anything anymore, Movies music playing with my kids. Though on Pain killers, It helps the pain it puts me in that zone. I would like to get to that zone with out the opiates. Can a getthere with the other meds? I read a lot of HORRIBLE reviews about cymbalta and wont go that route.
458072 tn?1291415186 I have been on paxil before and it causes weight gain like nobodys business. The dr wrote me a rx for lexapro, but I haven;t used it due to fear of addiction and liver issues and that weight gain issue. Thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated and your input is recieved with much respect. Thank you.........
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for about 10 month, 20 mg. I am also on trazadone 50 mg because of problems with sustaining sound sleep for 8 months after battling serious pain issues after a serious auto accident. I am having side effects such as feeling emotionally numb and my libido is gone. I have a history of panic attacks, anxiety, fears, worry and obsessive thoughts. I have recently began psychotherapy and I have made changes in my diet, exercise and I use supplements.
Avatar f tn t even take a Sudafed without being jittery and feeling strange. Granted, we are all different, but with that being said, I had virtually no side effects from Lexapro. Celexa is very close in chemical makeup, but that one didn't work well for me for my anxiety. I know it does for others, with minimal side effects, so it may be a good choice.
Avatar f tn My opinion is that your doctor is probably right. I'm sorry. I know this means you will have to readjust which is hard and it may mean a brief disruption to your sleep issues. Is there anything else you can use as a temporary aid? But Xanax does become addictive and we can develop tolerance to it. It's a slippery slope to take it long term. A lot of people do successfully use trazadone for sleep.
409410 tn?1251072712 I have been taking medications for anxiety. I am on Lexapro 20mgs and was just recently put on Pamelor_(Nortriptyline). I have been having tremors when I wake up in the morning, but never really any other time of the day. I didn't have Tremors when I was just on the Lexapro (it works on serotonin). Started having them taking the Pamelor. I also noticed having them when Docs tried giving me Cymbalta and Effexor, which work on both.
Avatar f tn (This was the first time in my life) Was put on Lexapro and trazadone for sleep which worked great. Stayed on the Lexapro for 1 1/2+ years and weaned off at the recommendation of my doctor. 3 months later..whammo..another panic attack and the start of the same thing. Went to a new pdoc who told me in 5 minutes I was bipolar. All I had was anxiety never had depression never was any type of manic. She said the anxiety was the mania and started me on a fist full of meds.
Avatar n tn Wellbutrin is stimulating, you may want to discuss this with your doctor. It may be the culprit with your insomnia. Take care.
