lexapro

Avatar f tn m on Celexa now but am wondering if maybe Lexapro would be better since anxiety is my biggest concern. Has anyone had suggest with Lexapro. Also does Lexapro cause weight gain like Celexa?
Avatar n tn Hello, I just switched from Lexapro to Wellbutrin. I was originally taking lexapro for anxiety which I have had for the past 10 or so years. After my daughter was born, I was then taking it for both anxiety and depression. I normally am not a depressed person. Now I switched to Wellbutrin because of the sexual side effects of Lexapro. My concern is that I have felt really dopy the last couple of weeks.
Avatar f tn The zoloft never seemed to work well, would have jitteriness, sweats and would seem to stop working around my period. I am going to see a naturopath and starting progesterone as she thinks that is my issue but I didn't feel I could go off a antidepresant yet so asked to switch to lexapro. Lexapro doesn't seem to be working well, still jittery crying spells etc. Never had anxiety before so at a loss at this point, am only 39 so very frustrating.
Avatar n tn My name is Amy and I'm 26 yrs old. I am trying to concieve and I'm presently not on any medications, however I used to take Lexapro and it works the best for me. I feel as though I'm in great need to be on it again but I am aware that the drug falls under a catagory C (to not take when pregnant) I dont want to put myself at harm so I need to know what anti- depresent to take that would not cause any birth defects or harm to the unborn child.
Avatar f tn t even take a Sudafed without being jittery and feeling strange. Granted, we are all different, but with that being said, I had virtually no side effects from Lexapro. Celexa is very close in chemical makeup, but that one didn't work well for me for my anxiety. I know it does for others, with minimal side effects, so it may be a good choice.
Avatar n tn Just wondering how long they usually last. Been on antidepressants for about 10 years(sarafem, effexor, zoloft) not sure if that makes a difference.
Avatar m tn About 2 years ago, I discontinued taking Lexapro (took for about 8 - 10 years) and have been debating taking it again to help with my anxiety. Last year I was diagnosed with an IRBBB/Incomplete Right Brundle Branch Block. I am concerned about Lexapro and it's cardiovascular side effects, especially QT Prolongation which is listed as a potential side effect. Additionally, I'd like to share that I had an echocardiogram which came back normal.
Avatar f tn lexapro pooped out after many years. i am menopausal and having severe anxiety attacks. ativan for temp. since it's highly addictive. what is better celexa vs zoloft. am confused and scared on stopping ativan and lexapro then adding another med on top of it all. plus i gotta go back to work after the labor day weekend.
Avatar n tn My question is, my psychiatrist recently increased my dosage of Lexapro from 20 mg to 30 mg because I was feeling weepy for a few weeks. I asked her if the Lexapro could just stop working. Or, could antidepressants stop working after time? She said that’s not likely. However, she said that this can happen for some people with a type of bipolar disorder, who also need a mood stabilizer. I asked her if this sounded like me, and she said no.
Avatar f tn Okay everyone I am desperate. I was diagnowed with severe ocd specificallyspecifically relationship OCD after coming off celexa (I weaned off as instructed). Well anyway I got intrusive thoughts wondering if I loved my very loving boyfriend anymore. I doubted everything... had break downsand decoded to go back on celexa got suicidal... the whole 9... long story short... I was switched to lexapro and am now starting week 4.
Avatar f tn this reminded me of a product out thats extremely expensive called sarafem for the treatment of PMDD. Sarafem is a brand for fluoxetine which is just prozac and as a generic, it's only $4 at the pharmacy i work at. but some doctors write scripts for sarafem which is insanely expensive compared to the $4 fluoxetine. anyway, don't know that anything i said helps other than pointing out how drug companies like to rip people off.
Avatar m tn I had gone to my Primary Care Physician after my old Psychaitrist retired and I had an Panic Attack. The PCP told me the lexapro stoppped working and to take Zoloft and Xanax> What a mistake! I had bad reactions to both and my new Psych has put me back on Lexapro and Klonopin and I am feelin. Has any one else had experieces similiar to this.
358304 tn?1409709492 Is it safe to go on and off Lexapro? For instance, I keep a tracker and I notice a cycle about every 3-4 months I go through an anxiety spell, usually caused or triggered by health anxiety. I took Lexapro 2 years ago for about a month or so, then went off of it. Then a year later, I went back on it for a few months, then weaned off...
Avatar m tn Using medications like Lexapro is definitely a personal choice. As with anything, one must way the benefits vs. the costs of anything we do. For me, I thought taking an SSRI like Lexapro helped me tremendously as I sought help through talk therapy. I believe it can be a very powerful tool to use while you learn about your anxiety and the ways which you can confront and deal with it.
439522 tn?1214951189 Quick question. I take 10mg lexapro daily for anxiety, and went cold turkey hydrocodone monday (7.5 mg 4/5 times a day). Will valerian interact with the Lexapro? Any ideas? I'm thinking of taking the valerian tonight to help sleep vs. using a xanax. Trying to beat the stupid RLS...drives me nuts. Yes, I'll try a hot bath before bed...lol....but it happens in the middle of the night.
Avatar f tn I know we're all different. For the past 7 months I've been on Zoloft then switched to Lexapro. I don't know what to try next. I'm suffering and need on something.
Avatar n tn I have been dealing with anxiety for a few years now. I am a 18 year old male. I have anxiety attacks at work and can't think or concentrate. I feel very awkard, uncomfortable, and just plain weird sometimes. I have a friend that is taking Celexa and he said the side effects were a nightmare for 3 weeks but then he got better. I took 5mg of a Celexa and felt horribly weird. I know it has the s enhibitors and the r. The lexapro I want to take has a lot of the r enhibitors.
Avatar f tn I took Tofranil (the brand name med) 100 mg for panic disorder from 1994 to 2004 and always responded well to it. I was switched to Lexapro in 2004, due to wanting to attempt a pregnancy. I took the Lexapro for 5-6 years, but it eventually became ineffective at blocking my panic. The doctor switched me back to Imipramine (because Tofranil brand name is so expensive) and since I've begun taking it I notice many side effects I never experienced while taking the brand name med.
Avatar f tn Look, folks, you can't just switch from Paxil to Prozac. That's what Nursegirl was trying to say. Paxil is one of the most difficult meds to stop taking, and yes, it does come with significant weight gain for many people. It can also make one very tired, just as it can make one very stimulated -- there's no way to tell beforehand how one will react. Personally, I'd stay away from Paxil and Effexor just as Nursegirl said unless they were the last thing left to try.
Avatar m tn Hi Everyone! Just one fast question here... I really need to start again a SSRI for my extreme panic disorder and I want to know if the Celexa will work to stop the panic disorder, since I took it for my social phobia at 60 mg/day back in 1999 for 6 months and it did nothing for the social anxiety and my anxiety level didn't improve on it?
