Lexapro vs clonazepam

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro vs clonazepam

lexapro

Avatar m tn 1. Clonazepam (Klonopin) - for anxiety? It is good you are able to taper down from 1 mg two times daily to 0.5 mg once daily. It is important to taper clonazepam down slowly and not to stop taking it suddenly. If you stop suddenly, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as sweating, uncontrollable shaking, anxiety, changes in behaviors, and possible seizures, etc. 2. Metoprolol ER 50mg - for high blood pressure It is important to manage your blood pressure, especially during pregnancy.
1302779 tn?1287405029 I'm thinking the same thing. My Lexapro, I dunno if it's helping me or not. But at the same time I dont' wanna be on Klonopin forever. I started at 1mg my first week or so, then down to .5mg for a week or so, then I've been on .25mg for about a week now. Def. feeling some fatigue, dunno if it's from the reduction of Klonopin or what. I may slowly taper off my Lexapro til my Dr. get's back into the country.
2102085 tn?1350866645 I have been on Lexapro for five days now as well as .25mg of Clonazepam in the morning and .5mg of Clonazepam at night (clonazepam is the generic of Klonopin). I have still been having panic attacks at night, but the only symptoms that I get are dizziness and extreme hot flashes. Has anyone had luck with Lexapro? I'm sure it is too soon to notice the effects, I just really want to get off the Clonazepam as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn I only will get a panic attack maybe 2-3x a year, so I know that the medicine has helped (for 6 years), but I have to say that it definetly has decreased my sexual relationship with my husband (I have heard this is a common side effect). I have heard that lexapro or wellbutrin do not do this. Can anyone comment on whether or not they have had that negative side effect from any of these meds?
Avatar n tn Have you noticed any side effects on Clonazepam or Lexapro? I am on 10 mg of Lexapro for a while now and added 1 mg of Clonazepam 2 monts ago. I noticed that I get twitches in my fingers and sometimes my fingers shake a little. Does this familiar to anyone?
Avatar n tn Like other benzos, one can develop a tolerance to clonazepam, but it actually has a much longer half life than other benzos like xanax and ativan, so doctors prescribe it more long term. I actually used it for about eight months, but weaned off of it after I got put on an SSRI. I was initially kind of hesitant to do it because I had a bad experience with a different one before I started Zoloft, which ended up working for me.
Avatar m tn She agreed and upped my dose on Lexapro to 15mgs and told me to cut my Clonazepam down to .5mgs in a few days. I did and felt decent for 4-5 days. Days 6-8 felt like I was hit by a truck. I didn't want to get out of bed, severe anxiety, depressed, all the above. I called the Dr back and they told me to go back up to my 1mg of Clonazepam for now until I am stable and we can slowly withdrawal later.
1185895 tn?1266608090 I was just recently switched from my old medication, Lexapro, to Clonazepam. I had been on Lexapro for 9 years and felt it was no longer helping me. I have been having panic attacks for the first time in my life. I have had to call 911 a few times this past year. I now know that it is panic attacks. I have a history of severe hypertension. So, the stress and anxiety just adds to that. My doctor put me on Clonazepam 0.5 mg. 3X daily. I started taking it on January 15. It has helped tremendously.
Avatar f tn t like all the side effects it gave me. Before I got on Lexapro, I took Clonazepam occasionally. It gave me a good 6 to 7 hours of deep sleep. However, ever since I started Lexapro it no longer does that for me. Lexapro gives me the feeling of feeling half awake and half asleep. It gives me vivid dreams too. I'd rather get off it and use Clonazepam when I need it until this stressful time of my life passes. Lexapro is not for me, but it's worked so well on other people.
Avatar f tn However, the Dr wants me off clonazepam so he recommended Lexapro. After a month on Lexapro I feel that it is not for me. The first week on this stuff was horrible. I had constant headaches, fatigue, horrible metallic taste in my mouth. After a month my symptoms subsided but then I started with frequent urination, having vivid wild dreams, constipation, changes in menstrual cycle, foot cramps. My sleep has improved a bit however, the vivid dreams are too wild for me.
772020 tn?1434994216 I have been taking Lexapro for years. It def kept the depression away, but I was very "lax" about everything. Still better than the "angry" me. My doctor switched me over to Cymbalta a month ago and I"m not liking the feeling. I take it in the morning but by 5ish, I'm shaky ... I am having thought and feelings I havent had in many years and I want to switch back to the Lexapro. I also take 1mg of Clanozapam in the morning.
Avatar n tn BUT I DO KNOW I FEEL REAL ANXIETY TODAY AND I WENT ON IT BECAUSE I WAS HAVING A REACTION TO LEXAPRO THAT I WAS ON 1 WEEK, NOW I AM STUCK ON THIS HORRIBLE DRUG. THE LEXAPRO GAVE ME HORRIBLE ANXIETY AND A MANIA FEELING, NOW THIS HORRIBLE ANXIETY IS BACK .
Avatar m tn m a bit confused about taking the combo Wellbutrain/lexapro, because sexual side effect still there,so I think Wellbutrain is useless,if lexapro or Celexa works. Also,I decided to drop the clonazepam, again because seems useless combined with Wellbutrain alone, without lexapro, doesn't help with anxiety/depression. I was considering trying a different Ssri, alone such as Prozac or paxil.Hopefully less sexual side effect then the other two.
1306034 tn?1277541491 I take Lexapro with excellent results along with clonazepam. Lexapro was prescribed for me to take in the morning and it's never made me tired, nor has the clonazepam. But it has helped me immensely! Now is not the time to worry about withdrawal from anything that helps you live your life. I've gone from one anxiety medication to another with no problems, it was done properly and with my doctor's guidance. I feel you will see a big difference.
Avatar f tn So, I've firmly decided that yesterday's dose of lexapro would be my first and last one. My doctor gave me a prescription for Klonopin to replace my xanax but I havent started it yet. I have severe health anxiety and the possibility of Xanax withdrawal scares me to death. I've been taking Xanax 1.5mg a day for exactly a moth and a half. Before that, I used to only take 0.25mg a day.
Avatar m tn i take .5 mg clonazepam b.i.d. for panic disorder. some nights however, i absolutely cannot sleep, actually to the point that i'll go the whole night through to the next day without a minute of sleep. i've been on the same dose for the whole 3 months i've been taking it. please, if anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
Avatar f tn The two most common drugs are, indeed, valium (diazepam) and Klonopin (clonazepam). Xanax and Valium are short-acting and clonazepam is long-acting. My preference would be for the longer-acting clonazepam. The longer acting benzodiazepines, although still highly addictive, tend to have less ferocious withdrawal syndromes. Xanax (alprazolam) is notorious for it's addictiveness and severe withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn I was wondering, this is just my third day on Celexa which I had a good day today without being anxious at all, but then tonight I had a panic attack, is there anything that works better then Clonazepam to help dealing with panic attacks?? I was just curious since my doctor is so afraid of using Clonazepam at high doses, I only take .5 mg twice a day as needed, and my panic attacks can be really severe when I do have one. I have only been on Clonazepam for three months.
Avatar f tn My doctor upped my Lexapro to 20 milligrans and put me back on the clonazepam 2 times a day at 0.5 mg. I weaned off again slowly 1 month down to 1 then another month down to half. At the half mark I started having anxiety again. Now I am on 30 mg of Lexapro and back on clonazapem 2 times a day. Will I ever be able to wean off of this medicine. Should I be weaning at a slower pase. I am afraid that my body has become addicted.
Avatar m tn Lexapro scares me and sam-e who knows what. I am taking clonazepam for gad, doc wants wean me off with lexapro. All drugs scare me but going through tough time.
Avatar m tn I have been on clonazepam 1mg twice a day for quite a long time now (maybe 10 years) for a twitch in multiple parts of my body. I went to a new doctor and he strongly recommended getting off of it due to its strong addictive nature. He recommended cutting my dosage in half every 1-1.5 weeks depending on how I feel. I did: 1mg x2 for a week 1mg at night for a week .5mg x2 for a week .5mg at night for a week and now I'm off.
2102085 tn?1350866645 I have been on SSRIs since I was in middle school for my OCD. I have weaned myself off of Lexapro and Clonazepam (Klonopin) and have not taken anything for 2 weeks now. My dizziness and nausea is still present but quite a bit better than when on my Lexapro. My anxiety has been manageable thus far so I can only hope it stays the same!
Avatar n tn i am on clonazepam 0.5mg night 0.5mg morning ,and stilnox 20mg before bed from the past 5 years.i stared taking it for GAD.i was doing perfectly okay till 3months ago.i statred tapering off clonazepam ,.i experinced sever e withdrawl symptoms.like panic disorder, inablity to concentrate, poor health.sleepness.pounding heart.now my doctor has put me on escitlopram 10mg .i am afraid to tell him that i am on clonazepam and stilnox from the past 5 years.i am taking all of them together.
Avatar m tn The doctor that placed me on Clonazepam explained to me that I would not develop a tolerance with Clonazepam because it stays at a steady-state in your bloodstream. I then talked to a psychiatrist that was doing a study on panic medications, and asked for his opinion, to which he agreed with my prescribing doctor. My pharmacist also explained to me that if I was going to build a tolerance, it would have happened before 11 years.
Avatar f tn About a month ago I was sitting at my mothers house and I started to feel this serious adrenaline rush. I felt like I couldn't sit down. Shortly after my heart started to beat faster, it was much harder to breathe and I lost feeling in my fingers. I can't fully explain this experience because it was one of the most terrifying of my life. It lasted about 20 minutes. After it stopped I just figured I might have just been allergic to something I ate so I brushed it off as nothing.
1477801 tn?1298825416 I would have to agree with Paxiled. There are pros vs. cons on anything we put into our bodies. If you think you need the medication and it helps you cope and get through the day while you go through counseling, then I am a proponent of it. People often think of meds as a 'quick fix' to their problems when anxiety especially is a long term problem that must be confronted with a long term solution in mind.
