Avatar m tn I took Lexapro for several years with excellent results for depression and anxiety. It takes 4-6 weeks for medications like Lexapro to reach a therapeutic level in your system. Xanax is a fast acting anxiety medication which you take on an as needed basis. They work in different ways. Be patient, you will know when it kicks in. Take care.
Avatar f tn I am gonna start lexapro for bad anxiety. Has anyone had good luck with lexapro taking away anxiety? Especially that chest heaviness that comes with anxiety?
Avatar f tn I have had the absolute worst anxiety since I was 2 years old. I started taking Lexapro...but that didnt do anything for me. Then I took Pristiq....and my anxiety went from 100% 24/7 to almost 0...in a matter of 2 weeks. I can honestly say that it has saved my life. I take 50mg which I believe is one of the lowest doses and it worked absolute wonders on me. Everyone is different, but i definitely would encourage you to try it.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for about 5 months.I take it for anxiety. I have really loved the results! I have had a couple moments when I have got really ditzy and confused. That kinda freaks me out! It is definetely from the medication just simply because I know myself. I'm wondering if it can cause brain damage or if there are any long term effects in the brain?
Avatar m tn s an antidepressant of a different category than Lexapro -- and sedation is an unwanted side effect many people experience taking it. Many drugs used for sleep sedate people as an unwanted side effect of the primary purpose of the drug. Once a drug is approved, doctors are allowed to prescribe them for any purpose they want to, and although drug marketers aren't allowed to market them for unapproved purposes, well, look up Seroquel if you want to learn how that actually works out.
Avatar f tn There are many different types of drugs out there to help, may i suggest lexapro, lexapro is an antidepressant used for treating depression and anxiety. talk to your doctor about lexapro. if your health professional prescribed you xanax for longer than a few months then i suggest you look for another GP. sorry to be so upfront but i know the dangers of this drug.
Avatar f tn The NP wrote me a prescription for Wellbutrin, saying it would help with fatigue. I was already on Lexapro for depression long before I started treatment, and I upped my Lexapro dose at week 2. The Lexapro is working nicely at this point, and I am not depressed. I'm definitely very familiar with lack of energy and fatigue that comes from depression, but has anyone used Wellbutrin as an "energy booster" when they aren't depressed?
Avatar f tn She also prescribed me Lexapro for the dizzy spells. She said that SSRIs can be used for dizzy spells (vertigo) associated with inner ear problems and Migraines. I too was concerned when she prescribed the Lexapro b/c I wasn't depressed or had anxiety other than the anxiety that the dizzy spells were causing. I thought she was prescribing it to me b/c she thought I was crazy or something!! She said, "No, you are not crazy, you have inner ear problems/migraines!
Avatar m tn Did one doctor prescribe both of these or two different ones? I commend you for using suboxone for reasons that will benefit your life while trying to work on the mental health piece since addiction recovery and mood issues often go hand in hand. So, good job but this particular combination is one I'd worry about.
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist has had me on Lexapro 10mgs & Xanax 1mgs as needed for quite a while now. However I have been in a deep depression for a while now and she’s added Topamax, Wellbutrin XL to the above ... I’m concerned that is a lot and not sure if I want to add all that to the mix ... any feedback?
Avatar m tn Hi there. If your doctor prescribed Lexapro for anxiety, please don't allow your anxiety to interfere with your treatment. :>) Many people take Lexapro and feel better. Some do decide to go off and tapering significantly helps with any withdrawal. There are lots of horror stories but the ones in which discontinuing a medication was not a problem match the number. So, don't let fear and anxiety stop you from feeling better. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
Avatar f tn Remember, when you start a medication like Lexapro, that there is an adjustment period for this. For me, it took me about a month to get used to it. In my opinion, you are right in that it can cause you to feel a little more on edge in the beginning, but in my experience, they are quite effective in dealing with anxiety.
Avatar n tn The wellbutrin has a more minor effect on anxiety so usually not used for that. Mostly used because there are no sexual side effects.
Avatar n tn I went off of the Lexapro when I became pregnant, which at the time everything seemed fine, and then after he was born was put back on Lexapro for Post Partum Depression. I have never been on anything for anxiety until a couple of months ago when the doctor put me on Xanax to take only when needed to help to combat my mind seeming to go 90 miles a hour sometimes. Since then, my physical symptoms, none of which I knew could be attributed to anxiety, have only gotten worse.
Avatar f tn I took Lexapro 10mg on and off for three years and recently was upped to 15mg for two weeks and then 20mg for 5 weeks. It helped so much before, my symptoms were almost gone! Now it's losing its effectiveness, I think. I felt fine for a week on the new dosage, thought I was improving, only to feel horrible again... I'm going to wait another week (6 weeks in total) but I doubt much difference will be made in that time.
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro (for 6 mths) in the morning. I dun feel groggy and jittery. How long have you been taking Lexapro?? If you are just starting taking it...give your body some time to accept the medcine. But if this concern you yes pls. speak to your Dr..
Avatar f tn I take propranolol, a beta blocker, for akathisia and anxiety. It works very well for anxiety. I think you may be having break-through depression and anxiety meaning it is working in spite of the drugs, not because of the drugs.
Avatar f tn I am BP and used to take lexapro(didnt help me at all).I was on several meds over the years, and the ONLY thing that helps me be stable is the old standby,Zoloft. The problem is, I tend to gain weight so the doc(my psychiatrist) added Topamax 100 mg twice a day.(started this one in March of 2008), and it works just fine for me. I'm stable and no weight gain.I just wanted to share what works for me.
Avatar f tn I used to take Zoloft at 200Mgs a day. Lowest dosage is 50mgs a day and even that dosage is too low for most people.
535882 tn?1396576685 I am not that familiar with either one but you say you have been taking the lexapro for 10 days so see if it will work for you. I would give it a month or two anyways and then if it doesn't seem to be helping try the Cymbalta.
439522 tn?1214951189 I would think if my blood pressure goes down and heart rate, it would have a calming effect. I take 10mg a day of Lexapro for anxiety (have for a few years). Have had no anxiety when on Lexapro...except for now as I go through lortab withdrawals...and the anxiety is as bad as before when I had to start the Lexapro.
