lexapro

1295419 tn?1276822872 Lexapro carries under it's side effects hyPERtension, (high blood pressure) postural hyPOtension, (lowered BP upon changing positions, usually sitting to standing) and tachycardia. If you have only noticed these changes since beginning the Lexapro, I would certainly bring them to the attention of your doctor. They may very well stop when your body adjusts to the meds, but it never hurts to play it safe.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am too experiences horrific effects from coming off 20mg Lexapro. But I can't take all the side effects anymore. I wish I knew what to do to stop the vertigo/dizziness but the only thing I can find on internet (but havent' tried yet) is a motion sickness tablet that contains a vestibular suppressant. Only thing I wanted to mention is that a friend/nutritionist has suggested I take SamE as an alternative to the Lexapro.
Avatar n tn Has anyone else experienced a low heart rate while on lexapro. Took imipramine on/off for 20+ years with the only side effect being heartrate in the 90's - then blood pressure started to go up a little. Went off imipramine and doctor put me on lexapro - now have gained a little weight, am tired, clenching jaw at night, blood pressure back down, but pulse is constantly in the 50's which is freaking me out a little. Have been on lexapro for 6 months now - libido gone also....
Avatar f tn Like... they said at 10mg there are very few side-effects and at 20mg there are noticeable side-effects. But, you obviously don't want to change the dose on your own, as this can be extremely dangerous! But, it would be worth talking to your doctor about if the side-effects don't go away fast enough. Although... most of the time... with SSRIs in general I find, it can take 2 to 4 weeks for side-effects to go away and then they're gone for good.
Avatar m tn Just make sure you monitor your blood pressure on lexapro. Im not saying it will happen to you hopefully it wont but it raised mine alot so be careful. Ive read somewhere that some of these type of drugs are used to treat people with low blood pressure....
Avatar m tn However I am concerned as I suffer from high blood pressure and racing heartbeat and now I am afraid to take the Lexapro as I fear its going to worsen my not so good blood pressure and heart rate. Is this a valid cause for concern?  I DONT want higher blood pressure and heart rate.  Should I continue taking the Xanax as prescribed if I dont wish to take the lexa? Also is it possible to just medicate myself on Xanax and skip the antidepressants altogether!?
Avatar m tn I think they are side effects....either from the lexapro or anxiety or both. I'm taking celexa and remember the side effects. Sweaty, dizzy, drowsy....doctors told me it shouldn't be from the meds but if you read the fine print, you'll find that virtually any side effect is possible and has been reported. I wouldn't get too alarmed...just keep the faith.

Avatar f tn Primary care doc says no I dont have low blood pressure, its most likely the lexapro. He prescibed Kolonsopan for my anxiety. and told me to stop taking the lexapro--well me being a skeptic called my phyciatrist and asked him if I should stop the lexpro---he said no...meanwhile my sister told me that she experienced the same visual disturances while on lexapro and is now taking celexa.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm a 37 yr old male and who has suffered with anxiety for many years. About 2 years ago, I discontinued taking Lexapro (took for about 8 - 10 years) and have been debating taking it again to help with my anxiety. Last year I was diagnosed with an IRBBB/Incomplete Right Brundle Branch Block. I am concerned about Lexapro and it's cardiovascular side effects, especially QT Prolongation which is listed as a potential side effect.
Avatar f tn Give it more time, but not more than a couple months. When a med works, it will have more side effects; it means you're metabolizing it. When you have no side effects, it usually means you aren't metabolizing it and it won't work. The only two meds that ever worked for me were extremely sedating for awhile, until I got used to them.
Avatar f tn I am new to this forum and i would like to ask a question about switching from zoloft to lexapro. I have been on Zoloft for about 10 years and xanax for anxiety/panic disorder. Avatar n tn Have you noticed any side effects on Clonazepam or Lexapro? I am on 10 mg of Lexapro for a while now and added 1 mg of Clonazepam 2 monts ago. I noticed that I get twitches in my fingers and sometimes my fingers shake a little. Does this familiar to anyone?
Avatar f tn Hi Anne, I am on Lexapro 20mg and I've been on it for 1 1/2 months now. I feel pretty good now, my first 2 weeks were a little tough, but my Dr. had switched me from Prozac after 2 weeks straight to the Lexapro. I'm not sure if my side effects were from the Prozac still in my system or if was the Lexapro- or combo of both!! But I did experience headaches for awhile. I stuck it out and the headaches did go away- I would at times take a .
Avatar n tn I never experienced sexual side effects with Lexapro, but I have with other anxiety medications. I didn't like it one bit! So, when I stopped taking those particular meds, I am happy to say that all functions returned to normal :) If you are on Lexapro, there must be a reason (anxiety?) so I wouldn't recommend not being on anything. I'd talk to your doctor and try something else, and if that doesn't work, something else.
Avatar f tn hey, yes i get that pressure feeling to, and im on lexapro, i think its from higher bloody pressure, thats a symptom of high blood pressure, even if you dont generally have high blood pressure, it naturally goes up and down throughout the day and this can be caused by that, i don't think its anything to worry about, i have it most days to, mostly in the mornings or evenings, but goes away after a while when i relax..
Avatar m tn Hello All, I've been having major anxiety for sometime which has turned out into depression. Due to my sensitivity to meds, my doc has prescribed for me to take Lexapro the following way. Week 1: 1/4 of a pill (2.5mg) Week 2: 1/2 of a pill (5mg) Week 3: 3/4 of a pill (7.5mg) Week 4: 1 pill (10mg) I'm currently on day 4 of taking 5mg and still don't feel a difference. Seems like my anxiety is higher and I've been having more depressive moments.

Avatar f tn I currently take 1.5 xanax a day and my psych wants me to switch to klonopin 2mg a day. I'm also supposed to start Lexapro but I'm TERRIFIED of the possible side effects of the switching and starting the lexapro. By the way, I've been taking Xanax for a month and a half now. Please, anybody, who's been through this hell, any input will be greatly appreciated. Is Lexapro going to make my anxiety worse?
