It also gives me tremors and night sweats. I was on Lexapro for many years then it pooped out. I did very well on Lexapro. My anxiety has been a daily battle for the past few months. I exercise, do yoga, go to therapy, on meds to no avail. Has anyone had success on Zoloft for severe anxiety? What about side effects? This drug will make you gain serious weight. Take a look at the Lexapro/weight gain boards. You doctor should really have told you how huge you will get on Lexapro. It's not worth it. Find something else. I've had better luck with natural/herbal remedies for depression (Vitamin Shoppe), sunshine, and meditation. I went from a size 2 to an 8 twice taking Lexapro. Should have learned my lesson the first time. To me, there is nothing more depressing than looking pregnant when I am NOT.

I have been on lexapro for about 5 months.I take it for anxiety. I have really loved the results! I have had a couple moments when I have got really ditzy and confused. That kinda freaks me out! It is definetely from the medication just simply because I know myself. I'm wondering if it can cause brain damage or if there are any long term effects in the brain?
With regards to Lexapro,as I understand it, stopping an SSRI you've taken for so long coldturkey can bring about some nasty changes in brain chemistry.Your brain has gotten accustomed to the 10mg and all of a sudden it doesn't have it, hence increased anxiety and sadness.Slappy i know you know that lexapro has a shorter half-life then most ssris,
maybe you can ask your doctor to switch you to Prozac which has the longest half-life, then you can wean off easier.
I took Lexapro for several years with excellent results for depression and anxiety. It takes 4-6 weeks for medications like Lexapro to reach a therapeutic level in your system. Xanax is a fast acting anxiety medication which you take on an as needed basis. They work in different ways. Be patient, you will know when it kicks in. Take care.
I also took lexapro for approximately 2 years, then it stopped working. Went on prozac, then it stopped working. Now I'm back on lexapro, about 3 weeks now, the depression is lifting. Well, first of all, you don't have to do what a doctor recommends. You can say no. Once you start the medications, depending on how long you've been on them, it's not that easy to just stop them, but you can if you want if you've only been taking them a very short time. I'm assuming you also suffer from anxiety, though you don't say so, otherwise the Xanax would make no sense.
Hey, I'm on Lexapro 10mg for anxiety. My doctor just prescribed me Trazadone 50mg for insomnia/sleep problems I've been having. I take the Lexapro in the mornings since I have been having the sleep problems. It was worse when I took it at night. Anyway. I've read mixed reviews about taking these two meds. There are many different types of drugs out there to help, may i suggest lexapro, lexapro is an antidepressant used for treating depression and anxiety. talk to your doctor about lexapro. if your health professional prescribed you xanax for longer than a few months then i suggest you look for another GP. sorry to be so upfront but i know the dangers of this drug.
Monday was two weeks on lexapro. Side effects have dissipated . Depression, I don't know, I guess it is better somewhat. I'm back and forth between 5mg and 10mg. I'm becoming a little paranoid after reading how hard it is to come off of the lexapro and I have to take the xanax because I really can't sleep on it. Good thing is there is no more fatigue :) My question is, how afraid of drug addition should I be or should I just worry about that later and get my head together.
And with most people on lexapro the doctor played with the mgs to see if it worked. I have been on every med out there for anxiety and depression and by far...... lexapro worked the best after getting my mgs right, but i have to admit it was rough in the begining. I would think the zoloft should kick in in 2 weeks or so.
as he called it. He prescribed me 10mg of lexapro, and told me to take it for a few months. This scares me to death, because I do not want to start something that I will have a hard time getting off of. I also suffer from severe constipation, and I do not want anything to effect that including weight gain. My physician and GI doctor said it was safe to take. I do not want to take these, but I will admit that I have not felt like myslef in months, and I would love to feel normal again.
