Lexapro nightmares

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro nightmares

lexapro

Avatar f tn Since beginning the Lexapro, I have had several very vivid nightmares/terrors. They are so awful, I fear going to sleep, and after I have one, it takes at least an hour to get myself to try to return to bed. I was taking Effexor 150mg just prior to starting Lexapro, and was told to stop it before starting Lexapro which I did, but could there be lingering Effexor in my system causing these nightmares?
Avatar f tn I got vivid dreams on Paxil, but I kind of liked them, and I get some nightmares on Lexapro, at least those rare nights when I can get into a deep enough sleep for them, but nightmares are just your brain shedding superfluous matter, nothing to worry about. They also make for good short stories, if you're into that kind of thing.
Avatar n tn Getting ready to start Lexapro and I want to know the side effects you have experienced? I have been on Wellbutrion and Cymbalta and both were not for me. Made my anxiety worse. I lost weight on both but wanted to know the weight issue with Lexapro since there seems to be one. Thanks for the help.
Avatar n tn My sister is here with me unable to sleep for three weeks now since stopping lexapro. she has severe back pain and is on oxytocin 120 twice daily and has been for years. she is beside herself with insomnia and just recently has started having nightmares really vividly almost immediately on getting to sleep. she no longer feels safe in her home so i think her paranioa levels are way up. any advice out there - could this be caused by the withdrawal from the lexapro??
847195 tn?1296171647 ve had really weird dreams, sometimes good buy mostly nightmares, last night i had really nice dreams, i have about 5 or 6 a night that i can remember! I wanted to no if this is from the lexapro i just went on 3 weeks ago? or is it my anxiety? i have had anxiety for a very long time, about 3 years and extremely bad panic attacks and very very bad globulus hystercus, but never really had crazy dreams like this from any of that! Avatar f tn I took lexapro when I first started meds and it made me tired all the time and memory loss, which I couldnt remember what I did yesterday, type thing. I went from lexapro to welbutrin, then I was taking lexapro and welbutrin... but now the doc has me on Zoloft, which I feel is better for me than lexapro and welbutrin, I just dont like the sexual side affects.. which I cannot enjoy my sexual desires.. but im gonna go back to the doc for that...
Avatar n tn I started out on Lexapro for anxiety. Absolutely loved the way I felt on it. Had sexual side effects and gained some weight but I am not positive is from the Lexapro but I think may be. The Dr gave me Effexor which knocked me out for 3 days, slept 36 hours straight, then Celexa which I broke out in a rash all over my body from. He tried Wellbutrin but that did nothing. I didn't lose weight on it like some people do.
135456 tn?1301437624 I''ve started now on 10 mg at bedtime of Lexapro but the entire next day I am so sleepy. I was wondering will this tiredness wear off or should I try only 5 mg. Has anyone succesfully used 5 mg and received relief from their anxiety and depression? Thanks in advance.

276730 tn?1327962946 Howevr before tx I have never suffered nightmares, there isnt one night that has gone by since I started tx up until last night ( and last night was a doozy)!! that I havent had a BAD nightmare and I mean bad. Has anyone heard of interferon doing this? I really cant handle it anymore. its to the point I dont want to go into bed at night. And I mean bad!
Avatar m tn But a note to say, keep a journal (like the Tracker from this forum) so that you know how your meds are effecting you as you go along. At 20mg of Lexapro I was okay, at 30mg I got bad nightmares and had to be reduced. Different doses of medicines work differently for different people. Trial and error, and patience, are your allies. You can take anti-anxiety meds or herbal preparations short-term, while your Lexapro kicks in (it takes up to three weeks).
Avatar n tn Well, Dr. said today at my 3 week check up that I should not be having nightmares or restless legs to the extreme that I'm having, so she is stopping the Lexapro. I'm not even a little improved either which she said I should be a tiny bit better, instead of worse.
Avatar f tn I have been trying to wean my wife off Lexapro. Presently she is on 5mg daily. Originally she was on 20mg daily. As I understand the withdrawal regiment as one should not reduce the dosage until the patient is stabilized on that particular dosage. Since she has been on 5mg (2 months) we have experienced several symptoms and they have dissipated, however one symptom has lingered for three weeks. This one is absolutely driving her nuts.
Avatar f tn I am going through my 3rd bout of panic attacks (lasting 1+ weeks VS. one every once in a while). 1st time I was about 14, 2nd time 27, & now again @ 32. I take Lexapro & usually only take .25 mg Xanax on an 'as needed' basis but have been taking one every 6hrs for almost a week since this 3rd bout started. Some days are better than others & I am trying to cope the best I know how. I saw a new therapist that I like very much for the 2nd time yesturday.
358304 tn?1409709492 I believe I have properly weaned myself off of the Lexapro and Klonopin. I weaned off both medications within 2-3 weeks. I cut the Lexapro in half taking 5mg for about a week, then .25mg, then smaller and smaller. Same with Klonopin, .5mg then to .25mg to .0125mg or something like that. My anxiety is GONE! Which is GREAT! =) But I have had a few symptoms, and I don't know if it's rebound anxiety symptoms or if it's from withdrawal from the benzo and the anti-depressant.
3926262 tn?1350439336 I am also currently taking Lexapro to help with anxiety/depression. I have been experiencing numerous very graphic and disturbing dreams for the last couple of weeks. I am not sure if it's the tx or the Lexapro....or a combination of both? I have even awakened my husband by yelling out in my sleep.
397118 tn?1219762250 Hi everyone I hope all is well with all of you, ok well I have been doing the amino acid protoccol and let me tell you is the best thing ever I'm not taking my lexapro or wellbutrin and trileptal now for 3 weeks I think anyways all is been great.

Avatar m tn Only took Cymbalta for 3 months but had side effects of being off balance lightheaded feeling like I am walking in a boat now I being taken off the drug and having nightmares the sweats headaches anyone had this experience with this drug?
Avatar f tn After that, I have had no further problems with the Lamictal and it does seem to be helping control my bp mood swings. I take it with 20mg Lexapro and am also losing the 30 lbs. I put on with Seroquel/Depakote last winter.
Avatar n tn I am in the medical profession and five years ago I suddenly lost my younger sister to cancer. She had been misdiagnosed and died within 12 weeks of diagnosis. Three weeks after my sister was diagnosed my father was also diagnosed with metastatic adenocarcinoma which was also terminal, although my Dad lived for 18 months following his diagnosis.
3133784 tn?1345257850 I took Zolaft for a while but I was having nightmares and had bad thoughts...but Lexapro was great. But of course the side effects may be different for you....ask your doctor and try it for a while. Good Luck.
