Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro jaw clenching

lexapro

1302779 tn?1287405029 hey all just wanted to hear some experience about "jaw clenching" with taking lexapro. Been on it for a month at 15mg and the only real side affect im having is jaw clenching. was wondering if this will be less with time?
1539379 tn?1294332115 HEY i too am on 40 mg of celexa since oct and saw my specialist yesterday and we discussed my problem with the med is jaw clenching! I also suffer with migraines so jaw clenching and migraines not a good mix! I also take 05 mg klonopin with clexa in the morning and I feel the klonopin helps more than the celexa with anxiety. that being said I am slowly weaning off the celexa very slowly and see if the klonopin will be enough. the jaw clenching especially at night is not fun.
Avatar f tn Then I read on this site recently that Lexapro was causing jaw clenching. So there you have it. These are just weird stuff, these meds.
Avatar f tn Does it go away after my body adjust to the medicne. I also get body twitches while i start to fall asleep from the lexapro. The lexapro seems to be helping but I can't stand biting my tongue and clenching my teeth every night. I have an over the counter mouth guard. It is uncomfortable to sleep with but it helps.
Avatar f tn And about the jaw clenching -- I was put on Lexapro a couple of years ago and have had this weird ear fullness that started some months ago. I finally saw an ENT, who said it was from jaw clenching. Is this from the Lexapro?
17020225 tn?1455749597 I started taking celexa about 2 weeks ago and have noticed that recently I have been clenching my jaw a lot without realizing it. At night and during the day. I don't even notice I have been doing it until my jaw gets sore and my teeth start to hurt. I didn't have this problem prior to taking celexa. Has anyone else had this happen? Could it be caused by the medication?
Avatar f tn Interesting jaw clenching from Lexapro, I am also on Lexapro. I thought I clenched my jaw because I was stressed and anxious. Perhaps I am dealing with a little of both, the ENT Dr. told me I has tinnitus, but that there is nothing I can do about it, there are some herbal supplements that I can take I guess. Thank You for your reply!
Avatar n tn Tremors throughout the body (very noticeable in the hands), jaw pain (teeth clenching), constant LOUD ringing in ears are the major issues. I won't even begin to mention the many minor issues. PLEASE HELP!!! Raiders77 Male, 44 years old, with no phycological issues (UNTIL NOW!!!).
Avatar n tn Has anyone else experienced a low heart rate while on lexapro. Took imipramine on/off for 20+ years with the only side effect being heartrate in the 90's - then blood pressure started to go up a little. Went off imipramine and doctor put me on lexapro - now have gained a little weight, am tired, clenching jaw at night, blood pressure back down, but pulse is constantly in the 50's which is freaking me out a little. Have been on lexapro for 6 months now - libido gone also....
Avatar m tn I did get pressure in my ears from Lexapro, though -- seemed to be from jaw clenching, one of its listed side effects.
358304 tn?1409709492 I have the same issues, my jaw is always sore. I try to catch myself clenching, and stop, but like I said, most of the time, I don't even realize I am doing it. This can cause ear aches, headaches, pain when chewing, it can wreak havoc on your teeth! My jaw gets extremely tired when I chew things like steak or gum. Try to be aware of it, and see if you can notice when you are doing it. Good Luck to you!
Avatar f tn Who knows? Lexapro is known to cause jaw clenching; I found out when my ears kept feeling stuffed and I finally saw an ENT who told me it was from jaw clenching. So who knows what Zoloft can do to any particular person? On the other hand, after just three days, it isn't causing it anymore, and if you still have it, it's more likely your anxiety is holding on to it -- conditioned thinking is what plagues us anxiety sufferers. Work on this with your CBT person and see if it helps.

1550654 tn?1294747554 Oh mommy i should add that i suffered a dislocated jaw 2 years ago and thats how my addiction was born. but since then even the slightest clenching causes excruciating pain in my entire face and ears. pay attention and see if your clenching or grinding your teeth when you manage to catch some sleep. a dental mouthguard has done wonders for me.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if this is all due to clenching my teeth. So I wanted to ask if anyone with teeth clenching is having weird constant head sensations or like pressure ? I just don't know why this won't go away.
Avatar f tn I clench my jaw in my sleep. I even catch myself doing it during the day. My doctor told me that I clenched because my bite was off, so I wore braces for 3 1/2 years to re-align my jaw. That didn't work. I am now on my 2nd mouth guard. I find that the guard makes my clenching worse (I got the 2nd one because my current doctor said the 1st must have been poorly fitted. Wrong!). I am convinced that botox is my only hope to loosen my jaw muscles and stop my clenching.
Avatar n tn nausea, bloating, dry mouth, jaw clenching. The worst was that I felt like a zombie - there was no way I could function at home, let alone at work. In fact, I can barely remember what I did in those six days on the drug. I know that side effects normally subside and I know I didn't give it enough time but I would rather be alert and panicky. I personally think my doctor was too quick to prescribe the medication - I was in and out of his office in 7 minutes.
Avatar m tn When your dentist told you that you had TMJ, did he not recommend a mouthpiece be made for you to cushion it? It's possible your dentist doesn't specialize in TMJ -- some do, some don't. If you don't get this taken care of, you will grind your teeth down and crack them, so you need a night guard. Maybe even a day guard. Now, it might not be TMJ, clenching isn't always TMJ. TMJ is the jaw, clenching is clenching. See a dentist who knows how to treat this.
1305767 tn?1361192676 m in horrible pain. I have anxiety and I have bad issues with clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth in my sleep and sometimes I clench my jaw in the day.
Avatar m tn t recall it starting until I started on medication, but I know clenching in general from anxiety or from anti-depressants can cause clenching of teeth, which can cause the jaw pain. I also have the exact same thing with my arms. I have, too, been afraid of it being heart related. Anxiety can do some really crazy things to our bodies. When I am really freaked out sometimes it helps me to read the symptoms of anxiety and it makes me feel better to see that what I am experiencing is normal.
Avatar f tn It is interesting that my main complaint is that I feel the jaw is too forward and up. This type of clenching is locking my jaw and causing the shortness of breath. With OSA I notice that there are special splints to place the jaw forward a bit to clear the throat. So I don't have OSA, I must have just jaw clenching problem. Thank you again.
Avatar n tn I woke up yesterday with horrendous jaw pain (mostly left side). Has anyone experience this? Any suggestions on how to relieve the pain? Or what may be causing it?
Avatar m tn It really feels like this jaw clenching fist clenching sort of energy . If this is indeed related to hypothyroid, why? I read that low thyroid triggers adrenal stuff could that be it?
Avatar f tn For me this is such a coinsidence to see this post. I am always clenching my jaw.. Mainly subconsciously. Clenching it then swollowing. And I constantly feel as if my throat is going to close over or something or that something will just click in place somewhere and stop me breathing some how. I dont no if it is exactly what you are experiencing but maybe it is simalar.
Avatar f tn t always bother but I know that it can be damaging. Plus my jaw tends to get tight and sore kind of a lot. Thanks for the suggestions!
1166402 tn?1303847056 I found out about the Lexapro and Celexa when I kept feeling like my ears were full. Went to the ENT, and he said it was most likely jaw clenching, looked up the meds on some sites and there it was, a common side effect. With imipramine and Paxil, the magnesium worked, but it hasn't with Lexapro and Celexa, assuming they're the cause.
