lexapro

Avatar n tn ve looked at several medication blog sites and have seen numerous posts of women reporting hair loss from anti-depressants including Wellbutrin so I was really questioning the validity of the "less than 1%" finding from the Wellbutrin trials.
20790871 tn?1507161421 I am a healthy 20 year old female. I am a former collegiate long-distance runner; I stopped running competitively a few months ago, but still run and workout regularly. I noticed that shortly after I started college (2 years ago), my hair stopped growing completely. It used to be long and thick, but over the past couple years it has become very thin and damaged and simply doesn't grow. In addition to this, I have also been getting acne on my jaw and neck-which I didn't use to get.
Avatar n tn Are you sure that the hair loss is being caused by the Welbutrin? I have never heard of any AD medication causing hair loss. Yes Welbutrine can be taken along with Zoloft. The two medications work very differently and odds of a drug interaction between the two is very low. I know several people taking the two together as prescribed by their Psychiatrist. You may be better off lowering that Welbutrin dosage and adding a low dosage of Zoloft. I would still consult with your P-doc first.

639006 tn?1245023846 ve never had severe hair loss from meds, but I have had diffuse loss which began when I started Lamictal three years ago. I have a slight bald spot on the crown of my head. I just noticed it and I don't know if it's noticable to other people. But with my ongoing loss I lose hair most noticably in the shower. I clogged my drain last year. But my hair is think and curly, which makes the it less of a cosmetic problem.
Avatar f tn also lexapro says it causes hair loss. i couldnt find anything about seroquel causing hair loss. seroquel is my main drug now, i take 300mg seroquel and 300mg seroquel xr at night. so i told my psy doctor and he said i could start tapering off my lithium, so it took me 6 months to get off of it. anyway i had a postive attuite when my hair first fell out in march this year. i was told it will grow back dont worry by the end of the year it will be back to normal.
Avatar f tn I went to the doc and was treated for Anxiety/Depression with Zoloft and recently have been put on YAZ. I have very bad night sweats (wake up damp), no hot flashes, hair loss, dry skin, anxiety which gets worse before period, dry hair, itchy skin, temp has been running at 97, headaches were bad until I started taking YAZ, allergies which I have never had, etc. Anyone thinking this sounds like peri-menopause? I am 38, my mom says hers started at 35.
Avatar m tn My big question is when are the doctors going to stop telling everyone that they do not gain weight on antidepressants, I have been on lexapro now for 2 yrs, and have gained 25 lbs, I watch what I eat exercise, dance, etc... and the weight will NOT come off. My doctor tells me well you are are at the age of premenopause and at that age, that you are going to gain weight, well I am getting tired of hearing it.
Avatar n tn I took Zoloft for 8 years with good results, however the effect of the drug lessoned and I began trying newer medications ie, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Cymbalta, Triliptal, Lexapro, Lamictal, Luvox, all of which caused significant hair loss. I am now on Celexa and my hair is starting to fall out. It is very disappointing. I wish I could do without an antidepressant, but I know that I have Unipolar/Bipolar II disorder and without medication I have an extremely difficult time.

Avatar m tn I remember when I was little I was pulling my hair out and just nibbling on it, breaking the hair in little pieces and swallowing. Can that really give me hair balls if it's broken into tiny pieces? I have no idea why I did it or why 2 years ago I picked back up on that nasty habit! I'm 17 now, the obsession for chewing on it then kind of went to just feeling my scalp excessively but I still pull my hair out n'all that stuff.
Avatar m tn I hope it helps with some of the invasive thoughts, but im worried about hair loss. anyone else have any experience?
Avatar n tn I have been having problems with my thyroid for years. I have prescribed lexapro and was told I had fibromyalgia. I had seen a rheumatoidologist and although my levels are low they are within normal limits. I was told that the risk don't outway the benefits.
Avatar m tn hello, i need some help. i guess i will just start from the beginning although i doubt anyone will bother to read it all. about 3 months ago i was at work. i started to feel REAL out of it and kinda dizzy. i eventually had to leave and went to a doctor. she told me that i had "fluid in my ears" and gave me a bunch of medicine to treat that. i told her that i was also feeling anxious but she didn't seem to care and just dis-reguarded that.
Avatar m tn anxiety attacks, tiredness, loss of concentration, hair loss, extended sleeping periods, and low energy drive. The Doctor suggested that even though my antibodies were a little high it wasn't enough to cause my symptoms. I have to go back every 6 months for thryoid checkups because the antibodies could trigger an thyroid problem in the future. My question is should I go to an endo doctor or take her word and take the lexapro she subscribed me?
Avatar n tn Hi does anyone out there seem to have short term memory loss, its really weird I feel so forgetful at the moment, is this an anxiety symptom, Im on amytripilene, I dont think that has any effect on memory, its just a bit weird.
Avatar f tn recommended that I switch from Lexapro (called Lexamil where I live) to Wellbutrin to reduce unwanted side effects of Lexapro. I have been taking Lexapro for 5 years now (10 mg daily). She said to taper off of Lexapro in two weeks, first taking 1/2 a tablet each day to 1/2 a tablet every other day while introducing a tablet of Wellbutrin 150 mg. each day during this process.
Avatar n tn 2 weeks ago my hairdresser informed me of much hairloss at my temples and around hairline, but more thyroid type loss pattern than estrogen. So my Dr. is pulling me off cytomel, I had already been reduced to 5cg qid, AM temp 97.2-97.7, dependding on how late I sleep, the later the higher. I have just gotten to the 2/day level. I'm wondering are there any w/d symptoms people have experience from coming off of cytomel?
1302779 tn?1287405029 After moving here to florida from nyc last Christmas and coming down with this migraine situation I recently realized it spun me into a depression/anxious state of being. II am seeing a therapist now for 3 weeks and started lexapro about 3 weeks ago so i am doing what is needed for myself to heal. The loss of identity and creativity is the hardest part for me! Im just hoping that I will find myself through this process.
Avatar f tn Wellbutrin is more stimulating than Lexapro, so it causes less weight gain and less loss of libido. Doesn't mean it's a weight loss aid, just means it doesn't promote weight gain the way ssris do with some people because it doesn't slow the metabolism. The weight loss should come over time if you stay off the ssris, assuming the wellbutrin is working for you as an antidepressant.
Avatar f tn There are plenty of antidpressants on the market and sure there are ones that do not cause weight gain. In fact some might cause weight loss. My hypo sister takes lexapro, she hasn't gained weight, in fact she lost big time, although not saying it is due to lexapro. Thyroid treatment should be based on the latest TSH level with another test in 4 to 6 weeks to confirm the first TSH test. Treatment should not be based on previous years because TSH can go back to normal in some people.
Avatar f tn I took lexapro when I first started meds and it made me tired all the time and memory loss, which I couldnt remember what I did yesterday, type thing. I went from lexapro to welbutrin, then I was taking lexapro and welbutrin... but now the doc has me on Zoloft, which I feel is better for me than lexapro and welbutrin, I just dont like the sexual side affects.. which I cannot enjoy my sexual desires.. but im gonna go back to the doc for that...
