Avatar m tn I had bad muscle spasms and stuttering. I was put on benztropine which put the bad spasms and stuttering to a slower pace. I was taken off that medicine by my regualar doctor because of what it did to my eyesight. I only get mild ticks and spasms thruout the day and only stutter at times. I still have a constant shaking in my left hand which i did not have before. I also have head pressure on my left temple that will not go away.
Avatar f tn If so, would this explain my cog issues, and memory, stuttering etc. Problem is, when I saw this dr, I had no cog issues only tremors, no stuttering or vertigo, or ON, all that started like 1 month later, one sx after another. What do you think. Is someone stupid here or what? Or am I overreacting?
Avatar m tn I'm 27 yrs old & wondering if it's too late for speech therapy because of my age. I stutter sometimes & can't pronounce some words well. Like it's hard to make it come out. Feels like it's getting worse each passing year. When I was younger, I know I spoke better. Wasn't as bad like now. Thinking about speech therapy.

Avatar n tn My 3.5 yr. old son has begun stuttering. For a long time now (about 6 months or so) he's been repeating words, but I haven't been too concerned about this. However, over the last week or so, he struggles to get the first few letters out. For instance, he'll ask "wwwwwhhhere's the dog?". And I've noticed it often involves the "what", "where", and "why" questions. It doesn't happen all the time.
Avatar f tn I first stuttered last year, never in my life had i ever had difficulty communicating, i'm a talker lol. I also lost all my nouns, very weird to not be able to name anything or anyone. it was alarming and confusing to just suddenly start walking like a drunk string puppet, not knowing what something i've known for ever was called and on top of that stuttering and slurring the words i did find.
Avatar f tn The clinical presentation of stroke-associated stuttering is variable and it is important to rule out neurogenic stuttering which typically appears following some sort of injury or disease to the central nervous system such as with stroke. For proper evaluation, it is best that you discuss this with your attending physician or your speech-language pathologist. Treatment will depend on the underlying issue.
Avatar f tn Our younger son and both his children stuttered a bit when they reached three years of age. It can be a sign of nervousness or anxiousness or even the fact that the brain is working faster than the mouth. Our son and granddaughter stopped stuttering after about six months; it was almost a year before our grandson stopped this behaviour (he is a bit more anxious than his sister or father). So, I suspect your son might be similar in his behaviour.
390140 tn?1219883889 Have you seen anyone report stuttering or increased stuttering after using Abilify? Is there currently any research regarding Abilify and stuttering?
Avatar f tn And, yes, I have noticed some stuttering, but mostly when I am excited about something and try to talk too fast. I have been on these meds for about a month, and I do see the stuttering becoming less and less. For me, I think it is just part of my body adjusting to the new mix, and that it will go away. All I can tell you is that maybe the same will happen for you, and if not and it's really bothersome, go back to your doctor.
Avatar f tn Are you referring to stuttering? If so, it might ease your worries to know that both our son and granddaughter stuttered for a few months at about the age of your daughter. I think it has to do with the anxiety of growing up and leaving Mom for short periods of time - as school, sports, other activities, etc.
390140 tn?1219883889 My 8-yo son has been on Abilify for a year now (for impulsivity and aggression related to his Asperger's diagnosis). He just started to "stutter" about 2 months ago, and we wonder whether it is related to ths Abilify. I can't find much online relating the two, though.

Avatar m tn My certified speech language pathologist after a year of visiting has no idea what I have, but at the end was treating me for Adductor spasmodic dysphonia, and tells me there’s no way I have Aphasia because I’m able to write. I was transferred to the SLP after I was appointed to the Stuttering Center, where they had no idea what I had. I’ve been told by a doctor I have a psychosomatic disorder. I've been told everything.

Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for about 5 months.I take it for anxiety. I have really loved the results! I have had a couple moments when I have got really ditzy and confused. Avatar f tn I was unconscious for about half an hour and gained consciousness only to realize I had developed a stutter. I went to the ER, had a full work up and was kept for 3 days. All tests came back negative. There is no visible brain bleed, or swelling, no visible damage. Nothing. No answer to why I had a stutter. After 2 & 1/2 weeks my stutter went away. On 01/03/2018 I woke up with the worst headache of my life, and my stutter was back.
