Lexapro for sleep

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro for sleep

lexapro

Avatar f tn I have been taking .5mg of Xanax in the evening for sleep. I had tried various prescription sleep aids with no results. My doctor has put me on Lexapro and told to ween off of the Xanax. I just reduced dosage to half a pill and had no side effects...thank goodness. I was unaware of all the side effects of Xanax. I hope I can ween off of it and be able to sleep. The posts have been very informative!
Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
Avatar m tn Hey, I'm on Lexapro 10mg for anxiety. My doctor just prescribed me Trazadone 50mg for insomnia/sleep problems I've been having. I take the Lexapro in the mornings since I have been having the sleep problems. It was worse when I took it at night. Anyway. I've read mixed reviews about taking these two meds. Anyone have any experiences with Lexapro and Trazodone?
Avatar f tn It gave me a good 6 to 7 hours of deep sleep. However, ever since I started Lexapro it no longer does that for me. Lexapro gives me the feeling of feeling half awake and half asleep. It gives me vivid dreams too. I'd rather get off it and use Clonazepam when I need it until this stressful time of my life passes. Lexapro is not for me, but it's worked so well on other people. I actually purchased the Fisher Wallace Stimulator to help with my anxiety.
Avatar m tn Lexapro, the brand name for escitalopram, is a widely prescribed medication known for its effectiveness in managing mood disorders. This antidepressant, belonging to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class, offers several benefits to those struggling with conditions like major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. https://buylexaproonlinepharmacy.weebly.
Avatar n tn I went off of the Lexapro when I became pregnant, which at the time everything seemed fine, and then after he was born was put back on Lexapro for Post Partum Depression. I have never been on anything for anxiety until a couple of months ago when the doctor put me on Xanax to take only when needed to help to combat my mind seeming to go 90 miles a hour sometimes. Since then, my physical symptoms, none of which I knew could be attributed to anxiety, have only gotten worse.
Avatar f tn I have been off of Lexapro for one week now and I'm having a lot of vertigo, dizziness, and "brain zaps". Is/Are there any supplement(s) I can take or anything I can do to help relieve any of this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have been taking the cipralex for 3 months. Lately I have been experiencing head spinning before I go to sleep. When I am asleep I am woken up by dizziness when turning. Also just upon waking I seem to get these strange impulses through my body which make the dizziness really bad. The dizziness usually goes away once I am awake and walking about. My anxiety usually is worse at night I am really panicking about this and would be really grateful for any help.
Avatar m tn I got a prescription for Ambien and it DID work - for three days. Then the best I could hope for was maybe 3 or 4 hours of sleep a night even WITH Ambien. If I took Benedryl (the ingredient in most over-the-counter non-prescription sleep aids) along with the Ambien, I would be unconscious for maybe 7 or 8 hours - but that wasn't quality sleep. (According to everything I have read, if you don't go into REM or other stages, your state of unconsciousness is pretty useless.
Avatar f tn s not a day time med, I became very tired, groggy and sleepy. I am currently taking ambien 10mg every night for sleep. should I take another lexapro tonight? I can't take it before work? It is safe to take them both at the same time? Or start over tomorrow night? Im new to the anxity/depression meds............ so any thoughts, experiences to share would help me.
Avatar f tn I completely agree, I would not suggest trying a new medication right now with your new job. Medication is such a trial an error process; it sometimes can be so unbearable on the wrong medication. If you have something that works then I say stay on it. It sounds like Lexapro does work for you. If you can't sleep tonight then maybe just go back to taking it in the morning. I hope I wasn't coming on to negative about Lexapro because I know that it works for many people.
Avatar n tn Also a sleep aid. I think he will take me of Buspirone when the Lexapro reaches its working period. I asked and he informed me that this is not a lifetime thing and you can get off this stuff. Also he advises that lexapro is non-habit as is the sleep aid/anti depressent trazadone he gave me. I am new to this med also as Ambien CR did not do it. Anyone know what to expect with these? Thanks.
1448936 tn?1363206346 when i was on lexapro i had panic attacks for 2 weeks straight.Cuz they told me it would take 2 to 4 weeks and that time they never even told me about xanax or even tried to offer to me but that lexapro i thought i was dying everyday couldn't sleep or eat at all.But 2 weeks was enough of that crazy panic .Sorry i don't have a good thing to say about lexapro i too am very sensitive to anti meds tried 4 different one's didn't work.
Avatar m tn I only ask because Lexapro would be a treatment for a chronic anxiety problem, but not for a physiological problem or a one-time heart disturbance. And even if it is an anxiety problem, usually people are sent to therapy before being put on a medication if they know what they're doing when the problem as you describe it isn't chronic and therefore hasn't been treated at all or diagnosed by an expert in psychology.
Avatar f tn The NP wrote me a prescription for Wellbutrin, saying it would help with fatigue. I was already on Lexapro for depression long before I started treatment, and I upped my Lexapro dose at week 2. The Lexapro is working nicely at this point, and I am not depressed. I'm definitely very familiar with lack of energy and fatigue that comes from depression, but has anyone used Wellbutrin as an "energy booster" when they aren't depressed?
Avatar m tn Lexapro for my anxiouty and depression.Side effects include diarrhea, sleep, loss of appetite and slight headache.Man i tell you,i had everyone of them!! It was horrible as if i were poisoned.Has anyone ever taken these? Also when i tell her about this she'll probably discontinue the use,if not i am and DON'T plan on taking another. What else is there as far as medicines for this? I know there are several but in general which do they usually prescribe? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have been in therapy for 2 years and on Lexapro for about 15 months. My doctor weened me off of Lexapro over a course of 4 months and said that I was doing great and he didn't see the need for me to have therapy any longer. I really felt as though I do have the tools to handle the anxiety on my own without the help from Lexapro or so I thought.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've been taking 10 mg Lexapro for about three months, and my doctor recently told me to quit taking it so it will be out of my system for my sleep study at the end of the month. I've been off of the Lexapro for around 5 days or so, and ever since I've experienced what seems like a constant headache that seems to be causing nausea. It's getting difficult for me to sit through my classes in college without feeling very ill.
723959 tn?1314744225 I have been taking lexapro for like 6 or 7years now. Well at night it started to feel like my heart hurt. Went to the doctor and had high blood pressure i could not figure it out and my doc could not either, because it has always been perfect. 531282 tn?1229966724 One of the major side effects for lexapro is somnolence. Somnolence is described as a prolonged drowsiness or sleepiness.
397118 tn?1219762250 I have been on 10 mg of lexapro for 1 year then dr. upped it to 20 mg. in the meantime I began 300 mg of triliptal. Back in November I had a jittery breakdown. It turned out I was on a seratonin overload. I am off the lexapro and am still on triliptol. 150 mg in the a.m. and 300 mg in the evening. I feel so much better. I don't take anything for sleep. If I want to have a good deep sleep I take calcium/magnesium combo. It works within 15 min. of putting my head down.
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist told me to take it at night because it might make me sleepy. I also take Klonopin .5 mg twice a day for the past 3 years for an anxiety disorder .How long does Lexapro usually take to work? Do you actually feel happier and want to get out of bed and do things? I asked if there will be any serious side effects and he told me "No". I read a few reviews and some people experienced weight gain.
1325193 tn?1450127436 I recently started on the generic Lexapro in April and found it not to be as good as the brand Lexapro. I had taken the brand Lexapro off and on for 10 years with absolutely no side affect, except for diaherra the first 2 weeks. I've found that the generica Lexapro gave me headaches, made me more anxious and now for the past 2 weeks I can not sleep straight through the night without getting up every hour. I'm trying to wean myself off it as I can't go without sleep with a toddler.
Avatar n tn My sister is here with me unable to sleep for three weeks now since stopping lexapro. she has severe back pain and is on oxytocin 120 twice daily and has been for years. she is beside herself with insomnia and just recently has started having nightmares really vividly almost immediately on getting to sleep. she no longer feels safe in her home so i think her paranioa levels are way up. any advice out there - could this be caused by the withdrawal from the lexapro??
Avatar n tn I have a borderline personality disorder, but I'm not bipolar (as far as I know) and I'm taking Seroquel (don't know why) and Lexapro (for anxiaty & depression). I've read Seroquel is for bipolar, maniac depression and schizofrenia but I'm not sure which of this three aplies in my case. I cut myself, have burned, starve, binge, make myself throw up, have anxiaty atacks and I am generally depressed.....
750172 tn?1256147076 i've been on lexapro for quite some time. had a few side effects at first, headaches, nausa, could'nt sleep, but they passed. the ambien caused me to become depressed though it helped with sleep. we're all different. don't go looking for side effects,. if you're anything like me if you read it you get it.
Avatar f tn m feeling anxious before bed but no matter what I wake up around 730 for no reason. I wake up panic for a minute then doze back off for a little while. Very strange.
