lexapro

Avatar m tn I think each person is a bit different and I did have different feelings starting each one, but then again my life was in different modes during the beginning of each pill so I don't know if it was the nature of my stresses or the effects of the pills that made the difference. With Celexa, I felt calmer and more stressless in like four or five days. In about a week the constant feelings of impending doom were gone.
Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
358304 tn?1409709492 I took lexapro last year for anxiety... now I'm having anxiety/depression pretty bad... going to go see the Dr. tomorrow. Hoping he will put me on something... don't want to feel like this anymore... Think there is hope in medicine these days? My buddy Jeff told me, there is no reason why anyone should feel the way I feel this day in age.. with all the medicines they have out there.. Of course, I kind of want to refuse medicine... but I have to be logic.
Avatar n tn He was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder but very mild. Other than that, he is fine. Thank you for your time.
17020225 tn?1455749597 I also have health anxiety, and mild ocd. I have taken pretty much all the anxiety medications for some period of time but quit using them after a short period for one reason or another. So I'm not sure which ones really work the best. But I do know when I tried lexapro it seemed to make me sick. I am currently on klonopin. Which works great when you start to get anxious or have panic attacks. But it doesn't keep them from coming.
Avatar f tn I would say that mild side effects are common and worth ( I use to be able to take meds and was on Lexapro for a while) however mild anxiety is okay but extreme anxiety is not considered a normal side effect and if you have a panic attack or freak out when you start, stop and call your doctor as that is not normal. You will be able to tell the difference. Extreme anxiety can make you manic and feel really uncomfortable. But mild side effects are normal.
Avatar n tn I wake up in the morning with severe anxiety that usually calms down around noon, then i have mild anxiety for the rest of the day. After the morning episodes I feel worn out, tired. Is this a normal side effect while getting used to the lexapro for my anxiety to get worse before it gets better? I hope so or else i have to quit taking it. Currently i am on 5mg of lexapro and I have ativan 1mg when needed.
Avatar f tn I am extremely stressed. I started taking Lexapro this morning for anxiety. About 3hours after taking it I started having a burning feeling on the back of my neck. then the next time in my chest, never in my face. It would stay a few minutes and then go completely away. What is this? I have never had hot flashes. If it is a hot flash, I read that anti-depressants can trigger hotflashes on one article but then on others I read they help with hot flashes. Was this a hot flash?
1717715 tn?1318297295 Hey guys, I know its more of a "varies from person to person" kind of thing, but has anyone had any experience with the SSNRI Cymbalta? either good or bad? any side affects? etc... I dont suffer from any depression, just anxiety and panic attacks out of the blue. I'm on Klonopin now but the doc prescribed me the cymbalta and told me if i wanted, i could fill it and try it.
404138 tn?1308941656 I've tried several and found that Lexapro was the best for me. Although I did have spells of anxiety, it wasn't as bad or putting me out of commission. I find this very important because you're able to use other methods of trying to control or work through your anxiety. By using cognitive behavioural therapy, I was able to work with the Lexapro and soothe my anxiety. It might take some time to kick in.
Avatar n tn Hi. The lexapro didn't work for my anxiety, but did help with depression. I was only on it a short time. Have been on trazadone for many years. It helps with falling asleep (not with staying asleep though). Didn't have a problem getting off the lexapro. Tried once to get off the trazadone and the only problem was insomnia. I've tried both Ambien and Ambien CR and neither one work at all for me - trazadone works better than ambien for me.
Avatar f tn Starting Lexapro is the hardest part, if you can get through the terrible feeling that occurred for me and others I know for about the first 3 days and more mild symptoms for the first week, you will be fine.
Avatar f tn Many times, the treatment for PMDD is an antidepressant, so in a sense, if the period is causing some of your anxiety, you're on the right track, I just personally would have liked to have seen you try the Lexapro versus the Zoloft (just my opinion). Also, sometimes (not uncommonly actually), people who once tolerated a certain medication pretty well, have a much harder time adjusting to it during subsequent courses of treatment. That happened to me with Lexapro.
Avatar f tn Thank you for the advice. I suffer from mild depression. My main symptom is anxiety. I am not the type to lie in bed every chance I get. I like to get up early. I never take naps. I feel lethargic since starting this medicine. I think it's a side effect. I guess it's better than severe anxiety, but wish I had a little more energy. Avatar f tn I was on Lexapro for a little over a year. I was only taking 5mg a day. Since I lost my health insurance I slowing got off taking the medication because I couldn't afford it. It's been about two weeks since I took my last pill and I'm feeling odd. Having strange symptoms. I'm very mean at times and the newest thing happened two days ago, I get this strange pain that goes from one temple up to the top of my head and over to my other temple. It last maybe 5 seconds.
488191 tn?1210285779 my doc just gave me a script for lexapro... i suffer from anxiety and some depression..ive tried zanix and it worded very welll for me but she says it can be addictive..then she tells me that lexapro at first can make me more anxious...great just what i needed to hear !! now im scared to take it..any input would be appreciated!!
Avatar f tn lexapro takes at leat 2-3 weeks to start building up and working as an anti-depressant..so since youve only been on it for a month you should have no wd's from it, you could have mild discomfort but its all mental, its all in your head.. congrats on day 13 you are absolutely over the hardest part the wd's should be non existent, the only aspect will be the mental part of wds. It will create pain, cravings, anxiety, restlessness, etc..
Avatar f tn Just by the comments on this website and in general Zoloft is probably the best of the ssris for anxiety. Prozac tends to be stimulating, so it is generally not as good, but when it works it's great because it has the least problems with stopping. Effexor is very stimulating, as it also targets adrenalin, so it's not usually prescribed for primary anxiety. It's a very hard drug to stop taking, so taper off slowly.
396099 tn?1216254986 I would take a Lexapro and get a litttle sleepy for about an hour. Then all the classic anxiety symproms would just flood over me. And this was getting progressivly worse over the last week not better. I called my doctor to inform him of this and kind of thought he'd suggest toughing it out but instead he felt that the zoloft would be better for me. I trust his instincts so I'm going to give it an honest go and see what happens.

Avatar f tn ive been on Lexapro 10mg for 2.5 years now. I started taking it for extreme panic attacks and mild depression. for a while its worked fine, but gradualy over the last 6 months or so I feel as if my anxiety has gotten worse, or less manageable, and my depression has deepened more than it ever was. and by that I mean it is harder and harder to pull myself out of it. basically I do not feel like me, like I am no longer on the right path to dealing with the anxiety and depression.
Avatar m tn Hello I have been off of Lexapro 20mg for about 2 weeks now. I weaned off the medication like my doctor told me to do. I took the lexapro for about 3 months or so. Now that I am off the lexapro I just feel wierd. I am still taking xanax and just wondering if that is what is making me not feel like myself. Like i just feel as if i dont care about anything or anyone. and just act cocky. I am never like this and just need some advice on what is going on.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for about 5 months.I take it for anxiety. I have really loved the results! I have had a couple moments when I have got really ditzy and confused. That kinda freaks me out! It is definetely from the medication just simply because I know myself. I'm wondering if it can cause brain damage or if there are any long term effects in the brain?
