lexapro

Avatar n tn One difference is that Celexa is available in generic form and Lexapro is not which means theoretically generic Celexa (generic form) should be less costly. Lexapro and Celexa are not interchangeable, and they are not approved for all of the same uses. Both are approved for the treatment of depression. However, only Lexapro is approved to treat anxiety.
Avatar m tn I have taken Wellbutrin and my husband does for bipolar (him) and we did not gain wt. on it. It just did not work for me, so I switched to Lexapro. It helped me in less than a week. I have been on it for several years and actually lost wt. while on it. I was actively trying to lose wt. and had no problems doing it while taking the Lexapro.

Avatar m tn Hey, I'm on Lexapro 10mg for anxiety. My doctor just prescribed me Trazadone 50mg for insomnia/sleep problems I've been having. I take the Lexapro in the mornings since I have been having the sleep problems. It was worse when I took it at night. Anyway. I've read mixed reviews about taking these two meds. Anyone have any experiences with Lexapro and Trazodone?
Avatar m tn I only ask because Lexapro would be a treatment for a chronic anxiety problem, but not for a physiological problem or a one-time heart disturbance. And even if it is an anxiety problem, usually people are sent to therapy before being put on a medication if they know what they're doing when the problem as you describe it isn't chronic and therefore hasn't been treated at all or diagnosed by an expert in psychology.

Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for almost 4 months. I have had anxiety and now depression for over 2 years. What a crazy disorder to have. It's so disabling. I still deal with anxiety and depression daily and I am on 15 mg of lexapro. It is better but I still am dealing with it. Can anyone tell me what antidepressant works best? Is wellbutrin better for anxiety?
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist told me to take it at night because it might make me sleepy. I also take Klonopin .5 mg twice a day for the past 3 years for an anxiety disorder .How long does Lexapro usually take to work? Do you actually feel happier and want to get out of bed and do things? I asked if there will be any serious side effects and he told me "No". I read a few reviews and some people experienced weight gain.
Avatar f tn personally, i believe that one pill less, is simpler and better for my overall health. i have huge mood swings during treatment, mostly i am able to control. also i fear that being on AD for so long would be hard to quit after i finish treating. sometimes, life is all about attitude. try to take a positive attitude while you're at it, you'll be surprised by what a huge difference it can make. but whatever choice you make, i believe it will be the right choice.

Avatar f tn I used to take Lexapro for about a year, but never tried the generic counter part as they were not avalible at that time. Your question: "Is there that much of a difference in brand name and generic brand?" Well, there isn't supposed to be. In fact by FDA law all Generic medications must have the exact amount and kind of active ingreduant. BUT, there is some evedence that in some (not all) cases that Generic equivilent medication can (sometimes) be less effective.
535882 tn?1396576685 feeling much better .. week 4 on lexapro.. sleeping good. not obsessing on things. less fatiqued. less nerves feelings. much better.
396332 tn?1320003615 Escitalopram, (Lexapro) needs to reach therapeutic levels in your body, which can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks. While you are waiting for this level to be reached, you are not completly "covered" from experiencing anxiety attacks. It is NOT the Lexapro causing you to BEGIN having more attacks. You're simply feeling the anxiety which was already there and which the Lex will eventually control. How long have you been on it?
Avatar f tn It gave me a good 6 to 7 hours of deep sleep. However, ever since I started Lexapro it no longer does that for me. Lexapro gives me the feeling of feeling half awake and half asleep. It gives me vivid dreams too. I'd rather get off it and use Clonazepam when I need it until this stressful time of my life passes. Lexapro is not for me, but it's worked so well on other people. I actually purchased the Fisher Wallace Stimulator to help with my anxiety.
Avatar n tn Paxil was very sedating for me for quite some time after I started on it. Lexapro was much less when I was on that. But I'm with Julie, I'd find out why you were switched from a med with the lowest level of reported bad side effects to one with the most if the Lexapro was working fine for you. Very odd. So she's right, I'd find out why. I would personally never change from a medication that was working, it's not easy to find one that does work.
Avatar n tn Finally I went to a doctor, and he prescribed me 5 mg of Lexapro. Right away, I felt better. Less angry, less anxious, and just more positive thoughts about life altogether. However, after a few months, I had lost my sex drive completely. I'm 26, and I don't think I'm ready for that yet. And I was falling asleep at the wheel and any time I sat down longer than 5 minutes. So my doctor supplemented me with 100 mg of wellbutrin. Well, so far I really like the wellbutrin.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for about 5 months.I take it for anxiety. I have really loved the results! I have had a couple moments when I have got really ditzy and confused. That kinda freaks me out! It is definetely from the medication just simply because I know myself. I'm wondering if it can cause brain damage or if there are any long term effects in the brain?
Avatar m tn For me, Lexapro caused A LOT of nausia. Its not necessarily a bad thing though, because my psyciatrist explained to me that you have brain cells in your stomach and Lexapro works to balence out the chemical Seratonin in your brain (chemical for happiness). Seratonin is also present in your stomach so when your nausious its actually just the seratonin becoming more balanced. It also made my anxiety much worse for the first week, but then it lessened after that.
397118 tn?1219762250 I have been on 10 mg of lexapro for 1 year then dr. upped it to 20 mg. in the meantime I began 300 mg of triliptal. Back in November I had a jittery breakdown. It turned out I was on a seratonin overload. I am off the lexapro and am still on triliptol. 150 mg in the a.m. and 300 mg in the evening. I feel so much better. I don't take anything for sleep. If I want to have a good deep sleep I take calcium/magnesium combo. It works within 15 min. of putting my head down.
