Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro (for 6 mths) in the morning. I dun feel groggy and jittery. How long have you been taking Lexapro?? If you are just starting taking it...give your body some time to accept the medcine. But if this concern you yes pls. speak to your Dr..
689327 tn?1240229164 Hi lyerhc. I was on Lexapro for only 3 full weeks. What you described, is the very reason I too decieded to talk with my doctor and have him take me off. At 2 weeks, I was becoming more and more dull with each passing day. I could not cry, even when I wanted or needed too. I did not care to carry a conversation with anyone; nor, did I care to listen to one.
396099 tn?1216254986 m not one to recommend substituting one pill for another but I did take Lexapro for 2 months after a bad divorce and it really helped with the highs and lows. I went right off of it (10mg 2 times a day) with no problem.
Avatar n tn I went to a nuerologist who put me on topamax, I take 100mg twice a day, for about 1 month now. I also suffer from depression for about 20 yrs. I have been taking lexapro for about a year. The Dr. feels the lexapro isnt helping my headaches. The topamax took some of the pressure of but I still suffer, he added vivactyl which i thought was a migraine medication until I looked it up and found out it was a antidepressant.
Avatar n tn I have been on lexapro for almost 3 years with good results. Over the last 2 months, I have been experiencing increased anxiety with panic attacks again. I was trying to wean off slowly but started to take 10 mg daily again for the past 2 weeks. I have been having feelings of going to pass out, sweating, headaches that I wake up with and nervousness. I am afraid to go out to stores again for fear that I will pass out, especially if it is very hot.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for about 5 months.I take it for anxiety. I have really loved the results! I have had a couple moments when I have got really ditzy and confused. That kinda freaks me out! It is definetely from the medication just simply because I know myself. I'm wondering if it can cause brain damage or if there are any long term effects in the brain?
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro for several years with excellent results for depression and anxiety. It takes 4-6 weeks for medications like Lexapro to reach a therapeutic level in your system. Xanax is a fast acting anxiety medication which you take on an as needed basis. They work in different ways. Be patient, you will know when it kicks in. Take care.
476654 tn?1207852799 Ok, I am a college grad student who has recently come back to school for another degree, and I use fish oil for anxiety- I am horrible with people my own age or older. I am fine with the kids I work with, but my age and older- ugh! Anyways, I take effexor and fish oil (used to take lexapro, it was tough getting off trust me), and I would say stay on it, and add the fish oil. Maybe consider getting the dose lowered.
Avatar n tn 5 mg sections) and starting with ¾ (7.5mg) for two weeks, then ½ tablet (5mg) for two weeks, then ¼ (2.5mg) for 2 weeks for a very gradual taper. Again, consulting your doctor first is important so your taper can be monitored for any symptoms you may experience.
Avatar f tn I have been taking tramadol for almost 9 years and finally got off of it because I was just so tired of it and want my life back. I have three kids I need to be there for and about to start an intense two year program to become a neurodiagnostic tech. I am worried I am not going to be able to get through it because of the depression from the withdrawals. My Dr prescribed lexapro for the depression has anyone had experience coming off the tram and starting a ssri to help with depression?
Avatar f tn I am gonna start lexapro for bad anxiety. Has anyone had good luck with lexapro taking away anxiety? Especially that chest heaviness that comes with anxiety?
Avatar f tn I was on lexapro for three years and accidentally took another seratonic drug with it. I got seratonin syndrome and this happened one more time with nyquil. I started getting sick from the lexapro several months later and quit cold turkey. It was very hard with the horrible side effects. I now have sensitivity to anything that raises seratonin (st. johns wort,5htp,coffee) sometimes vitamins and pain killers will bother me also and alcohol is a no no.

Avatar f tn Hi All, I recently I took Nitrofurantoin 100 mg for a UTI and broke out in severely itchy rash, had vomiting, nausea and diarrhea. I took 2 doses and gyno doctor asked me to stop taking this medicine. I have taken this medication several times before but I listened to my doctor and stopped ASAP. Symptoms disappeared except I still have diarrhea 4 days later, yellow in color. I also have pain under right rib. I’m scared in pastx I have had gastritis, diverticulosis & had CT that showed 2.
Avatar f tn It also gives me tremors and night sweats. I was on Lexapro for many years then it pooped out. I did very well on Lexapro. My anxiety has been a daily battle for the past few months. I exercise, do yoga, go to therapy, on meds to no avail. Has anyone had success on Zoloft for severe anxiety? What about side effects? I've read it can be somewhat stimulating which is my problem with the Effexor.
Avatar f tn as he called it. He prescribed me 10mg of lexapro, and told me to take it for a few months. This scares me to death, because I do not want to start something that I will have a hard time getting off of. I also suffer from severe constipation, and I do not want anything to effect that including weight gain. My physician and GI doctor said it was safe to take. I do not want to take these, but I will admit that I have not felt like myslef in months, and I would love to feel normal again.
Avatar m tn With regards to Lexapro,as I understand it, stopping an SSRI you've taken for so long coldturkey can bring about some nasty changes in brain chemistry.Your brain has gotten accustomed to the 10mg and all of a sudden it doesn't have it, hence increased anxiety and sadness.Slappy i know you know that lexapro has a shorter half-life then most ssris, maybe you can ask your doctor to switch you to Prozac which has the longest half-life, then you can wean off easier.
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro for a while a few years ago but now my insurance won't cover it. At the time, there were sexual side effects too. Now my insurance covers Celexa. I tried Celexa and it was definitely not a good thing, threw me hypomanic/manic. If I could, I would take the Lexapro again and just take the medicine for the side effects (which are covered by my insurance!). I don't remember any weight gain on Lexapro either.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed and have been dealing with thyroid cancer for almost 2 years now. Ive finally caved and decided to try another medicine to help with depression/anxiety. my doctor gave me lexapro, 5 mg to start. I took it last night before bed and right now I feel horrible. Im dizzy, tired and just out of it. Will this go away? I cant take care of my two young kids feeling like this so if anyone else had this expirience please let me know how it went.
Avatar f tn Did you just enter menopause? Because if you did, it could be hormones. But given you've been on a med for years, you must have had an anxiety problem for years. You don't say how long you've been taking the ativan or how often. If you only take it when you absolutely have to, not on a daily basis, you're not going to get addicted to it and it won't be as hard to stop taking.
Avatar m tn Can I take L-Tyrosine if I have to take 10mg of Lexapro and 300mg of Wellbutrin? I am also on Avacor (a mixture between norvasc and benicar) for high blood pressure. I have OCD and have to take these meds.
