Avatar f tn I have been on 10mg of Lexapro for three years. A couple of years ago, I tried to come off of it, but was unsuccessful. My OB told me to simply stop taking it, which I was skeptical about. I stopped, but felt funny, so I went back on it. I cut down to 5 mg and was on that for a year or so. After the birth of my twins, another OB suggested I go back to 10 mg of Lexapro to help with anxiety. What is your suggestion on how to come off Lexapro? Thank you in advance for your help.
687049 tn?1272340093 Hi. I was on Lexapro 10mg and PA took me off to start me on Savella. I have had extreme dizziness and pounding heart and spots in front of my eyes when I stand up. PA says this is from coming off the Lexapro. I have also been nauseous probably 5/7days a week. Did anyone else have nausea and dizziness possibly from the Savella? If you did, can you remember how long it lasted? Any other comments on your experience with Savella would also be appreciated. Thanks!
1166402 tn?1303847056 Could also be my cervical discs. A lot of reasons for pain. I found out about the Lexapro and Celexa when I kept feeling like my ears were full. Went to the ENT, and he said it was most likely jaw clenching, looked up the meds on some sites and there it was, a common side effect. With imipramine and Paxil, the magnesium worked, but it hasn't with Lexapro and Celexa, assuming they're the cause.
Avatar n tn ve been taking the Duragesic Pain Patch 100mcg x 48 hrs and (2 )hydrocodone 10/325mg 2-3 times a day. For depression I take 20mg of Lexapro daily and Valium only as needed for anxiety attacks. For HBP I take Hyzarr and Inderal LA. My problem is I'm becoming less and less motivated to the point most days I stay in bed. And if I do get out for the day say shopping and errands for 4-6 hours than I'm totally spent the next day. I mean I sleep all day with barely waking up.Just exhausted!
553995 tn?1332018840 Cymbalta is an FDA approved medicine for Fibromyalgia (FM), anxiety, and pain. It works on keeping Serotonin (mood) where it is needed and Norepinephrine which works on pain chemicals to stay in the brain where needed. I think I'm going to try it again, or Trazadone. When I first took Cymbalta I did not know I was in the throws of Lymes disease. I took it for three years but even though it helped, I thought it was side effects I was having when, in actuality it may have been the Lymes.
Avatar f tn Hey Lori, I'm taking L-tyrosine as well but it's in my supplement called 5 htp which has other minerals in it and is supposed to be helpful for fibromyalgia and mood. I think it may be helping me some too so if you find it's working stay with it. good luck!!
Avatar f tn Thinking about trying Lexapro for generalized anxiety. Any advice or experiences? I have previously tried Buspar (had no effect) and Zoloft which made me constantly nauseous.
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro (for 6 mths) in the morning. I dun feel groggy and jittery. How long have you been taking Lexapro?? If you are just starting taking it...give your body some time to accept the medcine. But if this concern you yes pls. speak to your Dr..
Avatar n tn My doc has me started out on 2.5 mg of Lexapro, roughly that is, I'm breaking 10 mg's into 4th's, so basically it is not exact so someday's I might be getting 3-3.5 while other days I might be getting 1.5-2.0. She says to just stick with this until I feel comfortable bumping up to 5 mg, and then doing the same going to 10mg. She is not very specific about anything. My question is I have anxiety right now so I don't know if it is side effects from the 2.
Avatar n tn I have been having problems with my thyroid for years. I have prescribed lexapro and was told I had fibromyalgia. I had seen a rheumatoidologist and although my levels are low they are within normal limits. I was told that the risk don't outway the benefits.
Avatar f tn t felt this close to normal in years, i still have flares, but not nearly as bad as they were. Google LDN for Fibromyalgia, you will find a Stanford University study, and other great info. Check it out, it is worth it. also you need to get it from a compounding pharmacy because as of now it is only made in 50mg capsules, the max dose for Fibro patients is 4.5 mg.
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for about 5 months.I take it for anxiety. I have really loved the results! I have had a couple moments when I have got really ditzy and confused. That kinda freaks me out! It is definetely from the medication just simply because I know myself. I'm wondering if it can cause brain damage or if there are any long term effects in the brain?
8496079 tn?1398412516 I was put on Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) yesterday by my doctor for my Fibromyalgia Condition in addition to the Norco 7.5/325 I can take up to 4 pills day as needed for the massive pain I'm in.
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro for several years with excellent results for depression and anxiety. It takes 4-6 weeks for medications like Lexapro to reach a therapeutic level in your system. Xanax is a fast acting anxiety medication which you take on an as needed basis. They work in different ways. Be patient, you will know when it kicks in. Take care.

Avatar n tn 5 mg sections) and starting with ¾ (7.5mg) for two weeks, then ½ tablet (5mg) for two weeks, then ¼ (2.5mg) for 2 weeks for a very gradual taper. Again, consulting your doctor first is important so your taper can be monitored for any symptoms you may experience.
Avatar f tn I am gonna start lexapro for bad anxiety. Has anyone had good luck with lexapro taking away anxiety? Especially that chest heaviness that comes with anxiety?

Avatar f tn It also gives me tremors and night sweats. I was on Lexapro for many years then it pooped out. I did very well on Lexapro. My anxiety has been a daily battle for the past few months. I exercise, do yoga, go to therapy, on meds to no avail. Has anyone had success on Zoloft for severe anxiety? What about side effects? I've read it can be somewhat stimulating which is my problem with the Effexor.
Avatar f tn as he called it. He prescribed me 10mg of lexapro, and told me to take it for a few months. This scares me to death, because I do not want to start something that I will have a hard time getting off of. I also suffer from severe constipation, and I do not want anything to effect that including weight gain. My physician and GI doctor said it was safe to take. I do not want to take these, but I will admit that I have not felt like myslef in months, and I would love to feel normal again.
Avatar m tn With regards to Lexapro,as I understand it, stopping an SSRI you've taken for so long coldturkey can bring about some nasty changes in brain chemistry.Your brain has gotten accustomed to the 10mg and all of a sudden it doesn't have it, hence increased anxiety and sadness.Slappy i know you know that lexapro has a shorter half-life then most ssris, maybe you can ask your doctor to switch you to Prozac which has the longest half-life, then you can wean off easier.
