Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro for add

lexapro

1325193 tn?1450127436 Ah, the scenarios. That is probably what is causing part of your anxiety. I do that, too, although I have been working on ways to stop that type of thinking. As for the Lexapro, do you think that increasing it may be causing these problems? I don't know anything about it, just a thought. Maybe go back to taking it as directed. Hopefully someone who knows more about it will answer soon. Keep plugging away and posting.
Avatar f tn As for Lexapro. I have been taking this for a short time (a few months and I have weight problems) and thus far, no extra weight on account of it. Knock on wood.
Avatar f tn Your family doctor is not the best for helping you with this. You need to see a psychiatrist for a diagnosis, and they are most knowlegable when it comes to these types of medications. Then see what type of psychologist he recommends. You're not on a medication specifically for ADD/ADHD. Ziac is for high blood pressure and I doubt you have this at 20! Do you know why it was given to you? Imitrex is for migraines, do you get migraine headaches?
Avatar f tn This won't seem to answer your question right away, but bear with me: I'm 31, was diagnosed with ADD when I was 16, also diagnosed with OCD when I was 29 (although it is pretty mild- mostly anxiety triggered by various things such as my children getting sick or something, but I do not really have compulsive activity). I also tend to get onsets of depression (again, not severe).
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist has had me on Lexapro 10mgs & Xanax 1mgs as needed for quite a while now. However I have been in a deep depression for a while now and she’s added Topamax, Wellbutrin XL to the above ... I’m concerned that is a lot and not sure if I want to add all that to the mix ... any feedback?
Avatar f tn I was on Lexapro for 2 years for anxiety (no ADD yet diagnosed) and I felt better, but gained 30 pounds. Now I need to decide what I am comfortable to start taking to deal with the ADD, as it is causing problems at work (no focus, scattered, etc.) Does anyone have any suggestions as to what meds that they were successful with (I know all meds effect people differently, but so I have an idea of whats out there).
Avatar m tn Can I take L-Tyrosine if I have to take 10mg of Lexapro and 300mg of Wellbutrin? I am also on Avacor (a mixture between norvasc and benicar) for high blood pressure. I have OCD and have to take these meds.
Avatar n tn Its being recommended for me to change from Lexapro to Wellbutrin due to attempting to treat symptons of ADD but my Psy says its not ADD. With the Holidays coming and My mom showing up for them, I dont want to be tapering off Lexapro while she is here for 3 weeks. Since Im only on 10MG of Lexapro can I chance getting on with Wellbutrin at this time?
571966 tn?1217110203 t give up because when you find the right med for you, you can lead a normal healthy life. It turns out that Lexapro was right for me but it may not be right for you. Keep in touch with your doc often so he/she can keep adjusting your meds to what's right for you. Hope this helps. Hang in there and don't give up!! :-). Praying for you.
Avatar f tn It has been frustrating over the years and a struggle in every aspect of my life, even telling my family and friends I was seeing a shrink for ADD...well they were far from supportive, laughing as if i was crazy! I do work in the accounting field after all I couldn't possibly have ADD! am glad to hear that more adults are being diagnosed without symptoms as a child. i won't tell me shrink though, he seems to think he knows everything!
Avatar f tn been taking alprazolam ( generic for xanax) for about 4 years....for the last several months, anxiety has gotten worse, and very depressed...dr. gave me choice of changing to klonopin or adding selexa to my alprazolam.....anybody have any advice on which would be better....
Avatar m tn ve been through tons of medications for symptoms, but have found Lexapro and welbutrin together to be the most helpful. Even though this combo helps, I know there is so much room for improvement because I am still so depressed. Currently on Lexapro 40 Bupropion XL 300 Desoxyn 30mg (ADHD) Rozerem 8 mg for sleep If you have any ideas as to what would be a safe third adjunct here please let me know! Thank you!
991895 tn?1259351987 I've been on Lexapro 20 mg for almost 2 years. I also have ADD and I've been taking adderol for about 5. Seems like for the past year or so I've been having numerous vivid dreams every night and i can ALWAYS remember them clearly. There are two guys from my past that are always the stars of my dreams.
Avatar f tn It also gives me tremors and night sweats. I was on Lexapro for many years then it pooped out. I did very well on Lexapro. My anxiety has been a daily battle for the past few months. I exercise, do yoga, go to therapy, on meds to no avail. Has anyone had success on Zoloft for severe anxiety? What about side effects? I've read it can be somewhat stimulating which is my problem with the Effexor.
2102085 tn?1350866645 She put me on a plan where i decrease my Lexapro and slowly add Paxil. I am currently on only 5mg of Lexapro. My nausea has decreased but still miserable and now it is mixed with Lexapro withdrawl symptoms, which as you may know, is a nightmare. I am seriously considering not starting the Paxil and just getting off SSRIs all together. At least for a while if not for good. I just cannot handle this medication roller coaster! Any thoughts or experiences? Please advise! What should I do?
650397 tn?1228831384 Let me add info. I have been taking 10mg of lexapro for about a year and a half. Could I need a larger dose??
Avatar m tn could this be the case?, , could it have been anxiety all along?, i swore up and down i had add. lexapro seems to be working.
476654 tn?1207852799 Ok, I am a college grad student who has recently come back to school for another degree, and I use fish oil for anxiety- I am horrible with people my own age or older. I am fine with the kids I work with, but my age and older- ugh! Anyways, I take effexor and fish oil (used to take lexapro, it was tough getting off trust me), and I would say stay on it, and add the fish oil. Maybe consider getting the dose lowered.
Avatar f tn im not sure about birth control but i can add to your list. im a student of psychotherapy and a long time anxiety suffer and im on lexapro now with very good results. good luck if you give me like 10minutes i can get you the info.
Avatar f tn I take Lexapro, I was also Diagnosed with GAD, and I was diagnosed with ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder, Lexapro dosnt really have any side effects, but one thing I notice, is that my anxiety seems to no longer be a extreme issue, except during high levels of drama and such. It does make me drowsy, and for me, works 24/7 I dont really notice the side effects for me, only one I can really feel is the drowsy/tired feeling, it makes me want to go to bed.. But this is just me.
1287128 tn?1331134538 ( even though its not a stimulant ive read mixed reviews. I dont quite understand how adhd meds work. Im wondering if anyone has a suggestion or simular experience with the problems ive had and what works. She said if straterra didnt work she wanted me to try adderall. i dont want a racing heart... i dont understand making me jittery will allow me to focus better?!
1295419 tn?1276822872 Hi, I have been taking Lexapro for severe GAD for the last 3 weeks. I do notice a difference and I have not been obsessing over things as much as before. However I still do have anxiety, especially in the mornings. In others experience, does this continue to get better? I know it can take 4-6 weeks to reach optimal effects. I just didn't know if the Lexapro would only take the edge off and I would still continue to have anxiety. Any input would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I'm currently taking 20mg of Lexapro and 150mg of Wellbutrin. I've taken Lexapro for about 2 years now, starting at 5mg, then 10mg, now 20mg and added Wellbutrin a few months ago. I'm seeing a psychiatrist and a talk therapist but wanted to check in with the online community.
Avatar n tn I have psychosis and my psychiatrist refuses to give me adderall for my ADD becasue it makes psychosis worse. The only thing she will prescribe for my ADD is strattera It is better living with the ADD untreated than to use adderall in a situation like this.
396332 tn?1320003615 Escitalopram, (Lexapro) needs to reach therapeutic levels in your body, which can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks. While you are waiting for this level to be reached, you are not completly "covered" from experiencing anxiety attacks. It is NOT the Lexapro causing you to BEGIN having more attacks. You're simply feeling the anxiety which was already there and which the Lex will eventually control. How long have you been on it?
616534 tn?1233236497 I am now on Bupropreon (sorry for the spelling) which is the opposite of Lexapro and it works better for me as it treats my ADD and my mood swings.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what the max is but if that is the max and you are still having trouble, I would personally give it a few more weeks and then probably try something that works better. It's important though that therapy takes place along with the medication to at least try to get to the cause of the anxiety.
