Lexapro and wellbutrin side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro and wellbutrin side effects

lexapro

It worked wonderfully but I was on and off it again. Upon my last start up it gave my weird side-effects so I stopped it. My doc got me on Wellbutrin 300mg and I really like it for depression but my anxiety is coming back, maybe more than before. The doc has suggested lexapro. Whats your take on lexapro? I'd really like something that does work.
I take 10 mg of lexapro and might get bumped up to 20, but so far it's doing well. I don't have any side effects that I can think of other than maybe my ability to orgasm is lower. But, sex drive itself is still ok.
I have been on lexapro several times over the last 4 years for 6 months to 2 years at a time. I am having problems with the sexual side effects and the weight gain. It's actually less of a "weight gain" than a shift in body composition. My pants are too tight and my shirts are more fitted but I haven't actually gained a pound. I am a competitive runner and haven't changed my exercise or eating habits over the last 2 years.
I am on that combination and it works great. I was taking lexapro 20 mg with Wellbutrin and was fine. How long have you been on lexapro? My doc started me out slow with a week of 5 mg then 10 mg and so on. I know jumping into 20 mg for me was exhausting. Best of luck.
The most common intial side effect of these kinds of meds is an increase in anxiety, it typically starts to improve around the two week mark. I always advise trying to stick it out the full 4-6 weeks to get past those initial side effects and really be able to properly assess if the medication will start working for you. Definitelty speak with your doc about your side effects.
I've never had any withdrawl effects from lexapro. I can feel the difference in my emotions when I don't take it for more than a week, but never had any actually "withdrawl" effects.
Dear Cosk, I've taken many of the major AD's - Prozac, Effexor, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, lexapro, Remeron, etc., over the years, and I've read widely on the topic of depression. In other words, I am not a doctor. Consult your prescribing physician, since he is likely to have the most clinical experience and to know your condition the best. He's going to have to recommend something else anyway, correct?
in my experience the wellbutrin works very well with little to no side effects. if after a few days that feeling dosent go away talk with your dr about lowering it a bit and then you and your dr can do some adjusting untill you find a good place with it. also, if youre a smoker it has an awesome side effect of helping you quit! good luck to you!
I am finally feeling better!!! Dr has me on 150mg Wellbutrin, lexapro. Very little side effects. Ive been reading posts for awhile here and mostly see all the bad stuff people experience. I've got to be hopeful that everything will work out. Mottos: It is was it is.........Let Go and Let God......... If you cant change something something.
Truthfully I would love to stop both and see if they are really making a difference, but neither can be stopped cold turkey without the possibility of severe side effects. So for now I will stick with the wellbutrin and the baclofen. I'm like Terry, there are other drugs that I can't tolerate but these don't seem to be in that category. be well, whether its with wellbutrin or something else!
I've tried Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac and as I've already said, lexapro. Wellbutrin has the least side effects. I switched back about a week ago and the withdrawl symptoms from lexapro are the pits. Wellbutrin may not work as well for you, Everyone is different. As you can see, it may take several attempts at medication before you are on the right one. Just be patient. Once you find the right one, you'll feel so much better. Hope this helps.
and if you cut back on smoking then you didn't really quit so what's the point in taking the wellbutrin? btw, i was on lexapro for about a year and a half and i quit cold turkey and felt nothing, well, maybe a little dizziness, but that's all. perhaps it is different for others, but the withdrawal from it was nothing compared to the wd hell from opiates.
Now I switched to Wellbutrin because of the sexual side effects of lexapro. My concern is that I have felt really dopy the last couple of weeks. Also, I would like to know if lexapro and Wellbutrin are in the same family and if not, what is the difference. I noticed by researching that Wellbutrin does not state that it helps with anxiety as does lexapro. Please help, I am really getting confused.
Do more online research about lexapro and side effects. I have no idea about Remeron. unhappyat22 has a good point, I wouldn't take more than 2mg at startup, if you decide to take it, that is. If you are not taking it for clinical depression, you have been prescribed the wrong med. Damn off-label law! I think lexapro is bad news.
I have been on lexapro for over a year now and I have been on other SSRIs for many years and I am finally going off the stuff, with my DR. blessing. I have had the sexual side effects to the point of complete disinterest (VERY uncharecteristic for me)and have gained 20 lbs!! My eating has not changed, I log what I eat and my activity level has gone up quite a bit in the last year. I am also starting to get some of the weird side effects now that I've been off for a week.
My parents rushed to my side and gave me wellbutrin on their own as they had some that my mom takes till i can see a doctor. I started the first day with 150 and then next day went to 300 mg as that is what she takes as well as my sister takes it as well and they both suggested that amount. It brought me out almost immediately and i feel so much better. I am still on the lexapro though and do not know if I should take both or get off the lexapro.
I was on Cymbalta for 5 years and it just stopped working. I like my Cymbalta and had very little side effects with it for many years but all of a sudden I started getting headaches and anxiety, sleeping all day and missing days at a time from work. They have switched me to Cypralex now and I am quite concerned it won't do as much for me. It has only been a few days so I cannot determine the effects quite yet, except that I have the shakes really bad.
I am taking 450 mg Wellbutrin with 40 mg. lexapro and 10 mg. Abilify and I don't seem to have any particular side effects from the combination. I also take Zonegran, an anti-seizure drug that is used to treat neuropathic pain. My doctor gave me Xanax to take as needed, knowing the mixture that I already had. There doesn't seem to be a problem with that, either.
Had sexual side effects and gained some weight but I am not positive is from the lexapro but I think may be. The Dr gave me Effexor which knocked me out for 3 days, slept 36 hours straight, then Celexa which I broke out in a rash all over my body from. He tried Wellbutrin but that did nothing. I didn't lose weight on it like some people do.
) She told me that the doctor told her that is normal with ALL depression medication. I've read and heard things about Wellbutrin that it shouldn't have sexual side effects. Is this true in all cases? Does a small percentage of the population experience sexual side effects with Wellbutrin? Is there something else she can try? The medication seems to be OK. We actually get along pretty well, but the no sex issue is weighing heavily on my happiness and self esteem.
I have had a considerable decrease in appetite, which is a good side effect to offset some of the weight gain, but I have been crying uncontrollably over anything and everything, I feel shaky and irritable. Basically I feel depressed with the physical side effects of anxiety.
I'd been on both Wellbutrin and lexapro for almost 8 years. I had a major depressive reaction when my daughter first left home in Wisconsin for college in New York. I took my meds as prescribed and felt that they'd helped me. I've now reached a point in my life where I feel very calm and peaceful with both my daughter and son being off doing what they're supposed to and living their own lives, though we remain a close family and see each other often.
My personal experience with lexapro is that I felt terrible up to 10 mg.. went down to 5mg, and felt slightly better but still some anxiety and side effects. Now I've been taking half a pill (2.5 mg) for 4 months and I feel the best I've ever felt in years of trying everything.. literally. (Ativan, Paxil , Zoloft, Wellbutrin.. etc.) Some drugs I couldn't tolerate in the first couple days, some I felt worse as I upped the dosage.
After two years of benzos, my physician suggested SSRI's, I tried Zoloft and had horrible side effects including retrograde ejacualatoin and delayed. Switched to Paxil and gained 20 pounds in 2 months, switched to Prozac and had headaches and libido issues, finally ended up on Celexa which seemed like my saviour. My moodiness went away, I was able to accept changes more readily, I wasn't aggravated or keyed up all the time.
(Weight gain, loss of sexual interest, and meds not working). I'm feeling like the side effects (and lack of effect) is just depressing me more. It makes me feel like there's no point in being on the med. Also, does anyone have any experience with/advice about the dexadrine? Thanks so much.
I started the Wellbutrin because the others I have tried (celexa, cymbalta, lexapro) weren't helping. Since I have begun, I have been so irritable and sad, and crying for sometimes no reason at all. I am not sure that this is making me feel better or worse. Have your symptoms gotten any better?
If you go to the lexapro website, you can read more about the drug and it's side effects. Some of these drugs can also take up to about 6 weeks to actually take effect. Hang in there, it should start to help. If you still are having terrible anxiety problems, talk to your dr. about Xanex. I did that for a few weeks and it really helped with that. I hope you start feeling better soon, and I hope that you have a good support system at home, these type of diseases can really run you down.
