Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro and urinary frequency

lexapro

Avatar f tn After a thorough medical screening you may benefit from referral to a physical therapist (PT) who specializes in treating women with urinary incontinence, urinary frequency, and other bowel & bladder problems. Urinary frequency with no associated underlying medical issue can frequently be treated with pelvic floor rehab to re-train the communication between the brain and the bladder.
Avatar f tn So I went to my psyc. doctor last month and he doesn't think that the Lexapro is causing me to urinate all the time...like 20 plus times a day. He acted like he didn't know and that I need to take to my family doctor. I haven't seen my family doctor yet about it. Do you think my pscy. doctor doesn't know what he's talking about? Shouldn't he have been able to recommend something for my frequent trips to the bathroom? Doctor, what do you think?
Avatar n tn Went to gyn and she tested my urine and said it was a uti. Sent it for a culture and this came back negative. She also removed the pessiary. About 3 years ago the Dr did a test to rule out cancer and said I had cystitis. The gynecologist found protein in my urine and I always have a small trace in it. Now I have no pain, I just have to urinate all the time. This is driving me nuts. Don't know what to do next. Anyone else going through this?
Avatar f tn I'm 67 years old. I've been having urinary frequency and I had a post void retention test done and it was 50ml. My urologist told me I'm not emptying my bladder completely but isn't she wrong. Is a 50ml a normal value?
Avatar n tn Then Im fne for a month and the frequency returns. Went to my gyn and she said my bladder has dropped(but not bad) and did a urethal stretch. My problem seems worse now. Don't think I am emptying fully as in the morning I have to go every 5 minutes. Im really at a loss as what to do. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn It is a primarily female syndrome in which women suffer from irritative bladder symptoms (urinary frequency, urgency, burning , and a hesitant or slowed urinary stream) in the absence of any objective urologic findings. In this the diagnosis can be made only by the proper collections of urine specimens from both the urethra and the bladder. These specimens will reveal the presence of white blood cells in the urethral washings, while the midstream (bladder) specimen will be free of cells.
Avatar f tn However, about a month and a half ago, I started having very severe urinary frequency and urgency. I had no pain or burning during urination. However, I tested positive for a urinary tract infection and began on pyridium and bactrim. My symptoms did not improve so I began on Levaquin for 10 days. Since then I have had an ultrasound of my kidneys, ovaries, and bladder, and everything was normal. My labwork was also normal.
Avatar f tn I did some research on the internet and discovered plenty of other Lexapro users were having the same urinary side effects. I just wanted to reinerate this for anyone reading this who may be suffering with the same thing as well. YES, it is the Lexapro......talk to your doctor and insist on getting some relief.
Avatar m tn 32 year old healthy male. Have had on and off urinary frequency for about 7 or 8 years now. Been to 3 different urologists, none wanted to get invasive bc no infection, DRE showed OK, no blood...basically no signs of anything wrong. But I made these appointments for a reason. The urge frequency was sometimes unbearable!! Anyhow started on Flomax, and in just one day noticed the frequency (6-8x day to 4x) and urgency diminished. If no BPH...how is the Flomax working??? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Hi, i'm a 19 year old male, and I started having feelings or urinary urgency and frequency in the month of july. The problem has been going on since, and has steadily worsened. (i've been to the ER twice.) It's a very strange story, because I'm yet to find out whats really wrong. I first was sent to a urologist, who gave me a CAT scan on my kidney and bladder. Nothing showed up.

Avatar f tn I have done urine cytology urine test pelvic ct scan sonogram and scope in my bladder. And nothing was found prostate is also fine. Honestly I cannot deal with the symptoms anymore and I have not gotten any sleep for over a month.
Avatar m tn ve been experiencing an increase in urination frequency...it actually started w/ anxiety and for awhile I just chalked it up to that. But then my anxiety sort of calmed down but my bladder didn't so I went to a uro-gyn first recommended by my regular gyn. I wasn't thrilled w/ the doctor in general but she said it was just anxiety and stress. I decided for a 2nd opinion at a urologist and she agreed stress was the biggest culprit but thinks I could also have an OAB.
649848 tn?1534633700 7 percent, who are 18 years of age or older have pelvic pain and other symptoms, such as urinary urgency or frequency, that are associated with IC/PBS.1 An estimated 1.6 million U.S. men, or 1.3 percent, who are 30 to 79 years old have persistent symptoms, such as pain with bladder filling or pain relieved by bladder emptying, that are associated with PBS.2 What causes IC/PBS?
Avatar f tn Sorry to read of your problems. I would think that the doctors would repair the bladder, uterus and rectal prolapse during the surgery. Prolapse of the urinary bladder, Cystocele, can cause urinary retention, frequent UTI's, urgency and frequency, and in some cases obstructive voiding resulting in reflux to the kidneys that may damage them. These issues can be evaluated with testing, Urodynamics / Cystometrics.
Avatar n tn I am having very frequent urinations with pelvic pain, bloating and traces of blood in my urine. Culture and Urinary tests were negative for bacteria and xray show no sign of kidney stones. What could be wrong?
Avatar f tn So I've been having issues with urinary frequency for a few years now and I wasn't able to go to a doctor often due to lack of insurance and the couple times I did their tests came up with nothing. I have insurance now so I've been going to the doctor every couple weeks, I've been diagnosed and treated for bacterial vaginosis, an e. coli infection and a yeast infection and I feel like a lot of the irritation has gone away but one symptom is really bothering me.
Avatar n tn You clearly have bladder symptoms, but frequency and urgency and a heaviness sensation could be a UTI, IC or overactive bladder. To make the diagnosis of IC you need a negative urine culture and urinalysis during symptoms, plus pain/pressure/discomfort (heaviness),urgency or frequency. You also need a pelvic exam by a gynecologist to rule out significant prolapse as the problem.
Avatar n tn There may also be burning sensation, cloudy urine, and increased frequency of urinating. This happens because of prolonged sex which causes irritation to the urethra, urethritis. This can be diagnosed by a simple urine test and antibiotics and analgesics are prescribed.
Avatar f tn I have had on and off recital pressure and urinary frequency. Do I have to worry about this being an STD? I do have a history of prostatits in the past. What are my next steps? Should I worry about Std/STI?
Avatar n tn I suggest that you have a repeat urinalysis done just to rule out any known infections and urinary tract stones. Increase in urinary frequency may suggest the presence of an infection. With regards to your anemia , what type of anemia is this?
Avatar f tn Finally when I got back to my city I got some tests done, urine test, blood test, and an ultrasound, from those tests they said everything looked normal and a urologist gave me a prescription for Oxybutinin, which with longer use has helped more with my urinary frequency, and told me to visit again in 7 days when my menstrual cycle was over.
Avatar m tn So, I started therapy 3-4 months back. The psychiatrist recommended cipralex(lexapro) 10mg for my anxiety. First 2-2.5 months went great. Although I’m not fully cured as yet but definitely felt an improvement. However, a week ago I’ve started feeling that my ejaculation takes longer than usual. In fact twice, I ended up not getting one at all. I feel turned on and all but ejaculation is taking a lot of time. I’ll add that I’m single and talking about masturbation here. Pretty frequent.
