Lexapro and trazodone

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro and trazodone

lexapro

Avatar n tn Call a pharmacist. Walgreens are usually open 24 hours. lol. I call them all the time with questions like that. I take an Lexapro with my klonopin. Klonopin is a benzo, and Lexapro is an antidepressant. What's trazodone? Is that another benzo? Are you taking 2 benzos at the same time? Call your Dr. and ask or call a pharmacist. Good luck to you.
563594 tn?1309583132 obviously its not for me... I'm not high strung naturally though, I really don't feel good when things make me tired..and then I can't even go to sleep? not helpful to me at all! I think I did ok on lexapro..worked better for my GAD...maybe I'll go back on see my GP after a few weeks..need to see how I'm feeling first. were you on any ad's after detox? thanks for commenting and ttys!
Avatar n tn I have been on buspirone and it does not seem to work. Doc wants me to stay on that and then take 1 Lexapro per day. Also a sleep aid. I think he will take me of Buspirone when the Lexapro reaches its working period. I asked and he informed me that this is not a lifetime thing and you can get off this stuff. Also he advises that lexapro is non-habit as is the sleep aid/anti depressent trazadone he gave me. I am new to this med also as Ambien CR did not do it.
Avatar n tn I have been taking lexapro and wellbutrin XL for a few years. I didn't seem to gain weight. About a year ago I was put on elavil to help with IBS. I have gained a lot of weight in the last year. I don't have a scale so I don't know how many pounds, but, I have gone from about a 33 waist pant size to a 36 inch elastic waist being too small. I understand that elavil can cause weight gain. Would the lexapro also be adding to this?
Avatar m tn I too take trazadone and find it works well for sleep too. I don't think it does much for my anxiety. You may want to give it 2 more weeks or so to allow it to reach full effectiveness. Otherwise you might want to discuss this further with your doctor. Perhaps adding a medication for anxiety or a different antidepressant to the mix may benefit you.
Avatar m tn I took Lexapro for a while a few years ago but now my insurance won't cover it. At the time, there were sexual side effects too. Now my insurance covers Celexa. I tried Celexa and it was definitely not a good thing, threw me hypomanic/manic. If I could, I would take the Lexapro again and just take the medicine for the side effects (which are covered by my insurance!). I don't remember any weight gain on Lexapro either.
Avatar m tn Starting lexapro 5mg,more anxious, sick stomach. How long to improve if it does?
Avatar f tn What medication do you currently take to regulate your bipolar disorder? Do you take a mood stabilizer in addition to your AD?
Avatar n tn Odd, but persistent over years before I tried trazodone, then lexapro. Trazodone still helps me sleep, PRN. I like it bec it's not addictive or anti-chlorinergic.
Avatar n tn I have been on a slew of psychiatric meds since last March including Ambien, Ambien CR, Effexor, Lexapro, Trazodone and now Zoloft and Clonazepam. Most SSRIs cause me to have insomnia which is why my psych prescribed Trazodone. However, I had a very bad experience two weeks ago where I even had to call 911 because I felt like I was having a heart attack. I know what a panic attack is and this was not anything like I had experienced before.
Avatar m tn I have never taken these two particular antidepressants together and there is nothing to indicate that they are contraindicated. Like all meds, we each react to them differently, so even if someone has been on the same two, their experience may be entirely different than yours. Both these meds have a number of possible side effects, but one they have in common is insomnia.
Avatar f tn This time, third treatment with triple therapy with Incivek (2011), he is only on Citalopram (because Lexapro is contraindicated with Incivek). The Trazedone was fine for him, and combined with the Lexapro it did the trick to get through therapy #2. You posted that they started you with 25 mg. today. Is that the Zoloft? That is a very small dose for the first 30 days. Usually the doctors will say start with 25 mg. and increase to 50 mg.
Avatar f tn But you should watch carefully, and monitor this with your therapist so you can figure out what are withdrawal symptoms, and what is anxiety. Re the lexapro...the schedule is to wean over a three week period. the first week with lowest possible dose daily that does not bring on side effects...then that dose every other day for ten days; then that same dose every third day for ten days, then stop.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Lexapro and need to switch to a different brand that is cheaper, such as trazodone. What do you suggest?
Avatar f tn HCV and HIV protease inhibitors interact with many medications, including some antidepressants. Desipramine, escitalopram, and trazodone are known to interact, and others, such as citalopram may potentially interact. These antidepressants may be used with protease inhibitors, but they need close monitoring. antidepressant side effects Antidepressant medications can cause side effects. Usually these are mild, do not interfere with activities, and often resolve over time.
Avatar n tn Hello,my name is monica and i have terrible anxiety. My dr.also put me on 10mg of lexapro and i take 1mg of lorazapam.I want to know how long it takes for the lexapro to work and does it seem to help with your anxiety?I also want to discontinue the lorazapam and only take one med.Well i would rather take nothing at all but,u know how that goes. And since that' is the only thing i take at the moment i'm probably gonna have to be weaned off to.So it takes a month to get out of your system?
10996785 tn?1432812977 Did you start taking the trazodone and the nortryptyline at the same time? Was just wondering how you know it's the nortryptyline causing these symptoms............ Since you began having these very uncomfortable side effects immediately, and they did not abate in a week or two, why didn't you let your doctor know? To suffer with, as you put it, "horrible feelings" for almost 7 months must be terrible!
1336711 tn?1275725436 I am on 1200mg of Lithium, 20mg of Lexapro,20mg of Abilify,30mg of Buspar,1000mg of Depakote and 200mg of Trazodone a day. I am soooooooo unbelievably lethargic and I have no energy or desire for anything. Not to mention my neck/shoulders are so stiff and painful accompanied by a headache. This is the most medication I have ever been on in the 17 years of diagnosis of BP with psychotic episodes and Major Clinical Depression. I feel like Im overdosed .
Avatar f tn Celexa came first, and when the patent ran out, they played with the structure, took some things out, and made Lexapro. Reportedly it has fewer side effects, but who knows if that's really true? I found Celexa easier to take myself, so it just goes to show. But the core of both drugs is the same. For me, the one drug that really put on the weight was Paxil. For others, it's different.
400067 tn?1201358094 ME TOO!!! Well, kind of....about 15 months ago I cold turkey quit Paxil after taking it for about 8 months. I was a MESS! I ended up going back to SSRI's and tried Zoloft, Lexapro and Buspar and then ended up on nothing but with 2 uneven pupils! Mine are more noticeable in low light but it is almost always there to some degree. It's not DRASTIC but certainly noticeable.
Avatar m tn thru research i cam to the conclusion that mine was dopamine...and aslo that i responded to tricyclics and did not to ssris like lexapro...
1383782 tn?1279392573 Lately I have been VERY depressed and it comes in waves, making it hard to do even simple tasks, wanting to cry uncontrollably for no reason. To be clear I am also on Lexapro, Abilify, Pravastatin, Trazodone, and Amlodopine. Nothing has really changed recently. So my question in all of that is this: can the pain killers cause the depression, and if so is there anything (short of getting off them) that I can do to lessen it or get rid of it?
Avatar n tn Taking into account all you've been through, I would suggest a Long-Acting benzodiazepine such as Clonazepam, or Diazepam (Klonopin, Valium) and a new generation of SSRI such as Lexapro, I've on it for a couple of months no and down extensive research on it and many ssri's as well. From what i'm found Lexapro is more effective and has less side effects than most of the commonly prescribed ssri's.
563594 tn?1309583132 ) I take 10mgs of Lexapro and 100mgs of Trazodone at night. Lexapro is more for generalized anxiety disorder and the Trazodone (an OLD AD) is for sleep. They seem to work okay, but I'm still panicking and fearful of just about everything. the klonopin does seem to be helping so far, maybe not a bad thing in the long run. I obviously do have some serious issues with panic/fear/anxiety. Hope you're having a good evening!
Avatar n tn I have recently been given an R. For Trazodone 50mg and waiting to know if anyone else is taking it.
Avatar n tn that's a really low dose of Ativan and Ativan generally takes quite awhile to take effect, possibly an hour or two. I've tried trazodone too and that doesn't do much either - it's an antidepressant with sedation as a side effect, so they figure it will work but a lot of times it doesn't. If the trazodone doesn't work don't bother with it.
2065212 tn?1334584906 t need the Klonopin but for tonight, just take the trazodone and ask the doctor about it in the morning. The trazodone will get you drowsy so I wouldn't take them together.
Avatar n tn I felt like I had an IV of speed hooked up to me and slept a total of 5 hours a night waking up and leaping out of bed....
380530 tn?1239162538 prescribed Trazodone for sleep. He prescribed 50 mgs. I started with a 1/4 of a tablet and every day built it up by another 1/4 tablet. I am now taking two 50 mg tablets. Its been about 10 days since I first started taking the Trazodone. It doesn't seem to be helping me sleep. I have very vivid dreams and am only able to sleep for 2 - 3 hrs. During the 2 - 3 hrs I don't feel like I am in a deep sleep because I am having wild dreams most of the time.
