HI ,do you know if taking Trazodone for mild depression and insomnia is not good for liver? I read a few reports about some bad reactions , and it causing propblems. But it has helped me before and I wanted to try it again. Or, can you recommend anything for insomnia and depression that is ok to take? Hep c dx 2/07, viral load - 3.6 million, bx = 0-1 damage. 53 yrs. old female. Not treating yet.
Starting lexapro 5mg,more anxious, sick stomach. How long to improve if it does?
I have been on buspirone and it does not seem to work. Doc wants me to stay on that and then take 1 Lexapro per day. Also a sleep aid. I think he will take me of Buspirone when the Lexapro reaches its working period. I asked and he informed me that this is not a lifetime thing and you can get off this stuff. Also he advises that lexapro is non-habit as is the sleep aid/anti depressent trazadone he gave me. I am new to this med also as Ambien CR did not do it.
But you should watch carefully, and monitor this with your therapist so you can figure out what are withdrawal symptoms, and what is anxiety. Re the lexapro...the schedule is to wean over a three week period. the first week with lowest possible dose daily that does not bring on side effects...then that dose every other day for ten days; then that same dose every third day for ten days, then stop.
If you DO decide to come off the Lexapro after giving it AMPLE and serious thought, then my advice to you is to be proactive. Not only are you obviously going to want to taper slowly under your doc's guidance, but you are going to want to have a plan in place in the event the anxiety returns. Stay in therapy, keep using you coping techniques you learned in therapy, etc. For most of us, fighting anxiety is a lifelong battle. There is no cure.
I've heard taking prozac before coming off Lexapro helps.I think I should add that I am 62 yrs. old and was taking Lexapro for social anixety and hot flashes. I want to get off because of the weird dreams and deep sleep I have and it doesn't seem to help with the hot flashes as much any more. Please advise me on what to do.
However, those are not medications that are controlled substances that are in any way likely to create recreational highs. Doctors and psychiatrists take note of that and will not prescribe certain classes of medications to people with a substance abuse history. As long as they are aware of his history with this issue they can monitor what he is prescribed and how he takes it. But those specific medications generally have very little if any potential for abuse.
Hi, I have been taking 10mg of Lexapro for a year and a half and recently decided to taper off due to fatigue and weight gain. I have mentioned cutting back to my doctor, but she seems adamant that I stay on the meds indefinitely. I do not agree with this because I am concerned about the long term effects, which are largely unknown. I am going to discontinue treatment with her due to changes in my insurance policy, so I decided to try to cut back on my own.
But I was a lot better 6 months later. And one year and a half I was very close to being back to normal. Prior to taking Lexapro, I couldn't walk into a supermarket without having an anxiety attack, I couldn't stop worrying and I stopped sleeping for two days. I said I'll be dead if I don't get help. I couldn't stop worrying about dying a a state of panic type situation.
I CANT FIGURE OUT WHY LEXAPRO CAUSES WEIGHT GAIN, BUT IT DOES I DONT CARE WHAT THE DOCS SAY ABOUT IT NOT CAUSING WEIGHT GAIN, THEY ARE LYING! I HAVE BEEN ON 20 MG. FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW AND HAVE GAINED 15 POUNDS, I WAS "MAINTAINING CHUBBY" BEFORE LEXAPRO AND NOW I'M JUST STRAIGHT UP FAT. I AM NOW ON 1O MG. AND I ACTUALLY FEEL BETTER, A FEW WITHDRWAL SYPMTOMS, NOT BAD THOUGH. I TRIED TAKING 10 MG.
I have been taking lexapro and wellbutrin XL for a few years. I didn't seem to gain weight. About a year ago I was put on elavil to help with IBS. I have gained a lot of weight in the last year. I don't have a scale so I don't know how many pounds, but, I have gone from about a 33 waist pant size to a 36 inch elastic waist being too small. I understand that elavil can cause weight gain. Would the lexapro also be adding to this?
Dosage is Lexapro 20mg/day, Abilify 10mg/day, and Klonopin 1mg/3xday. Oh, and Trazodone 150@bedtime. Wednesday, I'm going to be in a situation where I'll have zero access to my medications for 1 week. I've been curious how I'd do without my meds, but this situation is not how I wanted to find out. There's no shortage of good and bad stories about going on or off of these meds, but I'm wanting a more general idea of what to expect. I'm frankly scared of what may happen.
I took Lunesta and it helped me sleep. There have been others here on the forum that takes Lexapro and felt it really helped. What is your geno type and viral load?
Currently taking Trazodone (just started taking 50-75 mg per night. I started with 12.5 and 25 mg doses, which initially worked and allowed me to sleep 5-6 hours, but now I seem to require more). I take the Trazodone together with .5 mg Xanax, per my psychiatrist (note: he actually prescribed 50-100 mg Trazodone, and I'm trying to stay on the lower end of that, not exactly sure why - could be my fear of medications. Phobias, go figure!).
Risperdal - 4mg Lexapro - 5mg Lithium - 300mg Trazodone - 75mg Started the steps today with Chris. We are going to meet everyday if possible untill I get the steps done! I am excited.
I took Lexapro for a while a few years ago but now my insurance won't cover it. At the time, there were sexual side effects too. Now my insurance covers Celexa. I tried Celexa and it was definitely not a good thing, threw me hypomanic/manic. If I could, I would take the Lexapro again and just take the medicine for the side effects (which are covered by my insurance!). I don't remember any weight gain on Lexapro either.
It was fianlly my GYN who said you are having anixiety attacks began to treat it with hormones and lexapro, things got better every once in a while would have a attack but 1/2 a xanic and I would be fine. Then we come to now....... 7 weeks ago I fell and severly like three bones crushed, surgery paltes and screws and been in beed for 7 weeks bad....broke my ankle and sprank (severly the other)lots of pain med.... Had some bouts of anxitey rapid heart beat etc, but dealt with it okay....
This time, third treatment with triple therapy with Incivek (2011), he is only on Citalopram (because Lexapro is contraindicated with Incivek). The Trazedone was fine for him, and combined with the Lexapro it did the trick to get through therapy #2. You posted that they started you with 25 mg. today. Is that the Zoloft? That is a very small dose for the first 30 days. Usually the doctors will say start with 25 mg. and increase to 50 mg.
On my one month post NB recheck with the GP, I was taken off prozac and put on Lexapro (because of major weight loss and general shaky/week feeling) and she told me to take the lexapro in AM instead of PM. Also put me on trazadone 50 mg in PM along side of Xanax. After one month I asked to begin to wean off Xanax. got the ok. Very slowly began to wean. Once that was done, tried and succeeded to wean off trazadone. Once that was done, I tried to wean off Lexapro. By last year, Feb.
What medication do you currently take to regulate your bipolar disorder? Do you take a mood stabilizer in addition to your AD?
HCV and HIV protease inhibitors interact with many medications, including some antidepressants. Desipramine, escitalopram, and trazodone are known to interact, and others, such as citalopram may potentially interact. These antidepressants may be used with protease inhibitors, but they need close monitoring. antidepressant side effects Antidepressant medications can cause side effects. Usually these are mild, do not interfere with activities, and often resolve over time.
I take an Lexapro with my klonopin. Klonopin is a benzo, and Lexapro is an antidepressant. What's trazodone? Is that another benzo? Are you taking 2 benzos at the same time? Call your Dr. and ask or call a pharmacist. Good luck to you.
I switched awhile back to improve my sleep but the old one worked way better for me.. Now I am on Trazodone.. it just ok.. I liked Lexapro. think I am gonna go back after I get off these darn pills for good.. I have been anxious and depressed and stressed out lately.. I felt better on the old one..
I am currently on Lamictal 300mg (have been for some time), Lithium, Trazodone 100mg (have also been on it for some time), and a small amount of Lexapro. My muscles don't move like classical Tartive Dyskinesia. I don't have the urge or need to move them, nor do I have the need to constantly walk (except for the bipolar driven pacing). As per your suggestion, I've been looking into TD as well as dystonia.
Lately I have been VERY depressed and it comes in waves, making it hard to do even simple tasks, wanting to cry uncontrollably for no reason. To be clear I am also on Lexapro, Abilify, Pravastatin, Trazodone, and Amlodopine. Nothing has really changed recently. So my question in all of that is this: can the pain killers cause the depression, and if so is there anything (short of getting off them) that I can do to lessen it or get rid of it?
I have also been noticing insomnia (waking up after about 4 hours of sleep and staying awake for several hours nearly every night), fatigue (less emotional resilience to stressful conditions, decreased motivation and energy for work, some memory problems, mostly word-finding, and forgetfulness) for about 9 months. At the end of January, I was let go from a high stress position that required travel and am currently unemployed, between homes, jobs and city.
He, rediagnosed with clinical depression and insomnia, now takes 30mg Lexapro in am and 50mg Trazodone w/5mg Ambien at bedtime. He is doing wonderful.
My doctor would give me cocaine to stop me from whinning but we compromised on Ambien and Lexapro before bedtime. I went through 10 to 12 weeks of insomnia before we found the right combination. I take Tylenol Extra Strenth when the head gets to pounding to badly. It helps but nothing stops it. I'm headed for shot number 17 though and still working but not nearly as productive with this brainfog. Did your doctor get you started on anti depressants before treatment started.
5 x2 a day- works well, no bad side effects, I really want to use it long term, any advice or opinions appreciated lexapro 10- the last SSRI I have tried, I have tried them all and none have helped with anxiety.panic only in my opinion worsened my symptoms, this one will have to be tapered and I will not start that until I fully taper/replace the vyvanse if necessary Trazodone- 100 mg at night for sleep and doc said it may help with anxiety and depression (fine so far, less than a week on it.
