lexapro

Avatar f tn My mom was godzilla too! I started taking the antidepressant, lexapro, for an unrelated problem, and discovered all my PMS symptoms and menopausal craziness went away like it never existed. Something to keep in mind for future reference if you start having difficulties.
443862 tn?1237999439 As well the hyperthyroid has given me anxiety and panic attacks. As well they have confirmed that I am in pre-menopause by doing the LH and FSH blood test. I did get my period yesterday after 2 months without but it only lasted 2 days. So, my quesiton is, during the day I am just sitting there and I get very hot, my arms get tingly and my heart starts racing. Are these menopause symptoms? How long do they last - I mean how many months will this contninue?
Avatar f tn hi and thanks for comment im not anxious at upcoming menopause i could have explained that better basically i was unwell for quiet a few months with ailments fatigue constantly getting flu and generally not feeling myself before i was diagonsed with peri menopause but since then my symptoms have got worse and is literally taking control of my everyday life i dont want to take meds i would rather try and beat this without going down the road of believing a tablet will make everything ok.
Avatar f tn t get any better that I should see a psychiatrist. My question is could it be menopause? I hate feeling this way and after 3 weeks of the Lexapro I still feel the same.
Avatar f tn I did not eat for over a month, just drank ensure and lost 30 lbs. I went to the doc and was treated for Anxiety/Depression with Zoloft and recently have been put on YAZ. I have very bad night sweats (wake up damp), no hot flashes, hair loss, dry skin, anxiety which gets worse before period, dry hair, itchy skin, temp has been running at 97, headaches were bad until I started taking YAZ, allergies which I have never had, etc. Anyone thinking this sounds like peri-menopause?
1445110 tn?1388209711 Does anyone else suffer with Hypthyroidism and menopause. My symptoms are so bad that at times i actually feel like I am going absolutly crazy. Some days it is just hard to functions and I am like every other mother that needs to do just the normal everyday things in life such as cooking supper and housework that seems to be such a hard thing for me to do sometimes. Avatar n tn Because it may chance that you may hit the menopause. So try to consult your doctor as soon as possible. Take lots of vitamins in your diet and do regular exercise this all will help you out. Take care dear.
94902 tn?1330479667 I did start taking lecithin and it helped with the night sweats and eliminated the hot flashes also.
Avatar m tn You must know that one size does not fit all concerning drugs. Some people had a bad experience with Lexapro and went to Cymbalta and it was a life saver and the same is true for Cymbalta. Final word, I woud choice between Lexapro and Cymbalta and you must note that i'm not a doctor and you should talk about it with you doctor prior making a decision.
Avatar f tn I take 20 mg of Lexapro daily and on other medicine. About one year ago, I had a glucose test done at my annual pelvic exam visit, and my sugar was higher than usual but not diabetic. I'm wondering if I might be having diabetic symptoms and not even know it for sure or if it's just a side effect of me taking Lexapro.
Avatar f tn lexapro pooped out after many years. i am menopausal and having severe anxiety attacks. ativan for temp. since it's highly addictive. what is better celexa vs zoloft. am confused and scared on stopping ativan and lexapro then adding another med on top of it all. plus i gotta go back to work after the labor day weekend.
Avatar f tn m going through pre-menopause and I decide that I will cut back on the lexapro to see if I can get some more energy. After a couple of weeks, I wake up and I've been high-jacked again by the anxiety. I had cut the lexapro down to 5mg, so my doctor told me to go back on the 10 mg and gave me a prescription for clonazepam. I've been readying that some people say that lexapro causes anxiety. Is this true? And I've also started on lybrel for irregular bleeding.
Avatar f tn I have mitral valve prolapse, I am 50 years old, I still have a monthly menstal cycle, I am a school teacher who is on vacation and I take Lexapro. I am currently waking up every morning, from a sound sleep, with my heart racing, hot, nausea, and severe anxiety. If I move, it eases up and then in a few minutes I have another attack. If I try to take a nap during the day, the same thing happens again. By afternoon I start to feel better and by night I am back to normal.
Avatar n tn I am very stressed as I have a disabled 15 year old daughter who had major surgery in February and still recovering. Can stress do this and/or menopause. My menopause has been very bad as far as feelings of doom and gloom, anxiety and very depressed. I take Xanax lately daily for my anxiety and am on Lexapro. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with depression, social anxiety back in 2004, and anxiety years ago. I am a 47 year old woman that felt attractive up until this year. October 2009 I got unengaged and became a mess. It's been 1 year and I can't seem to move on with my life. I haven't been able to sleep at night. I am so lost, lonely, moody. I don't want to be around people. I look and feel a mess no matter what I do. My hair is dry, breaking, and thinning, headaches, I have no energy, no life.
Avatar f tn I had a similar peri-menopausal experience as you, but not quite as drastic on the anxiety end. Lexapro made a new woman out of me and I have no problem taking it forever if I have to. Apparently I was lucky that I responded to it immediately without the weeks-long wait most people experience with anti-depressants. I know I needed ADs since puberty and I kick myself for waiting until I was 40 to talk to my doctor.
Avatar m tn I have been on lexapro for about 1 month and a half, and it has really helped me!! This is the 1st and only med I have taken, and it has help me get my life back. I wouldn't trade it for anything!!! Good luck!!
Avatar f tn (My mother had inflammatory breast cancer four years ago - she is okay and there is no other breast cancer in our family history) I just learned about a new study regarding tamoxifen and antidpressants (how paxil and zoloft have an adverse affect on tamoxifen) I have been on both (first zoloft - then paxil) and think this may have contributing to my recurrence.
Avatar f tn to grow on my bowels and bladder so the doc took me off for a year and then put me back on for a while. I am now off again and I am on Lexapro to help with the mood swings. That seems to work great, no more real low moments but the last week I have noticed ( been off hrt now for 16 months ) that I am experiencing alot of vaginal dryness, cotton mouth, breast tenderness and the dreaded hot flashes. I do not know what to do. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I know people on it who are doing very well and I know people who have been on zoloft and switched to lexapro but had to go back to zoloft. I am also going through menopause. My started going to a new dr. and he said he would like me to go on lexapro and told me how to start to wean off of zoloft. The fears are have are, I'm scared lexapro causes high blood pressure, weight gain, and I'm scared its not going to work as well as the zoloft.
Avatar f tn I am 3 weeks post op on having my ovaries removed and in surgical menopause too. When was your surgery and what are you experiencing? I am 41 and hoping I did not make a bad choice to go through with the surgery. I feel all my symptoms have got to be related to menopause, but it still seems so foreign to me that my body can react so severely to a lack of estrogen. About 4 months ago I went off birth control and had a lot of the same symptoms I am having now.
2190999 tn?1504988891 I know Celexa, lexapro and Sertraline both gave me night sweats. They are all selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Effexor is an SNRI, serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. I think since they both inhibit serotonin, that most likely is the reason you're sweating. The effect for me didn't lessen with time, it was every night for as long as I took them.
717272 tn?1277590780 Started taking it again and they really dropped. Stopped it, went up. Started Lexapro and they dropped. Went to half dose and they went up. I mentioned interaction to the nurse long ago. Celexa & Lexapro are almost the same drug. Recently, I am so nuts about getting an opportunity to finish early that I went to full dose of lexapro and got the lowest platelet reading yet, 35,000. I told her when I gave blood that they should be up but that I had doubled Lexapro and predicted low.
1258539 tn?1293840202 I am not sure my doctor is treating me with the right diagnosis. I am 42 in post menopause taking bio identical hormones. I have depression and severe anxiety. I am taking lexapro 15 mg a day. Up to 4mg of Xanax on most days. I have NO appetite and I have been under a lot of stress too. My Thyroxine (T4) is at 8.5, T3 Uptake is 31, Free Thyroxine Index is 2.6 and my TSH is at 0.994. I have IBS and a Hiatal hyrneia.
689327 tn?1240229164 In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .
Avatar n tn No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.
Avatar m tn Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.
Avatar n tn Is lexapro and xanax the same? If not, what is the difference and does the lexapro make you feel the same as xanax do??
