lexapro

620048 tn?1358018235 Morning Meg, I just did a google search "hives lexapro" and there are thousands of hits about Lexapro causing hives, and even when withdrawl from this drug it commonly causes hives. So i'm actually thinking the taking Lexapro and your hives going away was possibly a coincidence and not related. Just for kicks and giggles i looked up "hives cymbalta" and that seems to cause hives as well, so now i'm wondering, if it was a drug reaction that caused your hives.
1348686 tn?1310654243 I am not sure if it is my anxiety or if it is a side effect to the medication. I have been on Lexapro for 3 weeks and now I seem really itchy. However I don't have a rash, hives, breathing problems or anything like that. Has anyone else had this problem with medication and if so does it go away? Could it be from the anxiety itself????
Avatar f tn I was going then for symptoms of Mild Depression/and Anxiety attacks that I was experiencing. I had been put on Lexapro and stayed on it for a year. About a year later, i came off of it, and was fine. However, i felt that my anxiety was coming back last October so i started the lexapro again. I have been under some stress for the past few years due to job loss, career changes and living situations, so my Primary Doctor advised me 2 years ago to find ways to less stress myself.
Avatar m tn I have been off a week and have hives and itching all over by body, shoulder and back ache nausea.
Avatar f tn I have had anxiety my entire life and just about two years ago I developed chronic hives. I never had allergies of any kind in the past and now by entire body explodes in hives, my lips swell. I have been to the ER a few times. Doctors cannot find a cause or cure. The only medication that works like a miracle for me is Doxepin so that is why I thought maybe this was related to anxiety or the fact that Doxepin is an H1 and H2 antagonist.
Avatar f tn Since then I have very bad intching and I think hives at night. What is this? Is this normal? My virus was undetectable after only 2 or 3 shots so I don't want to stop trmt yet? Anything to offer?
Avatar n tn t need the lexapro and would probably reverse the OSA and decrease my risks of heart disease and increased obesity. Do do know of any Doctors that treat patients in the Syracuse New York area with a low but within normal thyroid level?
Avatar n tn I was on Lexapro for depression/anxiety for a year and half without any side effects. I felt like it was losing it's effect, or it may have that I was experiencing more sadness since my mom was diagnosed with cancer. I tried weaning off of it (I had tried a couple of times before that) and ended up having frequent sad thoughts after the weaning process. My doctor gave me Cymbalta. I loved the way it made me feel (ignoring the 10 pounds I gained and the frequent night drenching/insomnia).
Avatar n tn My allergist has not prescibed cortisone because it is only a short term solution and the hives usually come back with a vengence. I am presently controlling my Hives with 10 mg of Zyrtec and then 50 mg of Benadryl, both taken at night. Here is a list of potenial hive aggravating foods and medications: beer, berries, chocolate, citrus, nuts, shellfish, tomatoes, wine. Medications: Aspirin, Non-steroidal/ antiinflammatory drugs (such as Alleve, Advil, etc), and codeine preparations.
Avatar n tn My palms and forearms are breaking out in VERY itchy hives. The hives that appear on my palm are actually under the skin and scratching does not allieviate the itching. Icing the spots and liquid antihystamines offer only temporary relief. Along with the hives, random fingers have been getting stiff and are difficult to bend. The pain goes away in one day, but the pain seems to jump to other fingers.
558632 tn?1303471125 I just read a book "Thyroid Balance" that mentions Hives as a sometime Symptom of Graves. I beleive there have also been members here that have suffered with hives also with Hyperthyroid.
Avatar f tn my cousin has been taking hydrocodone and has had severe hives for 7 weeks now. she has quit taking the hydrocodone 6-7 weeks ago but the hives are still coming (every single day) and in different places on her body. is this an allergic reaction to the hydrocodone? and can it take this long for the hives to go away?
Avatar n tn headache, constipation/diarrhea, upset stomach and stomach pain, muscle and joint pain and rash. These varies from one patient to another. It could be that the rash you experienced looked like hives. (Although stress can also lead to hives). You can relate your experience at this link to the manufacturers to better address it : http://www.lipitor.com/about-lipitor/side-effects.aspx Take care and regards.
689327 tn?1240229164 In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .
Avatar n tn No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.
Avatar m tn Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.
Avatar f tn Soon after this increase I started noticing hives. Hives cover my torso, thighs, buttocks, and they are large welts, extremely itchy. I thought it was the levothyroxine so I switched to synthroid. This change had no effect. I saw an allergist and did a scratch test with everything coming back negative. I stopped taking meds and subsequently my tsh shot back up to 22. Hives keep getting worse, especially waking up In the morning.
Avatar n tn Is lexapro and xanax the same? If not, what is the difference and does the lexapro make you feel the same as xanax do??
Avatar f tn Can anyone shed some light on thyroid disease and hives (Utricaria) I ask because I have had hives ever since I lost my thyroid to cancer in 2016 I had them as a young kid out grew them until 2016 and just recently I had a sever hives attack that sent me to the Emergency Room they were so bad that the back and top of my head swelled had them almost every where except face and I'm a pretty vanilla eater ..same old same old food wise and no new meds or vitamins.
Avatar m tn Once our pediatrician examined him she said the hives were from walking pneumonia. He is on the third day of antibiotics but hives are still appearing on his face. They go away within the hour without any treatment. Has anyone heard of this? Shouldn't the antibiotics be helping if the hives are because of the pneumonia or are the hives from something else?
Avatar n tn Hi All, I am a 30 year old male suffering from obssessive thoughts, I had a stomach ulcers 6 years back and i use Rabeprazole 20 mg daily as a maintenance therapy, My GP suggested escitalopram (Lexapro 10mg) daily, after 2 weeks using the medicine i feel much better and my thoughts have come down, however 2 weeks into the medication i started having severe stomach burning sensation especially in the upper stomach behind the breast bone and the center of the rib cage, i recognise its the same fee
Avatar n tn Yes. Twelve years ago, when I began this journey, that's what led to my diagnosis. I had hives on top of my hives. I don't know the mechanism of how hep C causes these hives but assume it is some sort of autoimmune thing. Steroids eventually made me better. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Once the allergy is removed, you should see great improvement and backing down of those hives and itching. Since you were no long on the doc should have been able to identity the amount of time for this to leave your system. Having become allergic to any med is very important where your future is concerned. Secondary reactions can oftentimes be much worse than the initial.
610453 tn?1259104722 Your problems are almost identical to mine. I had severe hives 12 years ago that lasted for 1 year and then disappeared entirely. They returned 8 months ago and this time I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. I also have several large thyoid nodules that are to be removed in a few weeks. I have researched this and seen many specialists, and unfortunately I have been told by my ENT surgeon and endocrinologist that there is no guarantee that the surgery will cure the hives.
Avatar m tn For years, I've had itchy skin, and sometimes with hives. I also have MS. Is this related?
Avatar n tn Have the dentist wear non-latex gloves and avoid latex and see if you still get hives. And did you know that wiping any areas in contact with latex on your skin will deactivate the latex? Rinse with a mouthwash containing alcohol. Some metals will also produce hives. There are type I and type iv reactions, and in the past few years they have discovered that there can be delayed reactions to the protein in latex, not just to the chemical accelerants.
Avatar f tn , which was supposedly related to having taken diclofenac (I’m allergic to all pain killers). I had hives and urticaria in my body and swelling of my lips and throat also. I was even hospitalized two days so they could get the swelling down with steroids.
Avatar f tn ) After starting the antibiotic my cough cleared up very fast! However, the hives lingered, but got slightly better each night. The hives faded and by the 7th night they were gone. I had a few nights of no hives and I thought everything had resolved itself. But, last night I got another pretty bad episode of hives (rash all over legs and arms, some stomach that looks like a sunburn and was extremely itchy-woke me up.) I took benedryl and used an ice pack and it went away.
Avatar f tn I havent had any of my normal premenstrual cramps and i havent changed anything in my daily routine that could cause hives. This is my first outbreak of hives and it is primarily on my buttocks, thighs, and arms. Anyone have hives before they got a BFP.
