Lexapro and heat

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro and heat

lexapro

Hi everyone! I was recently prescribed Lexapro and Lamictal. I was just wondering if there was anyone who has taken Lexapro could you tell me how long it takes to take effect? Also, does anyone know the major side effects of either of these medications? Is there weight gain?
I was on Lexapro and was changed to Cymbalta. I did not realize the weight gain came along wtih Lex. I have gained so much weight since Jan. Maybe it will slack off if it was the Lex.
I am experiencing withdrawal symptoms that can only be described as a weird sort of panic attack along with lightning bolts going off in my head, numbness and heat/cold in my arms and legs and my mind is racing. So far my B/P has remained low which is normal with these meds pulse is around 90 to 100 not great but around normal for me. What I am worried about is whether or not these withdrawal symptoms will put too much stress on my heart.
I am experiencing stomach problems (especially in my morning), heartburn, indigestion, and a strange (heat) sensation in my chest area. Is this normal? What can I do to help? How long will this last? I am so tired of this.
I think it started from me getting too hot and possibly slight dehydration. The day after I experienced the heat exhaustion, I started having adrenline surges every morning. I have been on Lexapro for 3 years. My doctor told me that Lexapro may not be working for me. I am trying to wean off of Lexapro. Is it a normal withdrawal symptom for me to wake up every morning with a very nervous stomach? I do not feel good until after lunch.
I am glad to heat that. I have heard wonders about this anti anxiety med. I do know that one side effect can be weight gain. I guess we all will respond differently.
A couple of months ago I was feeling very stressed and anxious, so I decided to start taking lexapro again. (I had been on lexapro and ativan for a couple of months a year ago, and had now been medicine free for several months). I took 10mg before I went to bed and woke up at 3am with heart palpitations, muscle weakness, nasuea, and a severe heat flush. I went to the ER and they said it was a panic attack and gave me xanax to take .5 3x daily.
At times, the pain is bad enough that I experience numbness throughout my arm and fingers. They have prescribed several things to try and fix the symptoms, but nothing has helped. At different times I have been on Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro, Amitriptyline and Xanax - along with Quasense (hoping this would regulate my hormones and temperature issues). I have even tried herbal supplements, with no luck. For the sweating I have tried Drysol and CertainDri...again, no help.
I didn't want to be home, especially alone. And needed to be around people or driving. I did evetually get put on lexapro 10 mg and clonazepam. Also around this time I started having heat flashed. I am now 52. I also went and talked to someone about the fears I was feeling. When I feel good, I can't imagine wishing I was dead rather than feeling what I was feeling.
Hi Richie, did you ever read tha side effects for both of these drugs, Lexapro, says it will decreased your sex drive, and Pristiq will decreased sex drive, impotence, or difficulty having an orgasm. Not very nice drugs for men to take, the only thing I can think of just weught to see if it things get better, or your system needs a wake up.
I feel like I just need some validation on the experiences I've been having weaning off of Lexapro. A brief history, I'm 27 years old and I've been on an SSRI for 8 years now (Zoloft 6 years then switched to Lexapro 2 years), I take 0.5mg Xanax 1-2 times a day. I also take meds for HBP, GERD, and allergies. I had been doing a lot of research in the past year or so since 2 years ago it was found I have a slew of food and other allergies that I didn't have in years prior.
Sudden withdrawal may result in headache, nausea, pins and needles, dizziness and anxiety. When it is time to stop taking this medicine it should be discontinued gradually, following the instructions given by your doctor." I urge you to see your prescriber as soon as possible and get some help. I wish you the best.
I do sometimes experience intermittent insomnia, but not at a level which would totally wipe away the slumber. In addition, there are also some heat spells at times and headache, but these are tolerable effects. To prevent this same nuisance from occuring against tonight, I am searching for some type of temporary sleep aid or pill that would just relax me and put me to sleep just to get the sleep cycle balanced again.

I have no appetite at all. The doctor put me on Lexapro for depression and anxiety which seems to make all my other symptoms worse. Although the doctor tells me my thyroid test are fine I feel hyper and hypo at the same time. I dont know if i am making any sense at all but would love to hear for anyone if you have any of these problems like me. I really dont know what else to do. This all seemed to start about 6 months ago altthough i have suffered with thyroid problems for years.
I am on symbicort, singular, allegra-D, nasonex and anxiety medication (lexapro) and xanax as needed. ove the past 2 months the tightness and soreness in my upper back and neck has also increased. I am wondering if this is all related with the increases asthma and increased medication. what can I do to get things back under control? I am also wondering why the asthma worsened again this past october.
When I go from lying in bed and sit up and stand I get extremely dizzy and off balance and feel like I could pass out and my legs feel like stiff or weak. I have to hold on to a wall or anything in reach to walk. Other times when I keep myself busy though these symptoms don't seem to be as bad. I was tested for orthostatic hypotension and didn't have that or POTs even though my heart rate could be 75 laying down and then jump up to 90-100 when standing and my heart starts pounding pretty hard.
Of course I told him that was SECONDARY but he told me I needed to compromise with him and try the Lexapro for a month or two and see if it makes any difference, if not, he would try something else and do other testing (CARDIO/PULMONARY STRESS and another ECHO) because I also have been having chest tightness, been SOB and just generally feel weak and odd on the left side of my body since this all started. I don't know what MRUI's are. SSRI would be Lexapro, correct?
Have you tried going back to basics and doing heat and massage and accupuncture? All those medicines every day will be hell on yor internal organs and might do more harm then good. For example, with all those opiates every day your colon will become sluggish and youwill have digestive problems and your colon might actuual stop (this happened to me a year ago) and getting it gong again is the least-fun thing I had to go through, and it put my chronic daily headaches into perspective.
I would recommend that you accept the assessment that there is a significant amount of anxiety happening (whether it is the result of other problems or the cause of some doesn't really matter at this point.) Start the Lexapro and read some stuff on relieving anxiety (breathing excercises, guided imagery, prayer, mediatation) and institute these.
I also been getting weird heat sensations and feel weak and I am always hot.So I went to a third doctor and she ran other tests as well (normal) and put me on Zoloft also dx me w/ MVP.I been on it for 13 days now and it seems to help me with my anxiety but I still have unanswered questions w/the pain in my rib. 1. Does this sound like gallbladder? It doesnt seem to change when I eat anything.I feel it more when I bend or put a strain on it. 2. Does GB problems cause any other symptoms I have?
Then I started Lexapro, and its been alot better!! I also have Xanax that I take in an emergency, but I don't even need it anymore!! Good luck!!!
She may can give you some good advice as far as nutrition and things he could do or take for his arthritis. It is free and she is a really helpful lady. She has helped many people. It is worth a try. They give wonderful advice here from a medical standpoint so maybe you can go to curezone and get some nutritional advice. My prayers are with you and your son. I hope all works out.
O Migraines rx....amitriptyline, nortriptyline, lexapro, paxil....all of these made me entirely too groggy and so fatigued....probably because now I know that they all have the potential to lower your BP which is probably why I felt so bad on them. Never been on anything longer than a week as the side effects become unbearable. Topamax and Zonegran....same results as above. The university here recommends migraine prevention to be magnesium and B2 (Riboflavin) ....
At this point I am going to choose to feel confident that there is nothing seriously wrong with my heart (or head for that matter as they did an MRI of that as well) and look towards Lexapro for relief from my symptoms. Bob, my advice is be proactive and...trust your doctors. Best of health to you.
This time I gave myself over to the process, I stayed for 30 days, I gained 20+ lbs, I started a new anti-depressant (lexapro) and agreed to get the 30-day suspended-release naltrexone shot, Vivitrol... even though my brain came up with a million paper-thin reasons why I shouldn't, the real reason being that it shut the last back door that I was hoping to keep open, so I could sneak through if I ever had to jump ship.
I noticed rather quickly that I was happier. Even when I wasn't high. 3. I'm on Depakote and Xanax and Lexapro. I have been for years. 4. My therapist has no problem with me smoking pot. 5. I am a successful business man who makes over $300,000 a year. 6. I read Eckhart Tolle (I would suggest you do the same :) ) 7. I am in the best mental state of my life. I am happy. Could I have done this without pot? I don't know.

Sunday am I went faint and felt heat running up my chest and my neck and my hubby had to call 911 and they brought me to the hospt. Doc's think it was a BAD reaction to the cytomel but not sure. I had jus started cytomel and lexapro for depression. They decided to just let me work on getting hypo and get ready for the RAI. See endo in 2 weeks to check levels and as soon as we can will schedule RAI. Still not sure what caused reaction.
I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
