lexapro and heat

So I started taking Lexapro for anxiety and depression and it has really helped. However, before starting it I had symptoms of heat intolerance and now the heat intolerance is getting worse. I have to wear tank tops or I'll sweat through the tshirt. Even wearing a tank top like today and yesterday, I had dripping sweat from my armpits. I have to blast on the air conditioning and I am more heat intolerant than I have ever been.

Hi everyone! I was recently prescribed Lexapro and Lamictal. I was just wondering if there was anyone who has taken Lexapro could you tell me how long it takes to take effect? Also, does anyone know the major side effects of either of these medications? Is there weight gain?

SO, no need to worry. JUst take enough fluids, fruits, especially oranges. And a multivitamin plus the balanced diet. They helped for a little while, but lexapro made me extremely tired. I came down on both lexapro and wellbutrin about a month and a half ago and have been on prozac for the past week. For the past month i have been having horrible headaches on the left side of my head. For about the past two weeks or so i have had some pain on the right side as well. With these headaches i have a lot of naseau, no vomitting though. I have been gagging for the past 4 months. Its pretty weird.

Hi Wotverge, I saw my psychiatrist today, and I was on Lexapro and my psych doc was surprised that Lexapro didn't work. I was hoping it did but it didn't...my temper was and still out of control, she was going to put me on Remeron but didn't. For some reason she keeps pushing Abilify, i said no because i am afraid of the side effects (TD). I also mentioned I wanted off the Klonopin because it doesn't work for me as i still suffer from anxiety.

This is my opinion but I'm no Doctor so... I wouldn't think it was a pseudo attack (heat intolerance)(MS) because once you slowed down your pedaling you felt better. You even said that you didn't get that hot and from what I've heard about heat intolerance and felt, you have to cool down to feel better. Were you able to work out on the weight machine with no problem, just the bike?

In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .

No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.

Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.

Is lexapro and xanax the same? If not, what is the difference and does the lexapro make you feel the same as xanax do??

Hi All, I am a 30 year old male suffering from obssessive thoughts, I had a stomach ulcers 6 years back and i use Rabeprazole 20 mg daily as a maintenance therapy, My GP suggested escitalopram (Lexapro 10mg) daily, after 2 weeks using the medicine i feel much better and my thoughts have come down, however 2 weeks into the medication i started having severe stomach burning sensation especially in the upper stomach behind the breast bone and the center of the rib cage, i recognise its the same fee

It didn't seem to increase my appetite. I'm status quo in that respect. I have no change in my diet, although I could eat healthier. It's like I just bloated up. Some weeks I'd gain 4 pounds. Then sit stable for a bit, then gain another 2-4 pounds in a week. Last weekend my DD had a soccer tournament. I sat out in the heat and sweated like a pig for a few hours. Hi all As part of my treatment for trying to uncover why I have tachycardia, I had to see a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me Xanax (extended release - once daily) and Lexapro b/c he believes i suffer from generalized anxiety and possible depression. Does anyone on this board (with heart rhythm issues) have success stories from these drugs that you could share with me?

I was taking lexapro and felt it was doing fairly well. Recently I had surgery and this doctor changed the lexapro to a paxil and buspar. At first I felt fine but now three weeks of the new meds and I am tired all of the time and very down. I have a medical condition that I have to take several meds for ex: fentora, oxyliquid, fentanel patch. perscribed through a pain management doctor. There is not much follow up with the new medicine and I wonder if all of this is good.

The Lexapro is an SSRI antidepressant that will take some time to become effective (typically 4-6 weeks, sometimes up to 8 weeks, especially when starting on a low dose as you are). The Xanax is a benzodiazepine, anti-anxiety medication that is being Rx'ed to treat the symptoms of anxiety while you're adjusting to the Lexapro, and waiting for it to become effective in reducing your anxiety.

if your main symptom is palpitations, then a beta blocker might be more appropriate than Lexapro. But if you had a lot of problems and most have gone away, then stick with the Lexapro -- drugs don't cure, they just mitigate the symptoms. You'll always have symptoms unless you find a cure through some kind of therapy work.

Started Lexapro today and I am quite "jittery" and shaky. does anyone know if I can take a small benzo to help calm me down until the Lexapro takes effect?

I am now on Bupropreon (sorry for the spelling) which is the opposite of Lexapro and it works better for me as it treats my ADD and my mood swings.

Has anyone ever taken Lexapro and Abilify together? I've been on 10mg Lexapro (for chronic dysthymia) for about 2 years now. I've always had positive reactions to Lexapro: great sex drive, great mood, slept okay (I do take Lunesta for sleep). my sister has been on 20mg per day lexapro and stopped cold turkey. why she has been put on such a huge dose - apparently lower doses didnt work and she has been on 240 mg for five years now. who does one go and see about this sort of thing because i fear psychosis for her. she no longer feels safe in her house and has also developed agrophobia. her GP doesnt seem to do much other than prescribe further drugs. should she see a psychologist ? or psychiatrist? yours in confusion.
