Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro and exercise

lexapro

Avatar n tn How long have you been taking the Buspar and Lexapro? I take lexapro. One of the best things for anxiety is to exercise. Walking has really helped me. Walking with someone is even better so you can have a good old chat.
Avatar f tn Hi I have been on lexapro for 5 years. Last week I had aserotonin syndrom reaction to robitussin. I am now very panicky and scared of anything that raises my levels. I'm wondering if it's possible to get serotonin syndrom from sex and exercise while taking lexapro. I know it's silly but like I said I'm trying to be super cautious because it was a very scary experience.
Avatar m tn Lexapro reduces the likelihood of relapse, helping individuals maintain long-term emotional stability. Minimal Side Effects: Compared to some other antidepressants, Lexapro is associated with relatively fewer side effects. Customized Dosing: Healthcare providers can adjust the dosage to meet the specific needs of each patient. Easy to Use: Lexapro is typically taken as a simple daily pill, making it convenient for users.
Avatar f tn People taking SSRIs like Lexapro can complain about weight gain; and there are many that complain about weight loss. Remember, that anxiety can often lead to depression which in itself can cause weight gain for a viarity of reasons. I actually lost weight while taking an SSRI, but I think it had to do a lot more with a normal exercise routine and watching what I ate.
616534 tn?1233236497 I have a different opinion of Lexapro. I gained 35 pounds in 3 months. If you look around the internet, you will find numerous accounts of the same scenario. My mom was always a rail and now she's huge . . . she's taking Lexapro. Doctors will tell you to exercise and watch your calorie intake. My mom eats like a bird. I've seen her eat. Lexapro and meds like it lower your metabolism so low that you can eat nothing and still not lose weight.
Avatar m tn I quit Celexa because it was making me foggy headed and school is my number one priority. I have read some horrifying posts about Lexapro damaging memory (some of which people say is permanent) and considering taking half a dose a few days and either continuing that permanently or quitting. I cannot afford to lose any memory space at this point in my life. I'd rather be anxious than dumb -_- .
Avatar f tn I have gained about 30 lbs without real cause, and I cannot lose the weight despite good old eating healthfully and exercise. I mean walking 4 miles per day. Recent CBC showed no thyroid issues, sugar is ok, etc. What could it be? Doc thinks Lexapro made me gain, could it also be the reason I can't lose?? Thank you!
Avatar n tn After reading these posts and I am starting to put two and two together and they are definitely looking like they are adding up to weight gain from Lexapro. I started on Lexapro in early July. I weighed in at about 178 at that time - 5'9 and worked out almost every day. While I was experiencing the start up side effects from Lexapro (about 4 weeks) I didnt work out but didnt gain any weight during that time. Anyway long story short - in the last month to 6 weeks I have put on about 12 lbs.
Avatar n tn I am on 20mg of Lexapro and 30mg of Remeron. Was on 10mg Lexapro and 45mg Remeron, but the weight gain is very real so I am attempting to get off the Remeron. When I asked what I could add to the Lexapro (since I have treatment resistant depression) I was told Seroquil might be a good addition. Sometimes I'm not sure if my doctor really knows what he's talking about. I don't want to gain weight on Seroquil after finally getting off Remeron.
Avatar n tn s a day, during exercise, and after. The doctor says I am fine to exercise and I am not in any serious trouble.
Avatar m tn that prescribed the Lexapro in the first place, because she insisted that I just needed to diet and exercise and I would feel much better. Obviously, she never took this stuff herself. Anyway I found an addiction counselor (Psch.) to help me. I was taking 10mg every day, so the first step was taknig 5mg every other day. For about 2 weeks. Then 5mg everyday. Another 2 weeks. Then 5 every other day for 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn For the past few months I've been experiencing aches and heaviness in my legs. These usually happens in the evening or while I'm sleeping. But I once move around it goes away. I've had RLS for the past 8-10 years and I don't take anything for it. Please help.
Avatar n tn Now that I have stopped I have lost my appetite and I wonder if I will see a change as although my diet exercise and lifestyle did not change over the 12 months I feel as though this medication is the only contributing factor?
535882 tn?1396576685 My husband says I was like a zombie! I have been trying warm teas and herbal meds also exercise and writting. Good luck!
Avatar m tn My big question is when are the doctors going to stop telling everyone that they do not gain weight on antidepressants, I have been on lexapro now for 2 yrs, and have gained 25 lbs, I watch what I eat exercise, dance, etc... and the weight will NOT come off. My doctor tells me well you are are at the age of premenopause and at that age, that you are going to gain weight, well I am getting tired of hearing it.
Avatar f tn I just recently started taking lexapro 10mg for my anxiety attacks, For some reason i cannot sleep at all! I go to bed early because i am so tired and toss and turn all night until 7 8 in the morning. Any one else have the same problems? I even tried taking xanax once and it did nothing.
Avatar f tn side effect of Lexapro (and all SSRIs) is atrial fibrillation and arrhythmias. That is what has me scared. Even though it is RARE I am still afraid I will be that one person that has it!
775203 tn?1237632918 I am on 100mg of Epilim (Vapro) and 1/4 of a 10mg of Lexapro. I took abit more Epimlim yesterday and it really helped. I think maybe I am the type that need to carry abit of the uppers (lexapro) when I am down and abit of downers (Epilim) when I am up. I know I am not suppose to vary these meds but at least it seems to help and my body reacts to this stuff pretty quickly (like within the hour!). Thanks both for your suggestions. I am scared of my pdoc though!

Avatar m tn Lowering your heart rate requires increased vagal toning and you get that through regular exercise. Yoga and meditation main help with anxiety. Regular exercise should also help with relieving stress.
Avatar f tn i was wondering if it was alright that i take nadolol and lexapro... or take effexor and nadolol... i have migraines and i think im depressed because of them... so is that ok to take a combination of either of the two..
396099 tn?1216254986 My best friend was on Effexor...and it was terrible..he switched to Lexapro and it was and is great for him, too. Now, having said all that...I'm not sure starting an SSRI and going through withdrawal at the same time is a good thing...never done it that way, and probably wouldn't want to. But, if you think it's time for the Lexapro...the sooner you start, the better. They wean you onto it the first week up to 10mg.
Avatar n tn Heather, I know you are right but the fact is, I lost 35 lbs 12 years ago and diet and exercise already to keep it off. It's a struggle as it is. I gained 10 lbs on Lexapro and haven't been able to lose any. I really would have to spend a couple hours a day exercising and really limit my lifestyle to diet and exercise more to keep from gaining weight if I have a medicine going against me (in addition to temptations already).
397118 tn?1219762250 That is what I really want to be, so I got my lexapro change to wellbrutrin and that was not good for me I had a really bad day yesterday. Today I didn't take anything but my sub and that is how I'm going to keep it for a while I'm just so sick of been tired and drowgy all the time and the trileptal was making me feel that way also the lexapro so I stopped those two as of Friday. I wanted to know what do you think about the amino acid?
