I get depressed once in awhile and yes I am pretty stressed working 60 hours a week and the lexapro has certainly helped with that..and I YAWN!! all the time! LOL! I am tired as well but am waiting to see if that passes..it's only been a few days and I am so hoping it works on migraines....thank you again.

Do you suffer from anxiety or depression? If not, there's no reason to take those drugs -- lifestyle changes and therapy will make just as much difference in your life and won't harm you. Taking aspirin and Lexapro might make you more prone to bleeding and bruising -- that's a side effect of ssris. Klonopin is addictive. Both Lexapro and klonopin are very hard to stop taking.

Lexapro has certainly worked for my anxiety & depression. Problem is I CAN'T POOP! I've called the doctor twice about this and was told "constipation is not a side effect of Lexapro." I informed him this started about 3 weeks ago when I began taking Lexapro but he held firm in his statement. The first time he told me this only made my anxiety worse as I was scared something else was wrong with me.

called Miralax, it makes you very regular without the rebound constipation and abdominal cramping like stimulant laxatives. It works wonders and is a common use for women with eating disorders on a refeeding program. Its now over the counter so I'm pretty sure you can get it without a perscription. But if you can't find it ask your general practitioner to prescribe it for you, and tell them about all the side effects you have been having.

Yes, ssris can cause constipation. Also diarrhea. Fun, eh? As for increasing the dosage, you can go up by 5mg at a time, but if you do go to 20mg, buy the 20mg and take it once a day. Lexapro is expensive since it's still on patent, and that's cheaper than taking two 10mg tabs and does the same thing. I can tell you my psychiatrist raised me 5mg at a time.

I normally have gas and I belch often but I've never been diagnosed with any digestive problems. I have generalized anxiety and I take Lexapro daily. For about a week I've had a weird feeling in my lower ribs and stomach muscles. It's almost like a fluttering or spasm. I can't tell if it's gas or muscular. It's not painful just uncomfortable and it's making me more anxious. I've taken gas relief tabs and advil but they don't help.

I have bad constipation and for it I have to take amitiza, ducolax, and milk of magnesia. What does are you currently on for milk of magnesia? I have been on Lexapro for about 6 weeks 5 mg. Have yellow foamy diahrea.

I also suffer from severe constipation, and I do not want anything to effect that including weight gain. My physician and GI doctor said it was safe to take. I do not want to take these, but I will admit that I have not felt like myslef in months, and I would love to feel normal again. s been going on with me for the past 5 weeks on Lexapro, basically that im still anxious and depressed and feel like a zombie. My 6 week follow up is on tuesday but decided to call him today and he told me to go down to 5mg. To be honest i'm somewhat doscouraged after talking to him. I feel that i need to up my dosage rather than lower it. I feel that by lowering it, it will give me more anxiety and send me in deeper depression. Any thoughts?

I was on Lexapro for awhile along with Bruproprion and I think the Lexapro did cause weight gain for me, since going off Lex I've lost a few lbs..

I have noticed that I feel lightheaded and shakey almost 2 or less hours after every meal. It feels like hypoglycemia. I am taking .025 mgs of Synthroid because my blood work indicates I have a hypothyroid. I fell in love and fell hard for someone. The relationship was a toxic one and we both knew it. Yet, we couldn't end it and just kept dragging it further on. My heart aches still. I took Lexapro (10mg) every night for almost 3 years... Tried to stop, had horrible withdrawals symptoms and went back to it. Now, I'm off again, not my choice! In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .

No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.

Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.

Hi All, I am a 30 year old male suffering from obssessive thoughts, I had a stomach ulcers 6 years back and i use Rabeprazole 20 mg daily as a maintenance therapy, My GP suggested escitalopram (Lexapro 10mg) daily, after 2 weeks using the medicine i feel much better and my thoughts have come down, however 2 weeks into the medication i started having severe stomach burning sensation especially in the upper stomach behind the breast bone and the center of the rib cage, i recognise its the same fee

Hi all As part of my treatment for trying to uncover why I have tachycardia, I had to see a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me Xanax (extended release - once daily) and Lexapro b/c he believes i suffer from generalized anxiety and possible depression. I was taking lexapro and felt it was doing fairly well. Recently I had surgery and this doctor changed the lexapro to a paxil and buspar. At first I felt fine but now three weeks of the new meds and I am tired all of the time and very down. I have a medical condition that I have to take several meds for ex: fentora, oxyliquid, fentanel patch. perscribed through a pain management doctor. There is not much follow up with the new medicine and I wonder if all of this is good.
