lexapro and breastfeeding

Hi there, I'm a 33yo female and only started having PVC's at 15w pregnant. They continued throughout pregnancy and when I had the holter monitor it showed anywhere between 6 and 2000 PVC's in one day (I had about 3 or 4 monitors in pregnancy). When I delivered my baby it seemed to get a bit better - I would still get them most days but would only feel a few.

I take Lexapro for depression and anxiety. It has really helped me tremendously. I am also diabetic and take Janumet. I would like to become pregnant soon and was wondering if anyone had experience with Lexapro while pregnant/breastfeeding. Do you know if it's approved or known safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding?

it worked far better than lexapro which is what I started on and my son is now about to turn 2 and there were no side effects for me or him.

ve been on Lexapro for 5 years, stoped for 3- pregnancy and breastfeeding, and I was fine- then anxiety came back full force, went back to meds for over 2 yeara now, and now I stoped it again... Not my choice... I've been suffering horrors without it... But I never had problems while taking Lexapro. Is it possible that the meds are no longer agreeing with you and your anxiety is back and symptoms too?!? The best thing is to make an appointment with your doctor!

t think I want to risk it though. Breastfeeding was the reason I went on to Zoloft instead of going back on Lexapro. It works well and I didn't have any problems while breastfeeding, which I did for about 3 1/2 months. But while the baby is still developing I just don't think my depression is bad enough to outweigh the risks to the baby. I guess now my question is how am I supposed to stop taking it. I know they suggest tapering off....

I take Zoloft and my midwife has been fine with it and I was on it while breastfeeding my first and will stay on it while breastfeeding this one as well

up until i found out I was preggers. I plan to get back on the lexapro again....just bc my anxiety has been up and down....but when its up its rough....so I figured I'd try it out again.... There hasn't been too much evidence on lexapro....from what Ive read on major side effects on infants except for sleepiness and possible loss of appetite or weight loss.....I definately don't want to pose any risks on my baby.......klonopin probly is not safe whatsoever....

In the past yr I have been on celexa, lexapro , Zoloft and now back on lexapro because the 200 mg of Zoloft was making me shakey. None of these AD's seem to work aty anxiety and depression. The only slight relief I get is from klonopin, which I have been on for a yr also (low dose .25mg 3x's a day. My podcast keeps telling me to be patient because it takes time for these mess to work .

No disrespect, but this is one of the more absurd questions I have read. You are on an anti-depressant (lexapro) and consuming alcohol, a CNS depressant, AND taking another mind-numbing substance (Vicodin). You should be taking Lexapro ONLY to deal with depression or whatever reason you are taking it. Both other meds are contraindicated for Lexapro. Smarten up.

Equivalencies are generalizations, and you are an individual. Besides, Pristiq is a different class of drug than Lexapro. Lexapro is an ssri while Pristiq is an snri. And if it were me, which it isn't, I'd start at a low dosage and work my way up on any medication so I could see how bad the side effects were and the lowest dosage at which it works is.

Is lexapro and xanax the same? If not, what is the difference and does the lexapro make you feel the same as xanax do??

Hi all As part of my treatment for trying to uncover why I have tachycardia, I had to see a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me Xanax (extended release - once daily) and Lexapro b/c he believes i suffer from generalized anxiety and possible depression. Does anyone on this board (with heart rhythm issues) have success stories from these drugs that you could share with me?

I was taking lexapro and felt it was doing fairly well. Recently I had surgery and this doctor changed the lexapro to a paxil and buspar. At first I felt fine but now three weeks of the new meds and I am tired all of the time and very down. I have a medical condition that I have to take several meds for ex: fentora, oxyliquid, fentanel patch. perscribed through a pain management doctor. There is not much follow up with the new medicine and I wonder if all of this is good.

The Lexapro is an SSRI antidepressant that will take some time to become effective (typically 4-6 weeks, sometimes up to 8 weeks, especially when starting on a low dose as you are). The Xanax is a benzodiazepine, anti-anxiety medication that is being Rx'ed to treat the symptoms of anxiety while you're adjusting to the Lexapro, and waiting for it to become effective in reducing your anxiety.

Ive recently been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and my doctor wants me to take medication. It's also contributing to an excessive weight gain. I looked up the effects of Lexapro and a lot of the side affects concerned me so my dr suggested Zoloft which doesn't look as bad. Has anyone taken these medications or know anyone who did?

if your main symptom is palpitations, then a beta blocker might be more appropriate than Lexapro. But if you had a lot of problems and most have gone away, then stick with the Lexapro -- drugs don't cure, they just mitigate the symptoms. You'll always have symptoms unless you find a cure through some kind of therapy work.

Started Lexapro today and I am quite "jittery" and shaky. does anyone know if I can take a small benzo to help calm me down until the Lexapro takes effect?

I am now on Bupropreon (sorry for the spelling) which is the opposite of Lexapro and it works better for me as it treats my ADD and my mood swings.

Has anyone ever taken Lexapro and Abilify together? I've been on 10mg Lexapro (for chronic dysthymia) for about 2 years now. I've always had positive reactions to Lexapro: great sex drive, great mood, slept okay (I do take Lunesta for sleep). I've been on Zoloft for five years 100 mgs now on 50 mgs and trying Lexapro . Past two weks my anxiety has tripled so my doc put me on cymbalta. Will Cymbalta increase my anxiety like the Lexapro I hear they are similiar? Are there any odd side effects. Doc is starting me on 30 mgs.
