212161 tn?1599427282 Have you been anxious over anything lately, or in pain? My blood pressure was about 167/114 without my meds. After an injury to my upper arm my blood pressure went way up due to the pain. Let me know what it reads today.
Avatar m tn i have had panic and pvcs for years and ive been on zoloft (for 10 years and it eventually stopped working) prozac, wellbutrin and lexapro.unfortunately, one of the side effects of lexapro is palpitations and in my case it made them worse.i'm muddling through now on no antidepressants, just some ativan as needed for anxiety. i hope lexapro works for you better than it did for me. and if it doesnt, there are tons of other ssris to try!good luck!
Avatar n tn Is it possible to experience increased blood pressure after stopping Lexapro? I have been off of Lex for about 4 months and I am now on 4 different blood pressure meds. Would stopping Lexapro be a cause? If so is it possible to go back to taking Lexapro?
Avatar f tn I was put on Lexapro about 6 months ago for anxiety. After being on lexapro, I started having problems with high blood pressure. Like usually 150/100 or so. It was so weird to me that all of a sudden for 6 months I was having high blood pressure when I never ever before had any issues with it. Then it started giving me anxiety that my bp was so high. Is this a side effect of Lexapro? Will it go down after stopping? Should I get on a bp medicine?
1295419 tn?1276822872 Hi all-- I started taking Lexapro last week for severe GAD and have noticed that my blood pressure is a little on the high side after taking it and my heart rate it a little higher as well. It seems like every time I stand up my heart rate increases, even from that minimal activity. I like the effects of the Lexapro mentally, but just curious if anyone else had similar side effects and if so, if they went away or you had to start taking something else?
Avatar f tn I have been on lexapro for about 5 weeks. My blood pressure is increasing. It's running 130's over 90's. Doctor wants to put me on water pill. i don't want to take something else because antidepressant causing bp to rise that's crazy. Is there any antidepressants that help with anxiety that do not cause blood pressure to rise?
Avatar n tn Has anyone else experienced a low heart rate while on lexapro. Took imipramine on/off for 20+ years with the only side effect being heartrate in the 90's - then blood pressure started to go up a little. Went off imipramine and doctor put me on lexapro - now have gained a little weight, am tired, clenching jaw at night, blood pressure back down, but pulse is constantly in the 50's which is freaking me out a little. Have been on lexapro for 6 months now - libido gone also....
Avatar m tn I have suffered from anxiety in the past, however, I have quit my medication (lexapro) about 8 months ago, and after the first 1-2 months, my anxiety completely disappeared. 8 months ago my heart rate was around 65bpm, and my blood pressure around 135/80. Nowadays, my heart rate is around 80-85bpm resting, and my BP around 145/90. I have in the past tested my thyroid function (no problems), did several ECGs, one echo, as well as tests to check cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Avatar n tn It works great for me with absolutely no side effects. My sister takes lexapro and swears by it but changed to paxil because Lexapro is so expensive and paxil is 4 dollars at walmart. Drink a lot of fluids to keep flushing your system is about all you can do. Sorry I do not have more to offer.
Avatar f tn hey, yes i get that pressure feeling to, and im on lexapro, i think its from higher bloody pressure, thats a symptom of high blood pressure, even if you dont generally have high blood pressure, it naturally goes up and down throughout the day and this can be caused by that, i don't think its anything to worry about, i have it most days to, mostly in the mornings or evenings, but goes away after a while when i relax..
Avatar m tn On a recent visit to the Dr, I made them take a Sitting and Standing check of my Blood Pressure and the difference from Sitting to Standing was a 20 point drop. We repeated it to verify the findings. The determination was Orthostatic Hypotension/Low Blood Pressure. Further findings was Dehydration partially causing the Low BP. Now the Sequence of Events Leading to today. 7 weeks ago I was offered a Hot Tub from a friend, the only drawback was I had to move it right away.
Avatar m tn However I am concerned as I suffer from high blood pressure and racing heartbeat and now I am afraid to take the Lexapro as I fear its going to worsen my not so good blood pressure and heart rate. Is this a valid cause for concern?  I DONT want higher blood pressure and heart rate.  Should I continue taking the Xanax as prescribed if I dont wish to take the lexa? Also is it possible to just medicate myself on Xanax and skip the antidepressants altogether!?
847195 tn?1296171647 What are some bad things more of this drug can do to my body? (ie does it raise blood pressure or things like that..?) P.S one more question on Globus Hystericus (lump in the throat, can't swallow..) I no some of us mentioned that they are on different drugs or whatnot, like myself, I'm on Lexapro. But what other things help people with this terrible traumatic terrifying condition?
1452588 tn?1285086427 I was put on BP meds over a year ago and took Lexapro also, I have gained about 30 lbs in a year. I was going through a very rough time in my life and think now I could come off one. I heard that some meds help with BP and ect Any ideas. Also I changed from Lexapro 2 months ago on a low dose then he uped the dose and have been moody, and angry. any ideas ????
Avatar n tn The drug induces a state of sodium retention, which raises orthostatic blood pressure, and thus, minimizes or prevents syncope episodes - particularly those occurring with abrupt changes in posture. Would suggest seeking the opinion of a cardiologist or neurologist who specializes in Dysautonomia. A baseline Isuprel tilt-table test will establish the diagnosis. A repeat tilt-table test would assess your response to the Fludrocortisone.
Avatar n tn Current meds I am on are Enalipril, Zolpiden, Aspirin, Fish Oil, and a Multi-Vitimin (stopped taking Coreg). Blood pressure has been stable since Feb. 3rd due to increase dosage of Enalipril. On Jan. 15th, my doctor gave me Lexapro and new problems started. I took 10mg for the first 6 days then went to 5mg/day until Feb. 3rd. The reason for the change was because of severe side effects. Dizziness, tremors, jaw pain, loud ringing in ears, nausea were the main issues.
Avatar f tn Primary care doc says no I dont have low blood pressure, its most likely the lexapro. He prescibed Kolonsopan for my anxiety. and told me to stop taking the lexapro--well me being a skeptic called my phyciatrist and asked him if I should stop the lexpro---he said no...meanwhile my sister told me that she experienced the same visual disturances while on lexapro and is now taking celexa.
Avatar f tn alcohol is something you should avoid. The truth is, alcohol directly affects your nervous system and blood pressure. Alcohol increases your heart rate and affects your serotonin levels in your brain. Serotonin levels affect your mood; nervousness, and depression set in when the serotonin levels fluctuate due to drinking, which usually leads to anxiety. You might want to keep in mind, that if you end up w/a hangover from over consumption, your anxiety could be overwhelming.
Avatar f tn Will be seeing her this week, I did some research on webmd, and it may be an interaction with my blood pressure med. Will keep you all informed so that others may benefit from the info. It's not getting any worse, but it is annoying, and the last thing we of the panic-disordered need is an extra symptom!
Avatar f tn It is cardiac and my blood pressure is low, I don't expect any dr. Here to give me a definite diagnosis but I believe 12 brains are better than one. My blood pressure is low, it's sinus tachycardia. I was just prescribed corlanor from what I can conclude from the way most research and dr. S is it's dysautonomia of some sort.
Avatar f tn I currently take 1.5 xanax a day and my psych wants me to switch to klonopin 2mg a day. I'm also supposed to start Lexapro but I'm TERRIFIED of the possible side effects of the switching and starting the lexapro. By the way, I've been taking Xanax for a month and a half now. Please, anybody, who's been through this hell, any input will be greatly appreciated. Is Lexapro going to make my anxiety worse?
Avatar n tn I experienced high blood pressure, restlesness, numbness in my left arm, was lightheaded and when attacks started I was very tense. I was prescribed lexapro and toprol. After 2 years I was filling well and stopped taking medication. For 2 months everything was fine. But after 2 months I experienced same signs of anxiety attack. For 2 weeks now I constantly fill numbness in my left arm, dizziness, lightheadness and anxiety. My blood pressure went up. All heart tests are fine, but I fill bed.
Avatar m tn Very unusual that your doctor would want to take you off your meds. Is he aware that you suffer from Major Depression? If so was he expecting that your depression would just go away on it's own? This would be much like a doctor that has a patient with high blood pressure saying, "Hey guess what, I'm going to take you off your high blood pressure meds even though you still have high blood pressure." I just don't get it?????????? My suggestion........
Avatar f tn Ziac is for high blood pressure and I doubt you have this at 20! Do you know why it was given to you? Imitrex is for migraines, do you get migraine headaches? Lexapro is used to treat anxiety and obcessive compulsive disorders (OCD). This is where one keeps doing something repeatedly, like handwashing, cleaning, checking locks, etc. People with OCD often have ADHD as well. Lexapro can calm you and help you concentrate, but it doesn't sound like it's working for you.
