Lexapro and ativan

Common Questions and Answers about Lexapro and ativan

lexapro

Both gave me horrible side effects. The she prescribed me .5 Ativan and Lexapro. Ativan works for a little bit but whenever I take .5 mg of Lexapro it seems to exaggerate the anxiety. I started taking the medications for 4 days now . Is it possible to have any withdrawal symptoms from taking Ativan? I am determined to find something like herbal supplements to help me with the anxiety. Please help me. Thank you.
Lately I have been taking a .5 mg tab of Ativan every morning and this is enough to help me get things under control and function for the day. My question is this: is this low dose of Ativan still addictive? Or does it have enough time to clear the body?
I was put on a low dose of Paxil and given Ativan. I only took the Ativan as needed, normally at night, but still use the Paxil to this day. The Ativan, in my opinion (and I am not a medical professional), should only be used to get you through a bad episode. You would need to speak with your GP about what kinds of maintenance meds he or she would reccomend and they sometimes it's trial and error. The other option is distraction and then realization.
Two that I would personally recomend for anxiety are Zoloft and Lexapro. Both have pretty good success rates, and are both fairly easy to tolerate. Something to ask your doc about. Cymbalta is a good med, but seems to have less of an affinity for anxiety, and seems to be more effective for just depression, plus is can be activating, which isn't good for someone with anxiety. The psychiatrist is the way to go for meds, so definitely do that!
I have read every book out there, been on every website. Tried Lexapro for 2 days and I couldn't believe the agitation I felt, and scared me so I stopped. My physician gave me a script for ativan .5 mg as needed. I may have taken about 2 a week when really scared(over my physical feelings) but have read the horror stories of addiction so I want to avoid even the 2 per week. I do take ambien to sleep and even want to stop that.
three times daily. It got worse and he prescribed lexapro (10mg) a day in conjuction with the ativan. It got worse and he prescribed 1mg of ativan three times daily. I am now down to two mg daily and I fell better. However, he suggested I take ..5 mg in the morning and .5 in the evening. Immediately, it brought on a severe anxiety attack. I want to ween safely. Please advise. I stll take lexapro at night. I often feel anxious once I take that. He said that it is unusual to fee that way.
I have been taking .5 mg Ativan and .5 Lexapro for almost 2 months now for anxiety. I wanted to get off both meds after reading some of the horrid side effects. It worked for a few weeks where I felt back to my old self. Lately, I am experiencing rapid heart beat and mild panic/anxiety attacks. I wanted to find more natural ways to control my anxiety but I am dreading the withdrawal symptoms I may go through. If anybody has any advice please let me know.
Also on one of my posts (on the other forum) I had my med list and both Lexapro and Ativan were on there explaining how they worked for me. The Ativan dosage was 0.5mg three times daily. While of course a doctor is needed in relation to these questions I have a couple of questions: 1. If Lexapro 20mg caused me to become manic, could I have success at 10mg without switching to mania? 2. Is it possible to taper down from Xanax 2mg/day to Ativan .5mg TID?
30 mgs for one week, then 20 mgs for one week, 10 mgs and then 5 mgs. It wasn't so bad, though I did get a tingly feeling in my arms, felt sweaty and hot sometimes, and got a headache for 2 days. It could have been worse. If you stop cold turkey I'm sure it's much worse!
i just got used to atenolol side affects and read about the lexapro side affects and just not sure i want anymore cant take many more before iam over the edge so your input helps me .i ve never had to take a med everyday i could take a few ativan here and there and get over it but this time around its beating me down. how soon after you took it did you see a difference and did you take 10mg to start. i though about cutting into first week making it 5 so maybe side affects wont be so bad .
When I told her my reactions and some of the things I learned here she told me I shouldn't feel that way so soon and switched me to Lexapro. Has anyone taken this medication for depression, stress and anxiety?
i have taken lexapro before and had no problems with it (i had problems with some other ones). if the anxiety is interfering with your life, and you want to do something about it, i would recommend the lexapro. i didn't have any problems while i was on it, or when i came off of it either.
Does anyone have a suggestion for helping with withdrawal symptoms from these meds? I am under a doctor's care. I am to continue on Ativan and I went off all the others about 4 weeks ago. I take my temperature everyday and my blood pressure. I also drink as much water as I can with lemon. I am miserable. Any other suggestions? Thank you for your help.
Compared to 25 pills per day just 3 months ago, down to 3 in a.m. and 4 in p.m. (More if more Ativan is needed). I must say my mind is much clearer and I don't feel so 'toxic'. Now, I am scared about going off Ativan. That's what this is really all about, although I got side-tracked (sorry!) but you feel so alone in making these types of decisions.
I have mad an appointment with a psych for two weeks from now,and am worried that he will not perscribe for me this continuing dose. Should I start tapering off of the Ativan, and at what amount? (my doc just said to do it cold turkey...does she want me to die?!?!) Im very nervous and scared about this.
Some times I forget to take it and my head hurts and my stomach hurts. Is this normal? Also my nose tingles and my doctor said that is the anixity. My anixity is alot better and I want to come off of it, but I can't tell if it is my nerves or the medicine. When I have few busy stressful days it can wipe me out, I feel very tired. I walk almost every day to fight the fatigue. My Doctor said it is my nerves and it isn't physical.
I just recently started having real bad anxiety and was put on ativan for a bit than put on lexapro which sucked. Now I gotta go back to doc to see if they can give me something else.
I'm still taking the Vicodin hoping that it will help me get off Ativan. I'm really scared by all the stuff I've read about Ativan and wish I'd never started it.I guess my question is: Will I feel better soon? I'd appreciate just having someone to talk to about this. Thanks.
I just started Pristiq and Im also on ativan and abilify............wondering if anyone else has taken these meds together.I felt great after taking the pill last night now today im kinda scared and spacey feeling...any thoughts?
So my therapist put me on lexapro (my dr is out of the country) and Klonopin. 1mg. Tonight I read some bad stuff about benzo withdrawal and Ativan and Klonopin were on there as some of the worst. I've only been on the Klonopin for abou 10 days. But only took an entire 1 mg just the first few days now I don't need it at all during the day but I'm taking half of one at night to help sleep. My question is, do you think I was experiencing Ativan withdrawal ? Or not?
Hey Guys, Do any of you know the difference in these benzos, like which one is supposed to do what and what is stronger and less strong, etc? I've taken Ativan for anxiety as needed, and my doc mentioned switching to klonopin or xanax since the ativan doesnt work that great anymore...can anyone help?
ativan and Klonopin. Thanks. I am seeing my pdoc on Nov. 11th and need to talk (again, so frustrating) about my meds. Prior to last week, I was feeling pretty good. I am also in pain management ( arthritis in back) and prescribed 10 mg. oxycodone ( 1 in am and 1 in pm). Please help as I need to know....thanks.
He has decided to gradually up the Celexa again and ween me off the Ativan. this is 3 days later and i am home from school with dizziness and nausea. From what I read that is normal withdrawal, and i'm certain it will pass. However, my question is if the Celexa was bad to bring up the first time, will it necessarily have the same result months later? If anyone has any information on this medication please help me, i'm a little worried!
One time my doc and I were trying other types of tranquilizers to see how well they worked, and ativan was one. I simply cannot recall what dose I took, but it kept my anxiety down about the same as the klonopin. You can do a general search online for the drug, just type in the name in the search rectangle, and you can find dosage info and advice as to how much a person should take and how often. But whenever you feel the anxiety building, take the medicine, tho.
Is valerian or other herbal sleep supplements a bad option while going off Lexapro and Ativan? Any input is appreciated, thanks....
The one thing that does help me relax when my palps are bad is ativan as needed 1 to 2 mg. So my question is is it really necessary to keep taking the Lexapro? It may be decreasing my overall anxiety but my palps seem to come on when they please. Thanks!
First, it takes four to six weeks usually for an anti-depressant like Lexapro to start working, unlike ativan, which works quickly. But the side effects start right away, and often an anti-depressant can be stimulating and increase anxiety. Sometimes it goes away, sometimes, if the med isn't for you, it doesn't. Only time will tell that.

hello, i am a 25 year old healthy female with moderate-severe anxiety and panic attacks. i just got a prescription for lexapro from my doctor (10 mg a day) and have been on it for 2 days. already, i am experiencing heightened anxiety, severe panic attacks (a rushing feeling in my body and a sense of doom), hot flashes, and a bit of insomnia (been up since 4 AM this morning). do these side effects dissipate? i am so hesitant to be on an anti-anxiety drug that actually increases the anxiety!!!
