Please advise. I stll take lexapro at night. I often feel anxious once I take that. He said that it is unusual to fee that way.
Both gave me horrible side effects. The she prescribed me .5 Ativan and Lexapro. Ativan works for a little bit but whenever I take .5 mg of Lexapro it seems to exaggerate the anxiety. I started taking the medications for 4 days now . Is it possible to have any withdrawal symptoms from taking Ativan? I am determined to find something like herbal supplements to help me with the anxiety. Please help me. Thank you.
For what it's worth, .25 mg of Ativan is a very low dose. A standard dose is a 1mg tablet as needed, with the option of taking half if that's all you feel is necessary. So you've been taking half of a half dose. I agree with Paxilled that your GP doesn't seem well-versed in how much Ativan is right. I'm not a doc but I've taken my share of Ativan so I know how it works. My non-expert opinion is stop the Paxil and Lexapro, and take only the Ativan as needed.
I would never do these types of meds with a GP. I wouldn't even do them with most psychiatrists. Most docs prescribe what they're told about last by the pharmaceutical rep instead of tailoring it to the individual patient. As for the Lexapro, it does seem to increase anxiety in many before it starts working -- it usually takes about 4-6 weeks to be effective -- but only being on it for two weeks it should be no problem to quit, though tapering is a good idea.
I was put on Lexapro 6 days ago and i have felt sick since about the 2nd day,im feeling nausated,week, ill in general i had burning facial cheeks before going on the lexapro but now i have burning arms and legs like coming from the inside out im so tired all the time i read in teh phamplet that came with lexapro u could get serotonin syndrome though rare and it increased if you are on other meds Im on klonopin and ativan as needed,Im so scared but i love in rural town and the drs here refuse to
I take a big dose of Ativan a day 6mg , was 4mg for 4years but tolerance forces increase , my 5mg Lexapro has pooped and I am in trouble now. having used all the SSRI,S and not wishing to go back on any SNRI I am forced to try sertraline again . It was the med that pooped before Lexapro so its second go and I don't hold much hope.
I took Ativan and Zyprexa together along with Lexapro with no problems other than being a zombie and fattening up my body to 116lbs--which is half of my two pregnancy weights.
So--I got off the Zyprexa and now take Lexapro and Ativan (2mg) as needed.
I really hated Zyprexa--it made me have a Turtle Brain....
I spoke with my Dr. and I have restarted the Lexapro, and starting to feel better, with the help of the Ativan. I do get headaches on the Lexapro, but I am willing to deal with them until I get my feet wet on the new job, then I will be able to deal with the waiting period for a new med to work.

Thanks for the encouragement about Lexapro and Klonopin. I'm on the same regimen and just took my first Lexapro 10 mg this morning. Did you experience any side effects the first week? I feel hyper alert but not focused, actually it heightened my anxiety!!
Taking more Klonopins to work for sure, in case the Lex triggers a panic attack.
I have burning skin all over also from anxiety - Lyrica is really suppose to help with this also Cymbalta. Have you tried either of these. Lorazepam use to help but I became tolerant of it and am now weaning off. It's hard I was on 5 mg a day and am now down to 2.5 mg. Try not to use it if you don't have to as you do become tolerant and will need more. Ativan (Lorazepam is short acting and doesn't stay in your system very long. They say 6 hrs.

As part of my treatment for trying to uncover why I have tachycardia, I had to see a psychiatrist, who has prescribed me Xanax (extended release - once daily) and Lexapro b/c he believes i suffer from generalized anxiety and possible depression.
Does anyone on this board (with heart rhythm issues) have success stories from these drugs that you could share with me?
