Levoxyl treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Levoxyl treatment

synthroid

Avatar f tn I will probably either go back to taking my Nutri Thyroid at an increased dose or try Levoxyl. Has anybody got any experience with this drug or Evotrox Liquid ?? Thanks for any help and advice you can give me. AquarianGlory This discussion is related to Levothyroid and mood swings.
Avatar n tn 11 years later my dosage of levoxyl continues to go up. My Endo first ascribes this to my not being med compliant, then tells me it must be that I'm a mother and work full time, then tells me I'm lazy and I dont' exercise enough.... UGH! anyway my question is this.... if it is an autoimmune disease and it is treated with Levoxyl is that meant to be a cure??? is there a cure? or will my body continue to attack my thyroid gland?
Avatar n tn After taking the Thyroxine I noticed a terrible burning in the throat and indigestion which I never had with the Levoxyl. So I am requesting to be changed back to the Levoxyl. I think some of these medications have different ingredients. I never had this happen with the Levoxyl. I hope this helps anyone who has been put on the generic form of medication. Someone asked earlier if this will ever go away. No, once you develop thyroid disease it is for life.
616450 tn?1228433627 After the RAI I felt great for a few months. When the doctor put me on Levoxyl, after I supposedly went a LITTLE hypo, I started feeling like ****. I have more anxiety, can't sleep and my heart gets pumped up easily. I get out of breath real easy too. I think my heart is affected and I have chest pains. I feel sick and nauseated all the time and have to go lay down even at work, so I'll eventually lose my job if something isn't done.
Avatar n tn My doctor sent me to an endocrinologist who gave me levoxyl to shirnk it. My blood work all came back within normal ranges. The levoxyl caused me to have an allergic reaction after taking 1/2 of the smallest dose for 3 days(panic attack, itchy skin and scalp and shortness of breath.) He has told me to stop taking the levoxyl and come back in 3 months. I feel a fullness in my throat sometimes. When I lay down on my back it feels heavy.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I am hearing positive things about levoxyl (brand). I am currently on a compound and i have been on it for about 8 weeks now. My numbers are getting pretty bad and the doctor says the compound is not right for me. My last full test showed that my tsh was at 65. The ft3 was 1.3 (range 2.3 to 3.9) and my ft4 was .4 (range .8 to 1.8) currently my tsh is at 115 but i do not know my frees right now. they are suggesting moving me from a compound of 150 to a levoxyl of 175.
Avatar n tn I take Levoxyl 50mcg twice a day. I understand this is T4. I am experiencing hair loss and thinning. Could T4/T3 help me? Is Levoxyl the same as Synthroid? Is there really anything that can help hair to grow back? I am an 80 year old woman, in excellent health aside from the loss of T4.
Avatar m tn prior to my TT I was taking 50mcg of Levoxyl...post op my endo wrote me a prescription for Synthroid. Is there a major difference and or side effects from these 2 drugs. I am currently on 75 mcg of Synthroid 6 weeks post op and my TSH is now at 12.1...pre-op was at .5...and 2 weeks post op was at 1.0....the switch to Synthroid was at my 2 week post op appt. I am just wondering if the drug switch has anything to do with that...
Avatar n tn Hi! I'm confused about my diagnosis. In March 2009 my endo told me I had Hashimoto based on thyroid antibodies (TgAb 963, TPOAb 86), but she was not going to treat me because even though I was very symptomatic my TSH was normal @ 2.88. I mentioned my mom had Graves and died at 39 of a heart attack. She then ordered a TSI test and that was 151% but again didn't offer any treatment.
Avatar f tn I was reading these questions and answers and have found that I have also had a reaction to Levoxyl. I have been on the drug since the end of January when my endo switched me from Synthroid to Levoxyl (125 mcg). For about 3-4 weeks now I have noticed that my blood pressure is higher than normal, 138/78, it used to be 110/70. I get heart palpitations and my chest feels like it is squezing in the front and the back.
Avatar f tn ive recently went through divorce and have no insurance, so no medical care, my question is how long can your body go with out levoxyl, i have no thyroid, removal in 2001 was in thyroid storm and had graves,,,, any natural componants i can get over the counter? been without for about 2 mounts now,m any really starting to notice a change. Please help !!!
Avatar n tn I have been taking Levoxyl .75 for 3 years. Latest blood work says I am low. I am changing to Armour. My Dr. recommended 1 grain. Is that a good conversion? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Hi, My Doctor started me with Levoxyl at 50 mcg (he said at this dose it had no additional fillers - he was concerned that I was reacting to fillers which is odd as he had me on 50 mcgs of Tirosint prior and pulled me off because he thought I was reacting to Tirosint (my skin was peeling). Interestingly he tried 75 mcg of synthroid (which I do have hay fever so that didn't work) and said I really needed 75 mcgs but I guess he wanted to see how well I would tolerate the levoxyl.
Avatar n tn Medically, the switch from Tirosint to Levoxyl was totally painless, though I did go from 88 mcg to 100 mcg, but I was ready to do that on Tirosint, as well. I feel as good, or better, than I did on Tirosint. The best part is that my wallet loves the price difference. I just picked up my refill yesterday, so I'm good to go for another 90 days.
Avatar n tn I have been back on Levoxyl after being off it for 8 months.I felt good at first but going in to my third week -not so good.I feel very tired, legs are wobbly and like jelly at times.I just feel blah and like passing out at times. Is it possible the dose is too high?My doctor put me on 88 mcg when I was previously on 75.tsh was over 26 but I hear it corrects pretty qiuickly when back on meds.Any input would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn In 2005 I had the right side of my thyroid removed. I've been on Levoxyl 75mcg. since that time and recently was put on Cytomel .5mgc twice a day. What would result if I had to stop taking them? Thank you kindly for your information.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 25mgs of levoxyl and everytime I take the pill i get a racing heartbeat and heart palpitations. I have called my doctor and the nurse there told me to take the pill every other day. i tried that but then I would get the palpitations on the days I would take it. Then I called back after a week and was told to take it every 3 days. I stopped for 3 days to get some of it out of my system and felt great. Not as many palpitations and i was able to sleep.
Avatar n tn I have hypothyroidism and rosacea. My doc started me on levoxyl about 3 years ago. Within about 2 months, I was diagnosed with Rosacea. I finally made the connection about 1 year ago that maybe it was the levoxyl making my face so red, so I stopped taking it. And sure enough my face stopped being so red. But, I really need the thyroid meds so my doc had me take synthroid, this made my face red again with little bumps this time.
Avatar f tn Okay, after all of my issues with my teeth hurting, dry mouth, TSH not budging, my doc called me today and suggested I switch from Levoxyl to Synthroid. What kind of side effects am I looking at? The dosage is the same. I've always taken Levoxyl, for 14 years. Now, after the thyroidectomy I'm just having minor issues like no saliva! Doc doesn't think it's related to the meds but he's willing to switch me to see if it makes a difference.
Avatar f tn I presently take 125 mcg of Levoxyl and am continuing to have symptoms. My physician has suggested that I try to add 15mg of Armour Thyroid. I can't find information on the usefulness of combining these drugs. Has anyone tried it? This discussion is related to how to change to armour frm levoxyl.
Avatar f tn You have become HYPOthyroid after RAI and need to start levothyroxine. This means the treatment was successful in taking care of the hyperthyroidism, but now the trade-off is hypothyroidism that needs treatment (this is very common).
Avatar f tn Based on my blood test result my doctor made a derision regarding my thyroid gland, and Levoxyl 0,05 mg was prescribed, My questions: 1. Which blood test parameters are telling that I have to start/stop taking Levoxyl? 2. Can I replace Levoxyl with natural products (some diet, using the iodized salt, etc.) ? Many thanks!
398079 tn?1235171132 I had my RAI Jan 14th and was told that I will probably be having another treatment in July. Is that normal to have a follow up treatment and know about it ahead of time? I had my thyroid removed Aug 07 and ever since I have no energy. I was always a very active person before this happened and now I don't even have the energy to walk on the treadmill for 15 mins a day. It like no matter how much sleep I get I always seem to want more. I normally sleep about 6-7 hours a night.
