synthroid

Avatar n tn Hello, it has been a year since my surgery and my TSH levels are still not normal and I still don't feel "right" I have been on 6 different medications with varying "side effects" from palpitations, sweating, insomnia, numbness/tingling, adic reflux, foggy head, blurry vision. First medication tried was .75 of Synthroid, then generics, Cytomel, Armour. Currently on .25 Levoxyl on 4 times per week.
1063764 tn?1272821064 Hey I have been taking Tirosint for 3 months and I have had terrible side effects. I have lost so much more hair, I have broken out in hives, major headaches, memory loss, confusion, major depression, weight gain, on and on. I was taking armor before this and I had a lot less side effects. I felt so much better but the med world doesn't want to support armor for some reason so they fight against us taking it.
Avatar f tn Was dx with Graves disease almost 12 yrs ago and had the radioactive iodine treatment at that time. Was placed on thyroid medication and seemed to tolerate it with no problems with allergic reactions. For the past 5 months I've been dealing with medication problems and difficulty adjusting my thyroid levels. It went over active and then underactive. I've been on both generic and brand name Levothyroxine.
Avatar m tn When I started on this brand, Levoxyl, I had subtle side effects right away. It was the same when I had started on another brand, Synthroid, and before that on a generic. They did subside though. If yours don't, call and tell the dr. It's good you read the insert and it sounds like you're taking good care of yourself. Keep it up.
Avatar f tn She said that my symptoms were not from the med (even though my side effects were listed at the drug makers website) She told me I needed a neurologist. I left there knowing I'd never return. I called my primary care doctor and asked her to prescribe Armour thyroid for me until I found a new endocrinologist. She did. Within 3 days the pins & needles were gone, the pounding in my ears disappeared and my blood pressure went back to normal.
Avatar n tn After reading several forums on different sites I can tell you I am scared to death of what is going to happen after surgery with the thyroid repalcement side effects. I have multinodular thyroid with pressure syptoms, but I have always had normal levels on my bloodwork. I do seem to have some hypo symptoms like I have always seemed to be cold, had to fight with my weight, and had constipation, and mood swings ( usually anger issues). I always just assumed it was me and that was just how I was.
Avatar f tn Some of us are very sensitive to levo and have to start out at a very low dose and increase very slowly or we have side-effects. Also, if the palps persist, ask about a beta blocker. BBs really help palps, and they do it almost immediately. Also vey cheap.
Avatar f tn Went back on Levoxyl 25 mcg and the insomnia got worse, wasn’t horrible I should’ve stayed on it but they switched me to the generic which gave me the same side effects as Synthroid. I stopped again 2020 September got blood work done and the results were completely confusing. Yes you are absolutely correct, they put me on a beta blocker due to a high heart rate, due to stress.
727481 tn?1231203771 I was taking 88mcg of Levoxyl and because I felt unwell taking synthetic thyroid medications my doctor is having me try Armour. She gave me 90mg of Armour in place of 88mcg of Levoxl. Can anyone tell me if that is a correct converstion since now I feel extremely unwell, internal tremors, light headedness, etc. Seems to me that 90mg is too high when I look at some of the conversion tables on the internet, but I'm not sure they are correct. My TH prior to the change to Armour was .45.
Avatar f tn I was reading these questions and answers and have found that I have also had a reaction to Levoxyl. I have been on the drug since the end of January when my endo switched me from Synthroid to Levoxyl (125 mcg). For about 3-4 weeks now I have noticed that my blood pressure is higher than normal, 138/78, it used to be 110/70. I get heart palpitations and my chest feels like it is squezing in the front and the back.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from dizzyness, nausious, havnt been able to ride in months. So i told the doc. He said it may be side effects from the levoxyl, so he put me on synthoid. I have had inner ear problems in the past.Dont know if its the meds or could be inner ear prob. causing the dizzyness and nasious spells. Does anyone else feel this way??? Does thyroid prob. cause inner ear prob. or extreme dizzyness?? Or is it the medication??
Avatar f tn My doctor (gp) doctor reduced my meds from 125mcg to 75mcg and sent me in a tail spin again to now being under active again. So he sent me to the Endo and she raised my Levoxyl to 112mcg and kept my Cytomel the same at 15mcg 2x daily. After 7 weeks I was tested again and my levels went into the normal range but just above the beginning normal levels which is not optimal for me. Still feeling like garbage.
Avatar f tn I have never had any side effects of meds. Make sure that you take it at the same time and follow directions carefully that makes a big difference in the absorption of the medication. Also try to take it at the same time. I am glad that you have an appointment with the DR. Good luck!
230948 tn?1235844329 I was so irritable all the time. All I could do was stay in bed. I realized these were all side effects of this patch. The side effects of the patch so adversely effected my life I decided to take it off one night. I went through a detox like you'd never imagine. I had hallucinations, vomitting etc. I had no idea what I had done. I put the patch back on, and weened myself off of it over the next two weeks. I just couldn't live that way.
Avatar n tn After taking the Thyroxine I noticed a terrible burning in the throat and indigestion which I never had with the Levoxyl. So I am requesting to be changed back to the Levoxyl. I think some of these medications have different ingredients. I never had this happen with the Levoxyl. I hope this helps anyone who has been put on the generic form of medication. Someone asked earlier if this will ever go away. No, once you develop thyroid disease it is for life.
Avatar f tn In 2005 I had the right side of my thyroid removed. I've been on Levoxyl 75mcg. since that time and recently was put on Cytomel .5mgc twice a day. What would result if I had to stop taking them? Thank you kindly for your information.
