Levoxyl medication

Common Questions and Answers about Levoxyl medication

synthroid

Avatar f tn My doctor (gp) doctor reduced my meds from 125mcg to 75mcg and sent me in a tail spin again to now being under active again. So he sent me to the Endo and she raised my Levoxyl to 112mcg and kept my Cytomel the same at 15mcg 2x daily. After 7 weeks I was tested again and my levels went into the normal range but just above the beginning normal levels which is not optimal for me. Still feeling like garbage.
Avatar n tn from palpitations, sweating, insomnia, numbness/tingling, adic reflux, foggy head, blurry vision. First medication tried was .75 of Synthroid, then generics, Cytomel, Armour. Currently on .25 Levoxyl on 4 times per week. Was thinking about switching back to Synthroid at a lower dosage - would this make sense? Has anyone else had bad side effects with meds, and then felt better on Synthroid? I just don't feel right, I don't feel well and I don' t know what to do. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn After taking the Thyroxine I noticed a terrible burning in the throat and indigestion which I never had with the Levoxyl. So I am requesting to be changed back to the Levoxyl. I think some of these medications have different ingredients. I never had this happen with the Levoxyl. I hope this helps anyone who has been put on the generic form of medication. Someone asked earlier if this will ever go away. No, once you develop thyroid disease it is for life.
727481 tn?1231203771 I was taking 88mcg of Levoxyl and because I felt unwell taking synthetic thyroid medications my doctor is having me try Armour. She gave me 90mg of Armour in place of 88mcg of Levoxl. Can anyone tell me if that is a correct converstion since now I feel extremely unwell, internal tremors, light headedness, etc. Seems to me that 90mg is too high when I look at some of the conversion tables on the internet, but I'm not sure they are correct. My TH prior to the change to Armour was .45.
Avatar n tn My mom is 76 years old and in the last 3 weeks her doctor lowered her thyroid medication (levoxyl 0.075 micrograms). She did not ask why he was doing this. She went for a regular checkup, she had no problems with any of her medications, everything was in work order. Since the lowering of Levoxyl she has had problems with depression, which she has never had before. She went back to the doctor and he gave her Zanex (spelling?)(for depression) and a note to see a phyciatrist.
Avatar n tn For the past 5 years or so, I have been struggling to find a medication or combination that works for me.
Avatar f tn I will probably either go back to taking my Nutri Thyroid at an increased dose or try Levoxyl. Has anybody got any experience with this drug or Evotrox Liquid ?? Thanks for any help and advice you can give me. AquarianGlory This discussion is related to Levothyroid and mood swings.
Avatar n tn Medically, the switch from Tirosint to Levoxyl was totally painless, though I did go from 88 mcg to 100 mcg, but I was ready to do that on Tirosint, as well. I feel as good, or better, than I did on Tirosint. The best part is that my wallet loves the price difference. I just picked up my refill yesterday, so I'm good to go for another 90 days.
Avatar f tn Levoxyl and Synthroid are basically the same: T4 thyroid hormone plus fillers and binders. Some patients do find that they tolerate some T4 meds better than others, due to the specific fillers and binders used. Otherwise, the switch can be done in one dose. Just switch brands. Now my questions are, why are you switching? What dosage are you taking currently? What are the problems you mention?
1130095 tn?1267369259 t taking a thyroid medication ask the doctor to prescribe a low dose thyroid medication. I take Levoxyl. I have for years. My thyroid tests come back normal however I have all the symptoms of under active thyroid. I went to a doctor years ago, he's since retired. He prescribe this Levoxyl for me. It helps with my fm pain like I can't tell you. So look in to that. Some times you really have to do your research and discuss it intelligently with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Levoxyl is the same as it was before it was recalled. I've been on it since August 2014 and have done very well with it. What T4 med & dosage were you on when you tried cytomel before? What dosage of cytomel and how did you take it - all at once or multiple times/day?
Avatar f tn In 2005 I had the right side of my thyroid removed. I've been on Levoxyl 75mcg. since that time and recently was put on Cytomel .5mgc twice a day. What would result if I had to stop taking them? Thank you kindly for your information.
Avatar f tn I guess I would like to know and logically I would believe that the two have to have some type of difference for the Levoxyl to be deemed as another brand medication. I am no longer subclinical but not very high, 6.4 at my highest. It is already very difficult to sleep as it is and now slowly titrating up to the 25 mcg Levoxyl is making it even more difficult. I can’t take sleeping pills every day.
1468158 tn?1363026295 t take it, but I do take a name brand, called Levoxyl, which in my opinion, is actually better than Synthroid. My insurance does not cover Levoxyl, but I do save, because I have insurance. It only costs me about $38 for a 90 day supply, so that's just over $10/month... I get mine at Walgreen's, so your pharmacy may charge more or less. My recommendation would be to try the less expensive generic since you are a mom on a budget and see how that works.
Avatar f tn Your thyroid levels were fine and if you added the cytomel to the 100mcg of levoxyl, the TSH will likely be too low (ie, too much medication) and if you stay on cytomel, the levoxyl dose would need to be changed most likely. The weight gain is not likely due to thyroid.
Avatar f tn I was reading these questions and answers and have found that I have also had a reaction to Levoxyl. I have been on the drug since the end of January when my endo switched me from Synthroid to Levoxyl (125 mcg). For about 3-4 weeks now I have noticed that my blood pressure is higher than normal, 138/78, it used to be 110/70. I get heart palpitations and my chest feels like it is squezing in the front and the back.
Avatar n tn Yes, Synthroid is the same as Levoxyl as being a brand thyroid medication. However, Levoxyl has less inactive ingredients than Synthroid, with less chance for adverse reactions. Active ingredients are the same. The active ingredient T4, is not known to cause adverse issues, however, the inactive ingredients in all the thyroid medications (including Armour and Cytomel), are the actual culprits. Armour is not a 100% natural. Nor a 100% cure-all for all our symptoms.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to take levoxyl and iron supplements both together on an empty stomach???
Avatar n tn Arguing this point was too much stress, so I stayed with the Levoxyl/Cytomel combo. Her suggestion was 4 days 50 mcg Levoxyl, 3 days 75 mcg Levoxyl and daily, 25 mcg Cytomel. I cut back to 75 mcg 2 days a week, as I was hungry all the time, and noted weight gain a month ago, Today, going over recent labs with the primary, she wants to reduce to 50 mcg of Levoxyl 7 days a week. Keeping the Cytomel at the current, 25 daily. I truly have no endo that I feel is competent.
727481 tn?1231203771 I had radioactive treament due to Graves Disease, and six months later my thyroid was declared dead. I was put on levothyroxin, synthroid and now levoxyl, but 3 months later I still feel awful. My symptoms are high blood pressure, constant trembling, feeling like I have the flu, dizziness, insomnia. My last blood test showed a TSH at 3.21, Free T4 at 1.0 and Free T3 at 3.1.
1063764 tn?1272821064 s and before I was on levoxyl I needed to take other OTC pain medication of a higher mg. Now after 3 months on levoxyl I can just take some Advil and no longer have the horrible headaches, yet I still do get a headache, but this headache I can deal with as opposed to the ones before I was diagnosed.
Avatar f tn I am currently on 325 mcg of Levoxyl and 12.5 mcg of Cytomel. My question is after two years of constant medication should my TSH level be so hard to get under control?
Avatar f tn m just adjusting to the thyroid juice and to hang in there. Continue with the same dosage of levoxyl. This is after taking the levoxyl from the end of June until the second week of October. She sent me to have a scan of my thyroid because she said it was enlarged and for more blood work. Had that done on 10/13/08. Went to the family doc on 10/9/08 and my blood pressure wasn't coming down (still at about 140/85) so he changes the med to lysinop HCTZ 20/25.
Avatar f tn Ok. So in October here are my results tsh .07- range .34-5.60 free t3 2.7 range 2.5-3.9 free t4 .84 range .71-1.85. This was taken by my GP who said I’m overmedicated as well. This is what I’ve been hearing for 8 years. Confused is an understatement. Im currently trying to raise my levels because of my headaches and depression is killing me. The naturopathic doctor changed me from naturethyroid to levoxyl and cytomel. To give it a try. Today was a bit better but now my head is killing me.
