Common Questions and Answers about Levoxyl levothroid

synthroid

Avatar n tn In the United States, brand names include Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothroid, Eltroxin, Tirosint and Unithroid; Generic forms are Levothyroxine sodium USP and L-thyroxine. There is still debate over whether generic thyroid supplements are as effective as thyroid brand name supplements.
Avatar n tn what levothyroxine from which pharmaceutical company is closest in compound to Levoxyl?
Avatar n tn Levothroid, Levoxyl, Levo-T, Synthroid, and Unithroid are all name brand Levothyroxine drugs. I may be missing a whole other group of drugs, but you may be able to find one of the above. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn I was reading these questions and answers and have found that I have also had a reaction to Levoxyl. I have been on the drug since the end of January when my endo switched me from Synthroid to Levoxyl (125 mcg). For about 3-4 weeks now I have noticed that my blood pressure is higher than normal, 138/78, it used to be 110/70. I get heart palpitations and my chest feels like it is squezing in the front and the back.
Avatar f tn synthroid, levothroid and currently have been on levoxyl for over five years. Now that my thyroid is gone is there a preferred thyroid replacement that is best? My surgeon was going to switch me off of levoxyl after surgery, but I resisted and wanted to stay on the levoxyl. I figured my body would be going through enough changes and shock already. I'm experiencing almost steady heart palpitations and heart pounding, since surgery two weeks ago. Could this be related to thyroid med?
404389 tn?1217030704 Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothroid, Unithroid. Be careful though. They are the same main ingredient but use different "binders". Personally I cannot take the generic and only do well on the Synthroid - others are quite opposite. You will find many of us out here who swear by a particular brand (or the generic) and refuse to switch because of bad experiences. If you are going to switch, talk to your endo first so your labs can be monitored.
Avatar f tn Some people do ok on it but some need to add levoxyl or levothroid. I dont like syndroid. I think it is a terrible thyroid medication. It cause your hair to fall out very badly! I did take valerian root capsules or gels -2-3 pills for the migraine because excedrin would not work. Try valerian root capsules. I hope you feel better!
Avatar f tn Was dx with Graves disease almost 12 yrs ago and had the radioactive iodine treatment at that time. Was placed on thyroid medication and seemed to tolerate it with no problems with allergic reactions. For the past 5 months I've been dealing with medication problems and difficulty adjusting my thyroid levels. It went over active and then underactive. I've been on both generic and brand name Levothyroxine.
4274823 tn?1388529098 I see people posting info about Tirosint being costly, but not having fillers and dye. Is it the same case with Levoxyl? I would have to pay for any prescription drugs myself so price is a consideration.
937837 tn?1285350385 I also found out it contained atacia which is not a good thing with people with severe allergies like me. I did my own research and found out that Levoxyl does not contain either ingredients. You may want to look that up. I don't know much about the "natural" such as Armor and so forth. I just had my endo changed my meds to Levoxyl so we will see how it goes! Good luck.
Avatar f tn Is there anyone who is taking Levoxyl who feels it is inconsistent from batch to batch and is different on every new batch. I take 3 of the white 50 mcg. pills because allergic to dyes, but have been doing that for years. Every time I get a new refill which is a different batch I get what I call a hypothyroid crash and all the symptoms come back on again and then I usually get a little better and then it leaves me either better or worse than the last one.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I have been taking levoxyl since about 6 months after my diagnosis of hashimotos and I started on levothroid my the ent doctor but my endo prefers levoxyl and I have been taking that ever since January of 2010 or sooner. I have mainly been on levoxyl.
407651 tn?1224189895 Levothyroxine Synthroid , Unithroid, Levoxyl and Levothroid thyroid hormone medications are not a chemical meant to trick our system in any way. It is not toxic like other medications since it is made the same as our naturally occurring thyroid hormone. However, ATDs are another matter. Levothyroxine, etc., is chemically identical to thyroxin (T4) in the system, and works in exactly the same way in the body, with the same effectiveness as the normally produced T4.
Avatar m tn You should remember that I did start you on levothroid and I have been reducing your medication dose for last few years from 100 mcg a day as far as I can remember to the current 75 mcg 1/2 tab daily. I also refer you to endocrinology few years ago and Dr. ******* did your thyroid biopsy but did not give advice about whether you should take more or less levothroid. Go to www.thyroid-info.com/articles/muscle-joint-pain.htm. They have mention hyperthyroid usually don't cause pain.
877337 tn?1249844450 Due As compare to men and women percentage women facing this more due to different hormone level. Levothroid balances thyroid hormone level. for more information on levothroid visit http://www.buylevothroid.
1263014 tn?1318032697 Well, I went to the doc and she was reluctant to run any new tests on me....ugggg Kaiser. she did get an MRA which was negative.....I told her to humor me and switch me back to whatever brand levothyroxine kaiser is using because I felt better on the batch I had right after surgery. It cost me $30 as opposed to $4 at Wal-Mart. When I got the bottle home, I had the stock bottle because Kaiser fills 90 days at a time.
Avatar n tn Forest laboratories make Armour, Thyrolar and Levothroid. Reading the article entitled "Does Forest Really Want to Save Natural Thyroid?" by Mary Shomon, it's obvious that Levothroid is Forest's drug of choice. Must be as cheap as chips to make Levothroid IMO. "Forest's synthetic T4/T3 medication is unavailable/backordered/no return date, and Forest's natural T4/T3 medication is unavailable/backordered/no return date.
Avatar m tn thanks for responses. I too have taken t4 for 16 years. But, not always the same brand. It has changed as my doctors and insurance have changed over the years. Currently, I have an HMO in california. Let's just say their commercials say "thrive" but their doctors say, F off. about 3 years ago things started to change for me and no one can figure out why. The PCP sends me to ENT who says there is nothing wrong who sends me to Endo who says my labs are fine.
