Levoxyl hypothyroid

Common Questions and Answers about Levoxyl hypothyroid

synthroid

Avatar n tn It means you will need to take thyroid medicine. What has your Dr. told you. Mine was 20 last week so my meds were increased I take Levoxyl. The reason mine went so high in my opinion is because I stopped taking the Levoxyl for a month or so. Felt lousy so had my blood tested and voila! Now I return in 6 weeks for another blood test to find the numbers. Maybe I will stay on the dose or it may need to be adjusted. This was my fault for stopping. They told me they like mine around 2.
Avatar n tn Was diagnosed as midly hypothyroid, TSH of 6.5, a few years ago and was put on 50 mcg of levoxyl. TSH was normal while on treatment. I recently became pregnant. Was so naseous during early pregnancy that couldn't keep levoxyl down / in system. Stopped taking for a few weeks, and had TSH tested at 6 weeks pregnant. TSH was 1.6, so the doctor told me to not resume taking levoxyl. TSH has been tested every 6 weeks since then and has been within normal range - between 1.0 and 2.
Avatar n tn I have been back on Levoxyl after being off it for 8 months.I felt good at first but going in to my third week -not so good.I feel very tired, legs are wobbly and like jelly at times.I just feel blah and like passing out at times. Is it possible the dose is too high?My doctor put me on 88 mcg when I was previously on 75.tsh was over 26 but I hear it corrects pretty qiuickly when back on meds.Any input would be appreciated.
727481 tn?1231203771 I had radioactive treament due to Graves Disease, and six months later my thyroid was declared dead. I was put on levothyroxin, synthroid and now levoxyl, but 3 months later I still feel awful. My symptoms are high blood pressure, constant trembling, feeling like I have the flu, dizziness, insomnia. My last blood test showed a TSH at 3.21, Free T4 at 1.0 and Free T3 at 3.1.
Avatar f tn In 2005 I had the right side of my thyroid removed. I've been on Levoxyl 75mcg. since that time and recently was put on Cytomel .5mgc twice a day. What would result if I had to stop taking them? Thank you kindly for your information.
Avatar n tn I have hypothyroidism and rosacea. My doc started me on levoxyl about 3 years ago. Within about 2 months, I was diagnosed with Rosacea. I finally made the connection about 1 year ago that maybe it was the levoxyl making my face so red, so I stopped taking it. And sure enough my face stopped being so red. But, I really need the thyroid meds so my doc had me take synthroid, this made my face red again with little bumps this time.
486801 tn?1288932560 I have had trouble getting my levoxyl right, I originally was diagnosed as hypothyroid in dec 2007, but after various doses of levoxyl, started with 100 mcg, went up to 125 mcg, then my tsh was .001 and was now hyperthyroid, doctor lowered to 88 mcg, and i have been on that dose for a few weeks, I am having a wierd reaction that whenever I eat anything, or drink a cup of coffee, my whole body breaks out in a sweat, soaking wet to the point I have to shower, 3-4 times a day.
Avatar f tn I am concerned about clinical trials for myopic degeneration patients as well as causes. I have hypothyroid disease. I am not a smoker and neverhave been. I did gain weight shortly after the age of 46. Two other factors entered into this, along with not watching the portin control. I had cellulitis at the bridge of my nose (could this have had an effect on myopic degeneration or brought it on?) Doe a hypothyrois patients need to watch levoxyl and/or levothyroxine for myopic deeneration?
Avatar n tn My 24-month old has been slowly dropping height percentiles (started at 50%, down to 20% this past year). They finally tested her TSH and T4 and her TSH came back as 4.73 and her T4 was "normal" (I don't know the value). They are debating what to do next. I am also hypothyroid (usually around 5.5 TSH or so, went up to about 15 when pregnant, currently on 88 micrograms of levoxyl). My question is: should they treat her?
Avatar n tn Joint pain is usually a symptom of being hypothyroid and not due to thyroid medication.
Avatar n tn Caffeine is not as bad as fiber in interfering with the absorbtion of hypothyroid meds. However, it does interfere...real bummer, I know. Google "levothyroxine + caffeine" if you want more info.
Avatar f tn You have become HYPOthyroid after RAI and need to start levothyroxine. This means the treatment was successful in taking care of the hyperthyroidism, but now the trade-off is hypothyroidism that needs treatment (this is very common).
Avatar m tn Well, I did a little looking, and as you all probably know, low body temp is a symptom of hypothyroid (which I have). Does anyone know what the normal body temp is for hypothyroid? Should my body temperature start to increase now that I'm on the levoxyl? I guess what I'm wondering is this -- if my body temp starts to go up to normal, does that mean my thyroid is becoming regulated?
Avatar n tn I am a 44 year old female who maintains a good weight of 128 - 130 through somewhat regular exercise and moderately healthy eating. I've been taking 75 mcg Levoxyl for over 10 years. In May - June, I frequentely took 150 mcg in an effort to not gain weight while I was NOT exercising and NOT eating well. This may have helped keep off the weight for awhile -- not sure -- but since going back to the correct dose, I have weighed around 138 - 142.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 150 levoxyl for 9 months for hashimoto's hypothyroidism and have been stable with thyroid tests. Now my FT4/FT3 indicated hyperthyroidism. What could have caused this change?
405614 tn?1329144114 s as cause of hypothyroid -- but with the low thyroid dose you take, one wonders if you really needed levoxyl at all....sometimes these meds are started based on a single, slightly high TSH - when if one had waited 6 weeks and repeated TSH it would have been normal.
Avatar f tn And, if so, what other options do I have? I have looked up all the medications available for hypothyroid and they all seem to contain the same inactive ingredients. Getting pretty scared at this point. Dr. says to take antihistamines before taking the synthroid, but hives are still there and I can still feel the reaction going on. Don't know how much longer I can continue this. Please help!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism after my first baby was born. I was taking 50mcg levoxyl. I got pregnant with my second baby and I never had to increase my medication. After my baby was born, around 6 weeks my TSH was 0.06. My gyno only tested for TSH and had me cut back to taking my thyroid meds every other day. Then I got tested again around 2 months later and my TSH was 0.05. My dr told me to stop taking my thyroid meds.
Avatar f tn 8) I have thyroid cancer and been taking Levoxyl 88mcg... My doctor told me to take 1 88 mcg tablet for 6 days and 1.5 tablets on the 7 days.. So do you think these numbers look good...
Avatar m tn Yes I did feel that when I was new to increases. In addition to that I also had a mild headache and some jitteryness for about two weeks or maybe just a bit longer. Are you taking it all at once? That could be causing the high pulse rate. Best to split the meds to even out the dosages. "You increased your dosage??" No doctor behind that increase? It may be just getting used to the direct T3 increase. When do you test again?
Avatar f tn Also wondering if Compounded Levothyroxine would be as effective in managing hypothyroid symptoms as Synthroid, as after my total thyroidectomy in 2006 they started me on generic levothyroxine and it did not help, but the brand name Synthroid did help to improve my TSH levels.
Avatar f tn The Fatigue is cased by and is a main symptom of Hypothyroid, because your metabolism is slowed. Are you under medication for thyroid? Has your md taken any bloodwork lately and if he did, could you post the results of Free T3 Free T4 and TSH including the reference ranges provided, members then can see where you are in regards to your thyroid and give suggestions, causes and advice. If you are being medicated post what meds you are on also.
Avatar f tn I have had thyroid disease for years, being diagnosed with Graves Disease in 1992, having radioactive iodine in 1997, then becoming hypothyroid ever since. I have been on levoxyl since 1997 and had some surgeries and major episodes happen in my life since 2003, which, in turn, have stressed me out. My tsh level was 58.165 back in June and my primary dr put me on 300mcg of levoxyl but I could only take it for a week as I thought I would jump right out of my skin.
Avatar f tn HI, I am 17 weeks pregnant. I take levoxyl everyday. As per my information I can not drink milk along with levoxyl and have lost the habit of drinking it since 4-5 yrs back when i was tested with hypothyroid. I also was tested deficient in Vit D 3-4 weeks back( I was 3 months pregnant then) and since then I am taking tums 750mg along with Vit D3 400iu chewable supplements 5-6 times/week. I still get leg/calf muscle cramps at night and while walking sometime.
Avatar f tn Yes, I am - Levoxyl 88mcg. I will ask my doctor about running the other test, thank you.
