Levoxyl hives

Common Questions and Answers about Levoxyl hives

synthroid

Avatar n tn There is a definite link between hives and hashimotos. I had chronic, debilitating hives for 6 months. I went to 6 different doctors who put me on everything from doxepine, zyrtec, benadryl, you name it. Finally a specialist tested my antibodies. I always had a normal thyroid panel, so the doctors never tested my antibodies. I had elevated antibodies and was diagnosed with hashimotos. They put me on levoxyl eight years ago and I have not seen a hive since. My sister had the exact problem...
Avatar f tn I have been taking synthroid for 4 years with no problems until about 2 weeks ago. Broke out in hives. I know it is the synthroid because right after I take it I begin itching and stinging, and now some chest tightness.. Tried Armour and am having the same problem. Could it be an inactive ingredient in the meds? And, if so, what other options do I have? I have looked up all the medications available for hypothyroid and they all seem to contain the same inactive ingredients.
Avatar f tn t know about losing weight and hives, but I have had hives for the past 6 weeks. I justgot a thyroid test and have antibodies TPOab=381, TSH 7.4. My free t4 is normal, so I have subclinical hashimotos. The only symptom I have is these hives and red rash and I really want to get rid of them. Sorry you are suffering. Does anyone else know anything about hives and antibodies?
Avatar f tn I've been hearing a lot just recently about hives/rashes. I'm beginning to wonder if it has something to do with the time of the year. Could it be hives? Does it itch?
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and anemia. My TSH was 7.0 and ferritin was 28. My physician had prescribed me synthroid and Nu-iron. I've been taking it for about 5 weeks now and for the last few days, I've been breaking out in severe hives. I've been trying to monitor my intake but everything but I really believe it is either the synthroid or Iron med.
Avatar f tn I can go for long periods and not have any problems, but once it starts it lasts for months...and recently lasted for a year. I now have the hives again as well as angioedema. I have to take Zyrtec daily if I want to avoid it and even then I can still have some. I am on 88 mcg. of Levoxyl M-F and 75 mcg on Saturday. I also have Type 2 diabetes but am not on medication...it is controlled by diet and exercise.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering with hives for about 4 months now. I take levoxyl .88 mcg my tsh is 2.1 currently. the only relief i have is when i take allegra. I went to g.p. when i woke up one morning and my lips were swollen and i had been waking up with hives every am. My g.
Avatar f tn m also going through one of my itchy rash periods right now -- under my upper arms, on the insides of my thighs and lower legs. Noticed several other people posting about this. I take Levoxyl and am due to have levels tested. Has anyone found anything that really works to ease this itching? I've tried the Aveeno soaks and use Sarno cream. One doctor says it's yeast, another says it's atopic dermatitis and prescribes a steriod cream. Have had this last episode for about 2 weeks.
1255673 tn?1275887316 I have been experiencing chronic hives (I have had hives every day since oct 2009 - I have also experienced situations like this off/on for 8 years), (diagnosed: chronic urticaria) which lead me to discover the cause. My allergist quickly diagnosed me with Hashimoto's and has prescribed .50 mcg Levothyroxine. I question whether this is a valid diagnosis, I will describe my blood work over the last 5 months and hopefully someone can relate or a Dr. can offer suggestions.
Avatar f tn I am on a dose of 100 Levoxyl. My largest nodule is now 1.7. I have three other enlarged nodules. 1.3, 1.0 and .7. When I went for my FNA, the ultrasound tech/nurse? said "you have many nodules". The surgeon said " you have a really odd shaped thyroid". The FNA was completed. The next day I broke out in localized hives beginning at the base of my neck and radiating up to my jawline. I was sent to the ER.
Avatar f tn I am still having hives my tsh was 1.2 and my antibodies were 900 i am taking armour thyroid 90 mg. I also take allegra. I still have terrible itching from the antibodies or so everyone tellsme that it what it is. Is there anything else I can do to stop this. Does anyone else have this????
Avatar n tn 10 years ago when I was 40 I developed Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I took Levoxyl 0.1mg. I gradually increased to .25 mg before the itch went away. This took months. I weaned back down to 0.1mg as a maintenance. 2 years later I decided to wean off the medicine. The itch came back, took levoxyl again. This time it took .35mg before the itch subsided. A few years later, same story. I have been on a maintenance dose of .05mg for the last 5 years. Should I continue to take levoxyl?
Avatar f tn I am on synthroid (levohyroxine) generic for now,, well 2 months ago, I started itching and do get hives here and there, well I told my Endo, he isn't doing anything about it, he wants to send me to a dermatologist, my skin is dry of course because of my thyroid or the medicine, never been so dry before, yellowish looking, well he said there isn't any other thyroid medicine, well I called the pharmacy myself they told me about the Tirosint, which I am going to call back and ask about that
Avatar f tn You've been on three different doses (and colors), and you are probably moving on to another. You might have a problem with one of the dyes, but I doubt you are having trouble with every color. The fillers in the drug may be giving you problems. Being Hypo makes you feel bad, so it is a little hard to say until you are stable again and give yourself a few months to get used to the meds whether you would be better off trying another brand.
Avatar f tn Hi, My Doctor started me with Levoxyl at 50 mcg (he said at this dose it had no additional fillers - he was concerned that I was reacting to fillers which is odd as he had me on 50 mcgs of Tirosint prior and pulled me off because he thought I was reacting to Tirosint (my skin was peeling). Interestingly he tried 75 mcg of synthroid (which I do have hay fever so that didn't work) and said I really needed 75 mcgs but I guess he wanted to see how well I would tolerate the levoxyl.
Avatar n tn Medically, the switch from Tirosint to Levoxyl was totally painless, though I did go from 88 mcg to 100 mcg, but I was ready to do that on Tirosint, as well. I feel as good, or better, than I did on Tirosint. The best part is that my wallet loves the price difference. I just picked up my refill yesterday, so I'm good to go for another 90 days.
Avatar n tn I have been back on Levoxyl after being off it for 8 months.I felt good at first but going in to my third week -not so good.I feel very tired, legs are wobbly and like jelly at times.I just feel blah and like passing out at times. Is it possible the dose is too high?My doctor put me on 88 mcg when I was previously on 75.tsh was over 26 but I hear it corrects pretty qiuickly when back on meds.Any input would be appreciated.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I am hearing positive things about levoxyl (brand). I am currently on a compound and i have been on it for about 8 weeks now. My numbers are getting pretty bad and the doctor says the compound is not right for me. My last full test showed that my tsh was at 65. The ft3 was 1.3 (range 2.3 to 3.9) and my ft4 was .4 (range .8 to 1.8) currently my tsh is at 115 but i do not know my frees right now. they are suggesting moving me from a compound of 150 to a levoxyl of 175.
616450 tn?1228433627 After the RAI I felt great for a few months. When the doctor put me on Levoxyl, after I supposedly went a LITTLE hypo, I started feeling like ****. I have more anxiety, can't sleep and my heart gets pumped up easily. I get out of breath real easy too. I think my heart is affected and I have chest pains. I feel sick and nauseated all the time and have to go lay down even at work, so I'll eventually lose my job if something isn't done.
Avatar f tn In 2005 I had the right side of my thyroid removed. I've been on Levoxyl 75mcg. since that time and recently was put on Cytomel .5mgc twice a day. What would result if I had to stop taking them? Thank you kindly for your information.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking 25mgs of levoxyl and everytime I take the pill i get a racing heartbeat and heart palpitations. I have called my doctor and the nurse there told me to take the pill every other day. i tried that but then I would get the palpitations on the days I would take it. Then I called back after a week and was told to take it every 3 days. I stopped for 3 days to get some of it out of my system and felt great. Not as many palpitations and i was able to sleep.
Avatar f tn I will probably either go back to taking my Nutri Thyroid at an increased dose or try Levoxyl. Has anybody got any experience with this drug or Evotrox Liquid ?? Thanks for any help and advice you can give me. AquarianGlory This discussion is related to Levothyroid and mood swings.
Avatar f tn Based on my blood test result my doctor made a derision regarding my thyroid gland, and Levoxyl 0,05 mg was prescribed, My questions: 1. Which blood test parameters are telling that I have to start/stop taking Levoxyl? 2. Can I replace Levoxyl with natural products (some diet, using the iodized salt, etc.) ? Many thanks!
