Levoxyl heart palpitations

Common Questions and Answers about Levoxyl heart palpitations

synthroid

Avatar f tn I am currently taking 25mgs of levoxyl and everytime I take the pill i get a racing heartbeat and heart palpitations. I have called my doctor and the nurse there told me to take the pill every other day. i tried that but then I would get the palpitations on the days I would take it. Then I called back after a week and was told to take it every 3 days. I stopped for 3 days to get some of it out of my system and felt great. Not as many palpitations and i was able to sleep.
Avatar n tn I was over-medicated on Levoxyl and had totally different symptoms, that were hyperthyroid symptoms like breathing trouble, heart palpitations, fast heart rate, insomnia, anxiety. These are very different from what you have described. In any case, if you are concerned about how you feel, I would call the doctors office to discuss your symptoms and see what they say.
Avatar n tn As soon as I switch to brand name I feel a whole lot better but then I start having heart palpitations and my heart feels like it's racing. I'm on .50 mcg. Will this go away if I stay on the brand name meds and is it normal? Also is there anything you can do temporarily to take the aches and pains away to help you relax?
Avatar f tn Over the past year my dose was increased to .175. For over a month now I have been having palpitations (PVCs - skipping heart beats). I am taking a Beta Blocker medication to control these abnormal beats. I have also started the brand name Synthroid med about 2 weeks ago. Has anyone else had heart problems related to generic levothyroxine and what med did you change to? Thanks for your help!!
Avatar f tn I have been taking 120 of Armour for 4 years and about three years ago developed heart palpitations. They come about once every week/2 weeks and last 12-24 hours. I just had an echocardiogram and my heart looks fine. I have gone through all my meds to locate any that might cause palps. I don't eat sugar, drink or smoke and use just a little caffeine. Could these be caused by thyroid or thyroid meds? Because of the supply problem, I just switched to 150 mcg. of levoxyl and 50 mcg. of cytomel.
Avatar f tn I recently underwent a total thyroidectomy (which I now regret, but that's a whole nother topic). I've taken several thyroid replacements meds over the past twenty-five years.........synthroid, levothroid and currently have been on levoxyl for over five years. Now that my thyroid is gone is there a preferred thyroid replacement that is best? My surgeon was going to switch me off of levoxyl after surgery, but I resisted and wanted to stay on the levoxyl.
Avatar f tn For about 3-4 weeks now I have noticed that my blood pressure is higher than normal, 138/78, it used to be 110/70. I get heart palpitations and my chest feels like it is squezing in the front and the back. I discussed my symptoms with my endo and was sent for a chest CT to rule/out a PE. That came back fine. I went to the ER and also had an echocardiogram, which also turned out fine, but with some tachycardia.
Avatar f tn Hello again. I am having very scary heart palpitations when I am still. I have not had my blood tested again because it has only been three weeks, but I have went up on my levoxyl which seems to be going ok. I'm trying to get to 75mcg from 50 mcg. I'm not concerned about going up on my meds. That seems to be going ok. My concern is when I lay down my heart is beating so hard and fast. Especially when I wake in the middle of the night. What could it be? Is this normal.
Avatar f tn 35, T3 remained WNL. I knew my thyroid was abnormal because of heart palpitations, but certainly not that abnormal. Any feedback on reasons for such a sudden change? This discussion is related to Extremely High TSH leve EXTREMELY.
Avatar n tn This created a lot of palpitations esp. at night with irregular heart beats and pounding of heart (which is very noticable in my head also). I took beta blocker for a few weeks which helped a lot, then another tsh test showed a swing over to hypothyroid, although I never felt the symptoms of that, but kept feeling I was hyperthyroid, now I have weaned off the beta blocker and the pounding has returned every day and night.
Avatar n tn from palpitations, sweating, insomnia, numbness/tingling, adic reflux, foggy head, blurry vision. First medication tried was .75 of Synthroid, then generics, Cytomel, Armour. Currently on .25 Levoxyl on 4 times per week. Was thinking about switching back to Synthroid at a lower dosage - would this make sense? Has anyone else had bad side effects with meds, and then felt better on Synthroid? I just don't feel right, I don't feel well and I don' t know what to do. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Can somebody who has been on levoxyl for a long time and had to switch to something else because of the recall and stop of production share their experience.? I tried Synthroid but it is not working for me at all: anxiety, palpitations, sleeplessness! I was fine on levoxyll! What other drug would be the closest to Levoxyl? Any experiences with Tirosint? What is the difference between Tirosint and all the other levothyroxine meds?
616450 tn?1228433627 m on Levoxyl and I have symptoms of an overdose. My chest hurts and my heart is pounding and my blood pressure is up. Something else--that throbbing, squirming, painful thing in my thyroid is back, which had completely gone away until I got on this levoxyl. It's coming back more and more. My heart skips beats when it does this.
555598 tn?1215749084 They started me rather high, maybe due to my severe symptoms. Without seeing me in person, I am worried that I could have heart palpitations. I already am suffering from insomnia, so maybe this is too high to begin, especially since my father had a heart attack at age 50 and died two weeks later back in 1968. My question is: what questions should I aske the endocrinologist, what side effects should I be reporting, and what advice can you give me? I just started the medication today.
Avatar f tn I was on Armour for 40 years with no problems and in Dec 2007 started with heart palpitations and after several decreases in dosage, my doctor changed me to Synthroid. I have felt even worse since - and no heart palpitations - but feel horrible 100% of the time and mostly non-functional. Anyway, I am going to an endo and have only seen him once. I am on .88 mcg and don't feel any better at all. I see him this Wednesday and just called to make sure they had my labs.
Avatar m tn I'm mildly hypothyroid (TSH about 6.5, w/ T3 and T4 about what you'd expect from that). Have been on very low dose of Levoxyl (25 mcg) for 3 days now. First day basically felt nothing. Since then, I've started to feel better in several ways. More energy (I was really lethargic), clearer headed, muscles feel stronger, feel less cold (although low body temp hasn't budged), skin is less pale.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER and they did an EKG that came back normal and the doc said my heart seemed fine. He did indicate that he could see my palpitations on the heart monitor. My blood pressure was 100/65 and my pulse was 65. He tested my TSH and it was at 25. He told me to drop my synthroid down to 50 mcg until I saw my doc because he thought the medication may be the cause of my palpitations. I did this for a couple of days and my palpitations did not go away and I felt terrible.
616450 tn?1228433627 I have had heart palpitations for a while and they say thay are only with hyper but my endo said nope they are with hypo too! I had a full heart work up to and all was fine with me as I am sure will be with you too.
Avatar n tn 2 Years ago I switched from Levothyroxine 100 mcg to Armour Thyroid 180's. My first test came back HIGH that my TSH was .10, but the doctor kept me on that dose. The next test TSH was normal along with all the others except the T3 has come back high 2-3 different times. It's been two years of that but I felt fine the whole time. 12 Weeks ago they stopped making my 180's so I started taking a Generic 180 Armour.
616450 tn?1228433627 I just had my thyroid levels tested last week--two different times--and had different results with both tests. That's why I'm convinced something is wrong. My heart can't seem to keep up with me. I get short of breath. When I do my regular job at work my heart really gets going. I'm afraid all of this has permanently affected my heart.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have had hypoT since age 16. Since I was about 35 it has not been able to be regulated. Since April of 2009 I have been to the dr's once a month and each time they adjusted meds. In April my primary switched me to Armour which until August 2009 worked wonderfully. Then Armour was reformulated and it stopped working so my primary referred me to endo. He ordered bloodwork, said he wouldnt use Armour and put me on 150 Levoxyl and Cytomel twice a day.
Avatar f tn I have just had that happen to me and it was pure tee heck!! I felt looney as a bird. Chest pains, heart palpitations, anxiety. It was awful. The dr had me stop my thyroid med for a week, then start at a low dose and work up. I am on Armour. That was about 2.5 weeks ago. If your dr will put you on armour, the recommended way to take that is to split up the dosage, and take it sublingual. The best thing you can do is rest, rest, rest, and drink plenty of water.......
Avatar f tn Can you have palpitations with hypo and hyper thyroid? How long do you have to be on synthroid to start noticing a difference?
Avatar f tn m a bit of a puzzle, the cardiologist suggested that I was having heart spasms, but to be safe had done a series of tests of my heart, including a nuclear scan. Sorry to not know what that test was. The TSH results were found on a routine physical follow up, with blood tests. I have started on Levoxyl 50mcg. Once a day, haven't started feeling better at all. I still deal with rapid heart rate and skipped beats occassionally.
