synthroid

Avatar f tn Therefore to much thyroid meds can affect adrenals and in some have reverse affect and cause weight gain due to to much cortisol running rapid via my Doctor. I have been finding a lot of information on this since posting this earlier this morning because I thought my Doctor was crazy but it is true. I have gained in 4 months 15 lbs and here is my last test results. Thyroxine (T4) Free, Direct, S 1.74 ng/dL 0.82-1.77 F TSH <0.005 uIU/mL 0.450-4.500 F Reverse T3, Serum 20.3 ng/dL 9.
Avatar f tn There really is no other explanation for my weight gain. Looks like the doctor will lower my dosage of Levoxyl and keep me on Cytomel. I just have too much thyroid hormone in my body I guess? Synthroid made me feel really shaky, nervous, gave me dry mouth, etc. I felt fine on Levoxyl until I gained all this unexplainable weight and just recently have been feeling really bad, such as chest pains, shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn I am concerned about clinical trials for myopic degeneration patients as well as causes. I have hypothyroid disease. I am not a smoker and neverhave been. I did gain weight shortly after the age of 46. Two other factors entered into this, along with not watching the portin control. I had cellulitis at the bridge of my nose (could this have had an effect on myopic degeneration or brought it on?) Doe a hypothyrois patients need to watch levoxyl and/or levothyroxine for myopic deeneration?
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed wth an underactive hyroid. This came after many of the usual symptoms, but mostly because in a three month period, I gained 30 pounds!!! I'm taking Levoxyl AND following all the doctors orders, AND exercising more than ever AND eating better. I've lost about 5 pounds, but the rest is just sitting arond my mid-section. I've never had weight problems before, it's just the thyroid thing. I'm at the end of my rope now and out of ideas.
Avatar n tn Being hypothyroid did make it more difficult to lose weight but the amount of weight I gained was from lifestyle. So,Can it be said my weight gain is not all thyroid related?I was able to do more than I did but I just eased into the lazier lifestyle because I didn't feel well.It became habit so that when I did feel ok,I still expended minimal energy. Also, what's better to do when you're home watching televison? EAT! This hypothyroidism is a catch 22 it seems!
Avatar f tn fatigue, weakness, weight gain, trouble losing weight, sensitive to cold, muscle aching and cramps, constipation, depression, memory loss, odd menstrual periods.
Avatar f tn So far jsut keep gaining weight and I see that you can acutally gain weght from snythroid so we will see how it goes.
Avatar m tn Or should I ask what do they try and keep your TSH at to be considered normal. My biggest concern is weight gain. Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn 88 and lost twelve pounds in two weeks. Changed me to 1.0 of levoxyl in November and gained six pounds. Weight gain may not be due to medicine, but it is due to how much thyroid hormones I take. When I was on. 88, doctor stated he was running me to normal.
Avatar n tn In May - June, I frequentely took 150 mcg in an effort to not gain weight while I was NOT exercising and NOT eating well. This may have helped keep off the weight for awhile -- not sure -- but since going back to the correct dose, I have weighed around 138 - 142. In the past, whenever I've gained a few pounds from over-indulging, a few days of watching what I eat and going to the gym have gotten me back down. This isn't working this time.
Avatar n tn I am one of many who has experienced weight gain on Synthroid. I was nearly 49 last year when I started it at 50mcg. After 6 months, my doctor asked why I gained 8 lbs and based on blood results raised my dose to 75. Last week, now nearly 50, I have gained 16 pounds total. The last time that happened was Freshman year of college.
Avatar n tn Also what is your dosage of Levoxyl? Also if tested for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, please post those as well. And most important of all, please review the following list of symptoms typical of hypothyroidism and tell us which ones you have.
Avatar n tn I feel the constant weight gain, and hunger seems like hyper to me. She suggesting cutting it off completely. I adamantly refused, sharing the serious sickness of May 2018' when a hack primary cut it by 25 mcg. She also questioned taking my 25 Cytomel in 2 half doses, stating it would not be too much to take the whole pill in the am. Again, I feel terribly confused each time I see a new doctor. And the out of network is bleeding me blind, plus the nonsense with the Armour dosing.
Avatar n tn Your weight gain and exhaustion suggest that your meds are probably not adjusted properly. It sounds like you're still hypo. Post your labs if you have them (your doctor has to give them to you if you request them). If it's been a while since you had them, it would be a good idea to get them again now.
Avatar n tn eyes feel funny (like they continually want to go out of focus and like there is pressure behind them), foggy thinking, low mood, reduced verbal fluency, weight gain, swelling (primarily abdominal), itching, constipation, muscle weakness, and poor exercise recovery. On desiccated thyroid: all of the same symptoms (minus the itching, swelling, weight gain), plus sensation of pressure at back of skull.
Avatar f tn Synthroid made me feel very coudy brain, shaky, nervous and extremely thirsty/drymouth. I began feeling normal on levoxyl, except for the weight gain and just recently since last fri, i have began to feel chest pain, shortness of breath, etc. Then I realized from my labs that my TSH level dropped from 1.94 to 0.94, this cannot be a good thing.
Avatar n tn i have been on genertic synthroid since april,,dr changed it to name brand a couple weeks ago and I swear im gaining weight now..I dont get it,has this happened to anyone else? I do drink alot of tea during the day,and try to stay with diet tea,I go to dr next week for all my new lab readings.
Avatar f tn I had always carried my extra weight in my hips and butt, and was small on top. Now I have this tire around my middle and yes, I feel bloated all the time. I also feel like my calves and feet are swelled all the time - to the point where they feel that they're going to burst if I squat down! I eat fairly healthy, but I know that I need to add exercise....and probably a lot of it.
Avatar n tn I had a hysterectomy last summer and have struggled with weight gain for the past year. Last fall I was diagnosed with pericardial infusion (fluid around the heart). Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with Hypo (TSH of 20.691), which can cause fluid around the heart. I was wondering if the hysterectomy/menopause caused the thyroid problems, but maybe it is coincidence. I have been on 50 MCG Levoxyl for two weeks. I am amazed at the energy I have.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am also nursing a 5 month old baby so my symptoms are slightly masked by having a new baby. I am always tired even after sleeping 8 hours a night. My hands are very dry and my hair is falling out. I thought this was due to having a baby. After giving birth my weight was decreasing like I thought it would, but after getting off Levoxyl, I started gaining weight.
458072 tn?1291415186 Just the start of this week I decreased the armour and added in some Levoxyl due to the high free t3. This has caused a huge increase in my appetite, and that is causing me major stress because this will cause the pounds to pack on and I have had a problem with weight issues since this thyroid mess began. I can't have this. I am ready to add in some Alli or some other weight loss pill. will have to monitor this and make some adjustments if there is not a chance soon.
Avatar f tn Dr. Lupo - I had my bloodwork faxed to your office and am hoping to get an appointment with you sooner than later. My Antithyroglobulin level is 191 H and I also have a 164 H ANA. I have a history of Graves when I was young and then it turned to Hashimoto in my 20's. I have been having my TSH monitored by my GP for the last 6 or 7 years and have been on .125 of levoxyl. Over the last 6 months, I have gained 10lbs, feel very tired and exteme lack of energy.
Avatar n tn Since last I wrote, its been a month of weight gain and being unconscious. I decided to wait on changing to NDT, and instead, went with the Endo's suggestion to DEcrease the t4 (Levoxyl) to approx 66 mcg (75 mcg 6xweekly) and Increase the t3 (Cytomel) to 20 mcg. I have felt worse then ever. Yesterday, I nearly passed out driving to the Dr. We decided to, try the NatureThroid at 65 Mg. He said this dose is equivalent to 100 T4. He did not say what the t3 ratio was.
Avatar f tn this is what your are experiencing with inadequent thyroid function and why you have weight gain and symptoms associated.
