I am 60 years old, healthy, athletic and always highly active with a healthy diet as well (I am a Registered Dietitian) with no risk factors for osteo other than menopause. I have been on levothyroxine for over 15 years; many years on my current dosage of .125. I never have had symptoms of hypo or hyper thyroidism at any time over all these years, In 1992, I was diagnosed with a hypo functioning nodule and half of my thyroid was removed and tested for cancer.
Had been taking levothyroxine for years and had no idea that the horrifically debilitating mental and physical symptoms I've been experiencing were due to levothyroxine usage/ingestion; and taken off levothyroxine Sat. after much protesting re same. I'm currently not on anything! Will see doc 9/11. Heard not good idea to take N.D.T. (natural desiccated thyroid) gland rx ie Naturethroid, Armour, etc. due to possible autoimmune response by N.D.T. (pig).
I have been taking levothyroxine 137 mcg once a day for a couple of years. Can I stop taking it all at once or do I gradually have to get off of it?
I posted on 6/17/2015 regarding my concerns over having had one episode of AFib and being concerned with the levothyroxine causing another episode. The only TSH info I had at that time was that my level was 5.6. This was taken on 5/7/2015. I just received my lab results in the mail for blood work done on 6/11/2015. She ordered at Free T3 and T4 screening on this one. In my last post you requested the results. There was no ferritin tested and my vitamin D is ok.
Does anyone take Levothyroxine and if so, what do you think of it? I have heard different things. The doctor just got me started on meds and this is what he wrote.

He was started on a 50mg dose of levothyroxine . The difference of his over all health was amazing he began to feel hungry again his breathing improved. And he was becoming more active. After about 4_6 weeks he had another repeated blood test done to check his levels and surprisingly the doctor said that his thyroid still was not functioning properly and his dose of levothyroxine was increased to 100mg. This dose made him extremely sick. Bloated . Full of trapped air. Tired and constipated.
The doctor put me on Levothyroxine, and now after 3 and a half months, I have indigestion approximately 3 times a week, bloated stomach, and balance problems. Why should I take this medication when before I started taking it, I had no symtoms? Can I stop taking this medication? I'm thinking that perhaps I was born with this thyroid problem, and it was not a problem until I started taking the medication.

Hello, I was diagnosed with thyroiditis and after going from hyperthyroidism to hypothyroidism I was put on 75mg of levothyroxine than my doctor said to only take half a dosage and now I've been off the medication for 6 days I was supposed to be done with treatment but ever since I stopped the medication I've been feeling dizzy again and exhausted my hair is falling out again my hands are shaking I have cold feet and nausea I told my doctor but he says I'm fine I was wondering could
